What was wrong with Axe Machina in the last video? Solved thanks to you guys!!
It turns out that by default even on the DI patch, the signal is ran through an amp/cab... that needs sorting. But for now, you can save them turned off as a new default!

My entry to the Toneforge Riff Contest. I have one arm so everything is programmed with a mouse. Enjoy!
This sounds fantastic man. Great job. How are you achieving good chugs with 2-3 strings?
@@IanDavis thanks mate, I haven’t done anything except program a normal chug of 3 notes and set the velocity to make it a palm mute. I think this was using NDSP Gojira or Nolly with a GGD Cab.
Awesome tone. So thick
@@SRO_4 Thank you!
cool new channel. please do more on midi sequencing. Are you using velocity mutes or key switches? etc. Having a hard time too...picking hand is great, chord hand not so much. Any advice would be great!
sound great well done
@@蔡成钰 Thank you!
Demo is great, I love it ,and the sound is also amazing. How do I adjust the pedal FX chain? Is it also software?
@@shichengli7954 yeah there are fx on the amp sim side (Neural DSP). The plugin is only for sending the DI.
Hey man, amazing content! I started producing metal recently (after years spent producing edm), your guitar tone sounds amazing. Can you please do a video explaining how you made that? Also it will be amazing if you could share the midi of the riff you wrote, i'd really like to learn and improve and see how it can be written! I tried by ears but i'm struggling with the right strumming, keyswitch and articulations
@@marcoamyss2196 hey man, I’m feeling a bit down at the moment so might not get onto a video quickly but I can at least respond to you via text. The guitar tone really is just neural DSP Gojira, followed by GGD cabs and flicking through presets until I liked the sound. Then I would Hipass up to maybe 90-100 Hz and that’s it. Don’t forget that the snarl on top of a bass guitar makes up a lot of the perception of the guitar tone as well. As for the writing aspect, Maxime the creator of Odin has some great videos on this! I hope that helps man, thanks for the kind words and stopping by ❤️
badass
@@Dissonified thanks a lot!
Superb bro!
Thank you!
This honestly feels like it's conceivably a tossup between Axure and Odin. Both are made by small companies, and while Solemn has a solid track record, Study Sound seems to have a good backing behind them... So at that point it's really about articulations, UI/UX, and price. Odin III is $50 more expensive, has more robust keyswitches, and has the fretboard GUI (which I do quite like), you can also run a single instance with the dual stereo routing (and it has built in tones which are bad and you shouldn't use so I'll ignore them) vs needing to run 2 instances L/R for Axure. The Axure has a slightly more 'modern' tone IMO. Slightly more pronounced on the top end, and feels a little more growly. Odin is a little more subdued but has slightly better pick attack... Shit man, someone help me make this call ahaha. I am seriously torn.
Odin 😎🤘
I picked up Odin 3 about two weeks ago over Axure. Axure sounds great but I’m still glad I picked up Odin. Solemn Tones rules! \m/
@@jchristian515088 they do! Love Odin!
I currently have the Hydra 8 string but ive been looking for something a bit better, i cant seem to get the hydra sounding how i want and this axure sounds incredible. Might have to grab.
@@nathanlempar4283 Great! Let me know how you get on!
What’s drum sounds are you using in this video? They’re great!
Thank you! GGD Invasion as a base then custom samples from drum forge as extras ❤️

That's very kind mate thanks!

@@Clammiest thank you <3
Odin 3 must have
i prefer 7heaverstrings to odin still especially in fifth mode
Great video - what was your plugin chain for Odin 3? Ive noticed that the raw DI comes through a bit fizzy through most of the Neural DSP sims i have, amd the palm mutes don't sound sharp out of the box. I will say it does aound really organic and brilliant aside from that.
@@AliFahad-p9z I don’t have the project open to confirm 100% but I’d be very very surprised if it was anything more than Odin into NDSP into GGD Cabs and some EQ. If there was anything else it only would have been an MB comp for the low end chugs.
Song sounds killer, great job. Sorry to hear about your accident.
@@bioburden thank you x
Super THICC riff bro, Great job! Love your personality and your sense of humor. Always looking at the glass half full. Love how music production has evolved so much that you can still enjoy the things you love despite your accident. Keep it up man, You're killing it! I've been a huge fan of Odin 2 as well and I also just recently got Odin 3 as soon as it came out. I am loving it so far!! Do you think you could possibly make your reaper template available for purchase in the near future?! This mix is unreal😮 Looking forward to your future vids. You definitely got my sub! Cheers 🤟🏼🍻
Thank you so much! Regarding templates I don't really have one atm as I'm using outboard hardware etc so still finding one!
This was awesome! Thanks for doing a comparison
Thank you so much! You’re very welcome! ❤️
great video! I noticed that you had the cab turned on in nolly in addition to the ggd studio cab IRs.. could that double IR situation be contributing to those honkey frequencies and high end harshness?
Lol this track is sick af. That Howard Jones vocals/KSE style chorus is amazing with the dual guitar harmonies in the back is awesome. Is this all you?
thank you! It is yeah, there's some stuff on my instagram, same name!
Will check it out!
@@remochiun266 Thanks!
I really want to try Odin III (I really liked version 2) Axe Machina was a disappointment for me (not very versatile) have you tried Shreddage 3 Hydra? it's amazing, you can create guitars that sound like a wall of sound and very realistic... another company you could look at is " Prominy " they make vstis and they are incredibly good, V-Metal is an excellent guitar Vsti ... i use a lot
That's an amazing song!! Liked it with all my heart
Ahh thank you so much my friend!
have you seen this new vst guitar from that company that made the II II II II amplifier plugin. it's new. DJAA MAASTA guitar.. have you seen this one? i'm really debating which one to get between that one and the Axure.. Chis Bedan been using the Axure in his recent vids too, he really likes it. he helped design the interface
I haven't been able to find it on google easily, I've heard of it but haven't seen it in action etc.
Did you not try the Shreddage 3 Hydra? Its honestly SO good. 8 string, sounds realistic and chugs like a beast
I haven’t!
yes Shreddage 3 Hydra is a BEAST !!!

