Hydraulic Bump Stops on the Baja Bug???

A crazy twist of events installing my hydraulic bump stops led me to stop dead in my tracks. Being able to pivot in design is important for a custom build. Some pivots are for the better. Exactly
Better than yesterday is what I strive for
Am I missing the template for the carboard for 2" tubing part??? 🤔
Sorry, I don’t really understand the question. My friend will made the template, based on what he wanted to fit his system best. It can be any shape you want.
Turn that motor 180 degrees and mount it mid engine. Send one axle to the front diff and one to a rear. Some 4 links and you got an AWD beast
That would be really cool. You go first 😂
Looking killer Miah!!! I can see Ill be picking your brain as well as Binder Builders when Im working on mine!! Thanks a ton!!
Of course. Happy to help anytime you have questions
Nice Job...greet from Germany
Hello my German friend! Thanks for the support!
You’re killin’ it brother! As always, great work! Oh, and thank you for the mention!
No problem! Thank you
Bending can be challenging. I know i have made multiple mistakes. But we keep practicing and move forward
Thanks Matt. If I’m learning from mistakes it just called lessons 😂
Watched every video so far, about to begin my j series vw bug this winter, and this series just may have given me the confidence to build my roll cage. Keep them coming !!
Awesome! That’s exactly why I do it! I make mistakes, you will make mistakes. As long as we learn from them. Good luck brother. My messages are always open on IG
@ thanks I’ll give you a follow
Cage bending is a learned skill. You're doing great Miah. Keep it going!
Thanks Dom. I think I got it figured out now that I did the hardest tubes lol I know real cage guys are probably cringing right now lol
You always need your head "in the zone" when bending tubes, it can be easy but at the same time impossible. Things we don't do everyday, especially bending tubing, can easily overwhelm our brains, and tubing is expensive. Having said that, you're doing a really nice job. I'm still debating my cage design in my head (and on paper) so it's nice to watch you and the Binder Builder start your cages ahead of me...giving me ideas and motivation!
Yes. I gave it some serious brain power and still messed it up. Make sure when you go for it to do your own research and commit to the design and materials. I kinda wish you were going before me 😂
@@MiahsBug You'll get used to it!
I’m sure I will 😂
Love how it’s coming along. Excellent work!
Thanks Gary! And thanks for being a loyal “Youtubian” for me
@ just happy to see you succeed!!
There is no torsional strength between the rear and front suspension.
That’s right. This is Episode 1 of the full chassis. Many more tubes coming. Thanks for watching
More please
Can do!
Sick build
Thanks Frank!
When are you looking to drive this thing for the first time?
I don’t have a hard schedule but am looking to be mostly complete by next fall
dude when i started the video i was like please tell me this is old so there's more and it said three days:(
Aww sorry. I wish it was done already too!
SAME!
@@JMC8415 I dropped episode 2 of the roll cage if that helps. 🙏
@@MiahsBug nice, I sub'd so I don't miss any future updates too!
@ you’re awesome. Thank you!
holy shit stains fudgeman, this thing is RAD A.F.!!!! what a weapons grade Baja beetle!! social suspensions black bug was built by the same dude/shop. that is obviously where you go if you want the most sano badass bug!! damn I wish I lived anywhere but shitty blue MD. it doesn't have sand dunes the only thing we got is an island you can rip on the beach but it has these wild horses that have turned into dicks!! you're rippin' getting ready for a Scandinavian flick to get sideways and roost some sand and a dick horse will just come out of nowhere and walk in front of you. they suck. I love animals but these bastards have learned to open tent zippers and coolers and they bite like a mofo. they are total cock blockers in every way. the west coast is where born prerunner and duner guys like me should be living. your bug is MEGA!!! cheers bro
That’s a lot to take in… but I love it. 😂
@@MiahsBug I never knew horses were such dicks but I do know this bug is sano!!
Nice progress Miah..
Thanks Will.
None of your buddies have a better bender? What ever works is 👍 Just keep going. That is the hardest part
I have a buddy with a nice bender. I might sweet talk him for the main hoop at least.
Awesome 💯
Thanks my dude. Hope you had an awesome time in Glamis. Looked like a blast
This makes me want to build a Baja.
Yes! Do it!
Slowly but surely it’s getting there!!
lol, your one video covered your entire build… I must be milking it 😂
@ no you’re just giving people more to watch while eating dinner 😂
@ 😂 dude, I need to see more details on your bug! Give us more!
