As a Palestinian listening to this discussion, I am encouraged that it is taken place among the Jewish community. I do believe that a one state solution is the only just and practical solution. Having said that, a temporary two states with the vision of one state down the road is not a bad idea. That could be achieved by keeping most if not all the settlements in the west bank and the return of atleast an equivalent number of Palestinians to their land inside the green line. And If we can have an open border between the two states to encourage integration of the two communities. If this happens I don't see why can't we have a prosperous and peaceful state in palestine but also democratic ans prosperous Middle East.

I think for people living in America- the most urgent thing is to have a trump voters and progressives meetings. It might be much more challenging than Israeli and Palestinian meetings.

Regarding returning Palestinians please see the work of Palestinian scholar Salman Abu Sitta. He founded the Palestine Land Society, which has done massive groundbreaking research on the very real feasibility of Palestinian return.

I think the idea of a single state with equality under the law is the only feasible solution… Separate states is only going to lead to situations like Israel has with all of their neighbors. and if we promote democracy, what currently exists in Palestine is not a democracy… The idea of everyone being equal under the law is what protects the Jews here, that’s what protects blacks and gays here, it is a basic cornerstone that existed prior to the European Jews, coming over and trying to buy up all of the land andcreate a exclusively Jewish state.

The guest recommends going to COGAT on X, but you may have seen here in the UK there has been a high-profile fallout on X between Eylon Levy, and Alicia Kearns MP/David Cameron (UK foreign office) about this exact issue, where they disputed Levy’s characterization of the aid trucks/COGAT and forcefully pushed back about lack of evidence. I would have given Levy the benefit of the doubt, if it weren’t for him being subsequently fired, and his insufficient response. I guess I’m trying to ask how should we take the discrepancy between UK Foreign Office (a strong ally of Israel, more so than the UN) and COGAT’s characterization, and to what extent is COGAT a function of the the Israeli position as a whole or perhaps co-opted by Netanyahu loyalists?
