i've learned a lot from this so far thanks.
good job!
In almost every Godot video, Godot is full of errors. Might as well call it "Error simulator" 😂 Seriously though, this is a nice demonstration of the plugins. Though, with placing trees, it'd be better to have a vertex paint system, so we could paint where we want trees on a large terrain map. Same with rocks or any other scatterable object. I don't know if there is such a plugin though. I'd imagine Godot would slow down terribly, with such details though. Having the sphere placement is nice in its own way, if you want a group of trees in a few places. Edit: Whoever made the ProtonScatter plugin actually put some thought into it. It's nice to see it have optimization options.
Tree3D?
I would recommend looking at the article on slay the spire map generation .. to lay out how the rooms are connected, being the nodes are rooms in your map.
2:30 You could add a little thing in the last video about skipping to the next one for that constraints section, a little disheartening to know I spent all my time setting that up only to have to redo it again Edit: Also the plugin seems to not have compatibility with characters with more than 2 bones on a limb so I cant even use it 1: |
doesnt works when there is an object in front
I notice in put trees on what looks like a road. Is it possible to tell it where NOT to scatter an object ?
Great vid.
i don't know why none of these can just explain a simple line of code that will get my animation to the players script im wasting weeks on you peoples videos not getting anywhere but getting good at fixing errors that shouldn't be there if I was told the correct procedure
THANK YOU VERY MUCH this helps me a lot!!
So since the terrain 3d uses a height map does that mean something like the spatial gardner addon wouldn't work with it? Have you ever tried out dialogic addon or the Cogito template?
how could I resume animations. If I hold for example Lmouse to play the animation and let go and then press again to continue the animation. great tutorial
Love from nepal❤❤
This is absolute gold!!! Thank you 🙏
very helpful showing how to set up scatter proton
Thank you! It's one of my favorite addons and super powerful.
Somehow there is no RemoteTransform Node needed in the latest Godot Doc.
There are multiple ways to do it. I prefer the remote transform as opposed to making the sprites children of the bones or other, but I highly recommend using whatever works best for you!

10 Types of Blender Tutorial (look it up). We've got #8 and #9 here in a single video!
Is that a good or bad thing?
Dude! I had this exact bug and was stuck for so long, it's weird that Godot is that way I guess this part needs more work. Thanks for sharing the solution, helps a lot!
Thanks for watching. Someone left a comment earlier about a workaround without addons if you want to check that out.
So I want to customize how tall/wide the fov can be, if enemy is above me at 130 degrees I want the mob, to be unable to see it, even even if the enemy is in the horizontal range. How would I implement that? horizontal fov, and vertical fov
I haven't actually done this, but I would imagine that you could do a few things. One might be using a sphere instead of a cylinder and doing the dot check on the Y axis in addition to the Z axis. I'm not 100% sure though, but it could be a decent follow up video idea. Thanks for the question!
As someone who hasn't had to do trig in 10 years I deeply appreciate your diagrams and explanation
Oh, I had to study up before I made the video. It's been a long time for me.
You can actually make the bones bend properly if you change the bend direction in animation/code for the vanilla version. Dealing with the vanilla modification stacks are still a massive pain in the ass though lol, really could use a revamp, especially the mesh editor
Yeah, I figured there was a workaround for it, but that it wasn't very straightforward. I'm, personally, a huge fan of using addons and plugins. It's the beauty of open source software, but I don't expect everyone to feel the same way as me. Especially if you only need 10% of what an addon provides and the rest of it is just extra code taking up space.
If you can admit you don't know, then those that do know can bring you into the know and everyone wins. Also, not knowing is the entire reason behind teams; if you knew everything, why would you need coworkers??
It's obvious that you know, you know?
That is a little confusing 😂
The whole video is confusing, right?
Thank you sir. Your tutorial has helped me create my first ever map. I'm yet to go through part 2, but part 1 has helped me create a world I'm excited about. Especially since the tutorial that was created specifically for 3DTerrain doesn't show how to set it up and use it in a way that makes sense to me, your way was a gift! Thanks so much!
I'm so glad to hear that my tutorial helped you create your first map! It's always exciting to see your ideas come to life. Enjoy part 2 when you get to it!