did you play this on a keyboard ?
Nah, programmed with a mouse! I use the keyboard for finding chords and melodies etc
That’s awesome you figured it out. Axe Machina sounds great!
Yeah, thanks to the viewers! I definitely think that the DI needs to be a DI and not amped for the next update! But yeah it sounds awesome, much better now!
Banger of a track! The Odin 3 is super!
Thank you! Yeah it’s awesome!
Hahah i feel this haha. It took me a hot min to figure out they had the amp sim/cab on that di preset. I had to make my own snap shot preset with it all turned off.
Nice! I spoke to Craig about it and it sounds like it’s going to be sorted for the next update!
@@StronghandStudios That's great. It only makes sense haha
@@colinmitchell1287 😀
Yeah, Ample Metal Hellrazer also did that to me; even with the built-in amps turned off, you still have to go to the effects page to explicitly bypass the whole chain. The button to bypass the effects chain wasn't even labeled so it took me a while to dig through the manual and even do some searching to realize where it was.
That’s such bad design. Tools should be intuitive and effective where possible!
I went with Axure and I am very happy! Not only does it sound great, I like supporting people that deserve it and Alan Rigdon (the creator of Axure) definitely does deserve my support and money.
It's great!! And well done for supporting the new comers to the guitar vsti world!
Thank you! Odin III it is!
Enjoy!!!
Also check out Study Sound Audio's Axure GMP that just came out as well.
Video is already up dude 🤙
Damnit, I picked up Axe Machina today. The DI in other videos sounded much cleaner.
I think there’s an amp that’s baked in an fx tab I couldn’t find, I’ll redo a comparison with it turned off!
New video is up! Fear not Axe Machina sounds great, there's just a problem at default, check the latest upload!
@@StronghandStudios got it, thanks a ton!
@@vaaalsongs4867 welcome 🍻
Axe machina has an amp sim section. The default sound has them loaded automatically. you can turn it all off and save a snapshot with em off. The FX rack tab.
Amazing Thank you! ❤
@@StronghandStudios I believe the attack knob is like an offset, so it softens attack. So a slight difference to axure. Btw, odin 3 is having an update for pick attack coming super soon. Pick attack wars? hhaha
@@colinmitchell1287 hahaha nice!! I think as much as these guys ask fight each other the better vst guitars we’re going to get! As someone who misses guitar, I’m all for it, as long as it’s creative/inspiring improvements and not unsupportive destructive race to the top style business practice!
If you fixed the Axe Machina then, maybe next video is a final comparison? Including Axe Machina and Shreddage Hydra :P
@@moth312 would love to but don’t have it!
what else is on your rhythm guitar channels? sounds so good you said youre using neural dsp stuff but are you doing anything else?
Thank you! I can make a video on this, but it really is just VSTi into Neural DSP, into GGD Cab IR and some EQ.
@@StronghandStudios yeah if you want to that would be awesome and helpful! I had some help making odin 2 sound just how I wanted and a month later odin 3 came out xD the odin 2 processing chain just didnt work the same on odin 3. I used Archetype gojira, some eq with different emphasis on L and R guitar, and multiband compression. I can figure it out but if you made a video on the topic i'd surely leave it a like and comment!
@@WforWrath I love Gojira, I use it on all my music usually! Your chain seems totally normal so I'm not sure what you dislike about it? How are you programming the velocity/switches? Also remember that the distortion of the bass makes up a LOT of the perceived guitar tone :D
@@StronghandStudios come to think of it, my old odin2/gojira presets may wrong for the particular track I was making. I should spend more time on it. Downpick switch and velocity palm muting for a rhythm section
Very nice Man
Thank you!
Damn man! That's cool!
Thank you! I really like Odin!
Hello did you try the Axure? And if yes, what's your opinion on it?

Best demo of Odin III that I’ve heard
Ah that’s really awesome to hear mate thank you!
Honestly would still prefer ample hellrazer over this
That’s great! It exists already 😀
Why? It can't even do alternate picking.
@@adownbeatexegete1549 good question! Hopefully you get a response!
This is sick bro! Keep coming with good stuffs ❤ also, make some tutorials about how to make realistic chugs (palm mutes) and amp sim too
Easy with Odin! Velocity of 34 or below, done!
Odin 3 destroys this in my opion
Odin is my personal choice to write with, but different tools for different things. I can see this working well for different uses or subgenres of metal too. And like I said in the video, there’s always going to be something that comes along and sets the bar so high that everything else is playing catch up on certain features or sounds etc. It’s $99 vs $169 so there’s also price to take into consideration. I would expect a more expensive product to offer more for the money, and in this case that has been correct regarding realism 😀
@@StronghandStudiosVmetal from Prominy is still amazing
This is fucking amazing. Im a huge fan of Odin ll myself but Odin lll is even more top tier. Great job man
Thank you! I’ll be using Odin 3 for my writing personally, so next up to test is axure 😀

I know this is guna sound super shitty of me after they just gave you this for free, but look into "Shreddage 3 Hydra" I currently use a combo of Odin 2 and Hydra at the same time.
