Ahhh, such a great idea and tip!
Apparently if you add baking soda to make the ph lower, you can get blues. Did you use the soda ash on all of the fabrics when you scoured them? That may have had something to do with the different colors. IM just starting out trying out smoke bush on my hand spun yarn and I got green, yellow and orange! I added vinegar to one dye bath, baking soda to another, and the last one nothing. I was hoping for pink and blue and yellow. I just did another dye bath last night, so I will see the results in a little bit. Thanks for the video! I’m definitely going to be dyeing up some fabrics and cotton now though for sure! Curious about my soda ash question though, so I hope you respond!

Hi from Saanichton - just reading your latest Somerset Studio article and am wondering what glue you use to adhere your botanical. I just came back from the okanagan and met a woman who was wearing a top that she had dyed with red wine-a glorious colour
How exciting you're from Saanichton! I use Liquitex matte gel medium to adhere my botanicals. That top you saw in the Okanagan sounds divine!😘
Thanks for the info. I already use the matt gell-you must place it on your substrate and lay the plant material on top????
@@januarywiebe8604 you can put some on your substrate first or you can gently put it on the under side of the botanical so you are getting the glue exactly where you want it.