Yoo!! Captain_Onosa here. I literally searched for "Godot 2D reverse kinematics" and found this. Awesome to see a familiar face! This video was helpful. I wanted to get an overview of what this topic is before doing a deep dive myself, so this was perfect. I'm curious if you've made a new video yet that addresses the bug with flipping the character? I'll need to be able to do that. Also, I feel like this video did a good job explaining what you were doing, but rushed a bit on the "why we are doing it". I think it's assuming a level of understanding that I don't have yet. But! Now I know the basics of what I need to do and what topics I need to do more research on. Huge thanks! Subscribed.
Yep, there's a follow up to this that addresses it using an addon.
Godot 4.3 is out
HECK YES!!!! UPDATING NOW!
Hello Im having errors with the line of code on 7:30 of the video. its telling me that "expected statement found ""->"" instead" and also the line of code after this always becomes a error no matter where i put this code at, plz help Line of Code: func _ready(): -> void: state_machine = animation_tree["parameters/playback"]
Im using 3d characterbody instead of 2d btw
If the line you have is "func _ready(): -> void:" then the problem is that you have an extra ":" in there. It should be "func _ready() -> void:" with no colon after "()".
what a madlad 🔥 thank you kind sir
Thank you for watching!
Game engines are really next level for me 😅
You can make games! I believe in you.
Everybody doesnt know something. Knowing that you dont know something is far greater than believing you know everything already. You're already further ahead than you think by knowing you dont know everything. You're not an idiot, you sound like a person with introspection. Speak to yourself positively. You know a lot already, enough to know that you dont know, apply persistence, having persistence is a far more useful skill than all the knowledge in the world.
Well said. While this is easier said than done, I wanted to post this so others who feel like me (and there are a lot) know that they are not alone.
What topic would you like to see for the next video? Subscribers' recommendations get the highest priority... HINT HINT (I'm suggesting you subscribe, if that wasn't clear)
bro how did you make a level in 5mint and make tutorial about it in 15 mint 😂

This looks really useful. I'm wanting to build out full procedural generation of large (50km x 50km) maps, which will be a significant challenge.
I don't envy you for trying that, but I'm glad this helped out. I believe Terrain3D has some documentation on procgen.
This video was my salvation after a long search for implementing animation ThankYou
Really glad it helped. It was a lot of fun to put together. I wanted to explain the other types more in depth, but the vid was already long enough.
Bro explan me how show animate state machine under blend tree on multiplayer synchronizer :( Or show moving persons on 3d skeleton with affect animation. which show this in multiplayer synchronizer
Honestly, I've never done anything multiplayer so that one won't be coming anytime soon, however if I do have a need for multiplayer, I'll take a look at that for you.
@@jddoesdev ok bro , i solve this problem with re - inventing wheel :). But whatever need good answer to this question. I can send you one video. there have answer, but if you will make video about this , this can help you
@@jddoesdev i m lost this video sorry :)
Thank you
You're welcome!
this guy sounds like he has a great beard
You know, I put a lot of effort into making my voice sound that way. Thank you for noticing!
Also sounds like he has some expressive eyebrows!
THANKS BOSS. New to Godot and gamedev and made some pixel lantern assets I wanted to have a glowing effect on alongside their animation. This is splendid
Nice. I hadn't tried it in 2d, but really glad it works!
@@jddoesdev bro ngl i read my comment thinking it was somebody else's and thought to myself, "Wow! That's just like me!" Turns out it IS me. This is why I shouldn't code at 3am...
Oh I've been there. Only usually it's something like "hey, this person is an idiot... what the hell are they saying... oh crap, that was me."
Just wandering if you wanted to use this to animate 2D 4 way movement character, would you create different scenes for the front and back animations, and then on a character scene rotate between the three scenes? I'm asking this because they would have to use different cutout assets.
Also, this was the best Godot bones animation tutorial I found. thank you, you helped a lot.
Yeah, I'd have different animations/cutouts for each way unless you were doing a fully top-down, then you could just rotate. I'm working on an animation tree tutorial now, but I didn't consider having multiple sprites. That may be another video, so thank you for the idea!
And thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I hope you keep watching what I put out.
I don't know what this does but do not remove this. Everything stops working if you remove the pineapple. 🍍
Excellent Job! This is exactly what I needed. This was also my first plugin. So much learned, so much more to learn :)
Thank you for watching and I'm glad I could help!
Amazing! Tx.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for making this video. I literally ran into a bug yesterday where my textures were getting removed when switching from scenes and I had no idea. Whole time I was just using the plugin incorrectly. This video was right on time. Just subscribed!!!
Awesome! I'm working on one to go over some of the new features that were just released, but it's hard to distill it all down to a 10 minute video. So many great things!
