In this, my first DCS short Tutorial, I take a shot at helping those who have been struggling to get full control of the trimmer system of this awesome Attack Helicopter.
I kinda see no sense in calibrating the INU if you are going to use F10. And the KOPP is more like KORR if my kyrilic knowledge don´t let me down which could stand vor Correction. Either way, keep up your Tutorials man and if you need a wingman let me know! :)
is this Black Shark 3? How do you have ABRIS in English? Mine is stuck in Russian although the cockpit is set to English in Special Option. Also I see you have the "laser Illumination warning System"... that's missing too from my Shark...
@zaelu This is indeed Black Shark 3 and I also have the cockpit set to english.
@@SquawksHead I have found that the ABRIS is connected to Avionics language settings in main options... crazy... Maybe you have the laser warning system because you have the 2017 version of Ka-50 chosen in mission editor. Regards!
Please make a tutorial about the DataLink in the KA-50!
Thx for those up to date tutorials!
Really appreciate the tutorials, just the right amount of information to get the job done..
hey quick question. as you point the nose up and the throttle down (02:25) you can hear that the noise of the blades hits the air differently. i've the same with the kiowa, but for some reason i DO NOT hear it with the ka50, and it's really bad, as that "noise" kind of suggest me "ok, this is happening i can gently re-give a bit of throttle in". any idea why my cavin is kind of "silent" all the time?
Well, It looks quite good, despite the fact that you switched on the beacon to warn outsides, but didn't test the all set warning lights before starting the engines, and you also didn't test the EGT gauge, fuel one, hydraulics, and fire extinguishing system which is vital before you're airborne. Anyway, well done and thank you!
@olegserov6779 ah yes, I do explain within the video that this is a 'quick' start tutorial and I bypass the tests. Feel free to add for a more authentic experience. Thank you for your feedback.
Well done sir, my ref now for starting this beast!
Thanks a lot for your tutorials for this module. I'm still lost with it, but I'm starting to understand it better. If you can, please, keep bringing tutorials for it, specially how to use the weapons. Again, thanks a lot!
@romagnolo I'm really glad it's starting to come together. You can see my other tutorials including the Weapon systems within the playlist for the Ka-50. I do hope they assist.

Jesus this guy just wants to sound smart, didn't explain shit
Great explanation!
I tried all that the helicopter just flys backwards
Nice!
Love your educational videos, thank you!!
you are very good at explaining, stuff man very helpful
Ka-50 is still one of the most unkillable helicopter
Hello my Kiowa doesnt have that system 10:10, I like your start up. So much better than what Poly did for the training. Are you going to do more video tutorials of the Kiowa?
@SpearHead1011 Thanks for the support. I'm currently on hols atm and looking closely at the Chinnock on my return. I hope to do more on all the helicopters in the future and when time / commitments permit.
Excellent vid mate, well done
Good tutorial, thanks. Since the KA-50 Black Shark III in DCS is a fictional helo, that doesn't exist in the real world, could we play the Shark II? Is it obsolete or deprecated, and if so in what way? Thank you.
Hi @racingtheweb. I would not consider the Black Shark 2 to be obsolete within DCS and I've had many hours of fun flying it as I have BS3. This being said, the upgrade to the BS3 was for me, well worth it. Some even consider it to be a more realistic portrayal of this rare attack helicopter. Certainly the extra A/A outboard stations along with the upgraded / integrated ODS makes it a great purchase - plus you get the newer 3D model.
Brilliant video. The best one on the abris i have found. Your comms are very easy to follow
jesus these are the best black shark tutorials by far, good job dude
awesome
So glad you've done this video. 🍻
Your black shark tutorials are among the best available, keep it up Squawkie 👍
Хреново здесь они работают эти иглы т.к они толком и попасть то ни в кого не могут и догнать тоже. У Ми-24 Р-60М куда эффектнее!
is flight director still accurate? I trim it and the bars move but it does not hold the position. the nonFD trim works ok.
I can confirm all is well with the FD :)
You did came back! So glad!
@marcosechi8820 Apologies for the time it took!
@SquawksHead Don't worry about that, it's always nice to have new quality tutorials :D
My very first module from DCS 11 yrs or so ago! Welcome back and yea love this bird!!
Mate, your video on the FD taught me how to use it a while back. The shark has then become may main helo. I’ll make sure to recommend your videos in the future! ❤
@helldivermando That's really great to hear! Thank you!
Great video, very informative and understandable. I need to get back into the Black Shark
very helpful... i take it that if you target (use) a large building the cor-ord would be off a little... so the smaller the better or to use a corner? or doesn't it matter too much.
@FoxyRedFoxFomo glad this video helped. I think if the target was smaller you'd get more accuracy but it would be harder to locate, so there is a balance to be had between an 'obvious landmark' and the precision of the error correction that you are trying to achieve.
Very interesting, thank you
very clear tutorial mate really helped thanks.