@ I will make one soon! Haha
Super excited to see the.progress on your cage! Thanks Miah!!
Thanks Tim. I wish I was moving faster but this is my current pace. Thanks for your support!
@MiahsBug Your progress is light years ahead of mine!! Heck!! I just got my.bug home a couple weeks ago from storing it at my uncles for almost a year !!!
Well that’s a step in the right direction!
Nice work! MAN, I have to admit, I may have to cut the rear out of my bug too. Time will tell!
Once I realized how much I would need to cut for the Honda engine and all the separate holes for tube I made the decision. I also would like the body to be removable.
Are those 5x5s in the rear?
Yes they are. Here is a video on them before I made some large modifications. ua-cam.com/video/D_uvzpTdESo/v-deo.htmlsi=Gc0cx8zhQzrPyOSU
The build is looking great!
Thanks Mike!
I'm excited now! looking forward to the progress. I'm sure I'll be borrowing ideas from you for my cage!
Thanks HRD. Borrow away…just do it better 😆
The freakin National Geographic kids toy tumbler 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's awesome. Love seeing the progress!
Not the first kids toy I use in the shop lol
looks good! I built my baja with the affordable bender and the large radius is definitely not ideal, but you learn to get creative with your bends to make it look nice and fit well. I did the air over hydraulic conversion on mine though since I didn't want to pump that jack for days!
That’s good to hear. I’m glad it worked out for you. The pumping gets old and is slow but I think I can live with it for now.
Woo hoo!! Making some progress!
Slowly but surely
Finnnally! Ive been waiting for a new video!
Thanks for the support Zonin
Could anyone please give me a link or location to get those driving light housings? Or the whole light assembly if that's the way it came? Lots of really nice DOT 7" LED Jeep lights out there but all the housings I find suck. Super nice bug and love the black and red theme.

@@MiahsBug Oh thank you so much brother!!!
No problem. He uses the 7” housing as well. Both links are there for you!
Dumb question everyone I ready to drop some coin especially something like this bug . Is a bug prerunner cheaper than a f150/ ranger?
I guess it all depends on the equipment for each vehicle. Running higher HP in a rear engine car gets pricey due to the required transaxle. Not a dumb question. Bang for buck, I would think a truck to be more economical but bug guys love bugs
Part list?
Is there a specific part you’re wondering about?
@ I’m thinking about making my own and wondering what you used and what was the over all cost of the build
@Trump.MAGAforever I see. That sounds awesome. That information isn’t readily available due to it being a custom build by DT Fab. Love your name btw!
@ all right thanks man
Nice!! Video
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Awesome video. Justin is the man.
Thanks so much!
Super cool B@d@ss buggy!!! ...I built a Baja bug a few years ago but I started with an actual bug and built a frame around and through it. It is a way better way to do it the way DT Fab did it but they are all fun. Justin seems like a decent down to earth guy that anyone would like to have as a friend....
Your build is a more common approach similar to what I’m doing. Justin is a really good guy and has a great car.
What are the rear spring rates?
Good question. I forgot to ask that. I’ll find out.
Rear spring rates are 600 over 650 per Justin.
Gives me motivation!
Me too. I wish it gave me time 😂
Also, you were supposed to be my first walk around video. Finish that thing!
Cool bug
I agree ☝️
Very nice bug!❤❤
I agree!☝️
Radiator and a tire …. lot going on in back
It’s all working too. It’s quite a package back there.
@@MiahsBug he have that thing Dino matted inside rear section?
@@kokrket I didn’t see any. We had headsets on the whole time so the sound was fine.
Hell yea man. I love this car! Stoked to see a video on it. I gotta get down there and do Mojave madness or something one of these days.
Yes! Come down. As you well know, I am not ready but all these guys are so cool.
Seems like a cool, down to earth dude. That Baja is absolutely sick. Great video man.
The community is ALL great! Riding in this thing was nuts! Thanks for watching and the comments Gary!
Well that's an awesome bug! loving these "shop/car tours" videos. You're lucky to be in California, lots of bajas to get inspired by and people to learn from, keep'em coming!
Glad you enjoyed it. I will keep them coming. There are soooo many Bajas around here. I AM blessed.
Your Baja is looking good! Maybe when you are done you can help me with mine, its set up for class 9 so it's a lot less work.
I’m all for building!!!
Siiiccccckkkkkkk
Thanks!
I have a nice bug for sale. 2500. Everyone wants the exhaust or motor and exhaust 1600cc