Oooh modern Ka-50 tutorial! Yes! Sub'd immediately. Keen to find some clarity on the INU...lots of changes there and I never know if I'm doing it right.
ua-cam.com/video/tABJAQzLg4k/v-deo.html I hope this helps :)
Omg you're back!!! Tysm for the detailed tutorial much needed
what happened ? ,you were silent for 2 years lol
Finally found some time to focus on some DCS content! I heeded the call and am glad to be back!
nice, when i m in firiing mode for missile, say if i have to go bit further and hover again how do i change from fire mode to flying or navigation.it dosent gvivng me to speed of heli in firing mode.
@earthexplorer579 I think you can press backspace or reset the targeting system to switch back to nav mode
@earthexplorer579 @shaheen47falcon nailed it! Reset button is your friend to get back to Navigation on the Hud
my guy!
Can we enter waypoints directly in the abris?
Ah, looks like one for another Video. We can indeed enter waypoints into the Abris but they will not populate the PVI-800 and so you have to add them there also. A quicker way to do this is to use the map editor to enter waypoints and they will both populate the ABRIS and the PVI-800.
Dude I just watched your PVI-800 tutorial from 2 years ago
I do hope the video helped you understand the system. This video is a deeper dive into the other functions of the device.
sooooooooo about that follow up NAV video :)
Follow up video Sir! ua-cam.com/video/63fdK2UqPeA/v-deo.htmlsi=I9d-nmf3bVSYe8qL
@@SquawksHead you are my hero. my friends and I just got the KA50 and i personally loved the first nav vid.
Direct mode is great for low flying through valleys, AP mode is better for operating with the weapon systems, hold trim whilst you manoeuvre then let go when you're facing the way you need to be, if you want to go full evasive, turn off all the AP modes and you become ultra agile and way easy to avoid missiles with the AP turned off.
FD mode? I can't get it trimmed whenever I start from the ground.. It just flies backwards no matter what I do
@@randyreal5871 check your trim settings in special options under the KA50, and try a different trim settings, it sometimes can be a little funny on one of the settings
Great tutorial and subbed, what's multiplayer like in this game?
Thank you! Multiplayer is excellent! I am currently working on a Multiplayer Server called 'Squawks Playground' where people can just jump in and learn the aircraft I am working on plus activate a few mission types. Details will be published on Squawks playground discord (see link) in due course.
@@SquawksHead Awesome, about to order peripherals and I might be joining you for a few missions.
Let's say that I have some target coordinates. What am I supposed to do? If I enter those coordinates in the PVI-800 I won't see my target on the Abris and I won't know where the target is located on the map. This is bad. So what am I supposed to do in order to locate and destroy enemy targets, knowing their coordinates? Thx
You have to plot the coordinates directly into the ABRIS or if flying your own missions you can pre populate the ABRIS with the waypoints you created. To manually input waypoints select 'PLAN' on the ABRIS (then SELECT and UNLOAD any previously stored plan), Click DRAW (use right dial to move cursor to coords) then click ADD. Once finished plotting all points, click ADD then ENTER then PLAN then ACTIV. Be sure to make sure the ABRIS is using Decimal units as described in this video. Hope this helps :)
@@SquawksHead So, if I'm not mistaken, I have to move the cursor in the Abris all over the map untill I find the exact coordinates of my target. That's not super easy, but I'll try it. Thank you
Good to see you back Squawk 👍
You could start by putting the flag the right way up mate. Civvies...
Well spotted Sir! I shall be sure to edit the skin. Thanks and appreciated.
@@SquawksHead My pleasure. Someones gotta keep you right. ;) Ex 2 Para 74-97. ;)
Could you pls make more Ka-50 tutorial videos they are very helpful thx!!!
Thank you, I appreciate your comment. I hope to get back to making videos before long and having more of an online presence for DCS and other games I enjoy. Streaming set up needs some work but hope to be back soon. In the mean time, Fly safe
No follow up video?
Working on it :)
I finally got around to it. Please see my PVI 800 Advanced Tutorial along with the 'fixing the INU' video. Hope they help.
@@SquawksHead Awesome! Best KA-50 tutorials on youtube by far!
I found hovering in the KA-50 extremely easy after using the Apache exclusivity (Apache was my first module). Thanks for creating & uploading.
Excellent video (also the other two that you've made! ) Are you still around YT? Hoping you make more for the KA-50, you have a definite talent for giving instructions!
Thank you, that's really very kind. I do intend to return to UA-cam at some point in the not so distant future and when time permits.
I know now how to choose fx1 fx2 etcetc for inu fixing before flyover (or skval fixing) the nav system. BUT in missions there are separate fx1 in attack zone and BEFORE that fx1 there is an airfield named fxpoitn (was it fxU5GL, point is airfield code instead of fx + number) . How do I choose that airfield named fixpoint to flyover? ("FIXPNT" button + what?, like with fx1 it would be FIXPNT button + 1 (like in here). But how do i choose that first one on the track named fxUG5L ? Confused.
