Um Makoto almost died in DR0 and in his secret file and was accused of being a traitor in DR3 those were outside of the killing games. Hajime did suffer more via being a lab rat though.

Makoto had to see the world end and gave up any hope on even finding his own family, Pregame Makoto was him at his lowest and even though we don't know much he had given it all up.

Atleast hajime got all of his dead friends back, while makoto gets suffer of survivor's guilt. Which is a long term thing.

Everyone is saying this, but does it really matter? At that moment Hajime saw his friends dying without knowing that he was in a game, and even after he found out about it, the chance of his friends coming back was extremely low, so don't try to lessen his trauma of seeing all his friends die, the experience was equally bad for both of them, the only difference is the ending, where Makoto doesn't had his friends back, while Hajime did. Still, that's no reason to diminish Hajime's feelings at that moment, it doesn't even make sense.

Hajime is literally Izuru. Makoto is far more normal than him.

@@junkid3559 no for almost all of the duration of Danganronpa 2 we played as Hajime, not Izuru. He was an average person until the final decision and even after that he choose to be Hajime, not Izuru

@@Dragfos The fact that he chooses to remain Hajime means nothing. He still got that god brain. Just from the game, there is no salient reason to think Hajime is somehow more normal than Makoto. The only event that really drives in Makotos luck is what happens in his execution. Also, it was only by rejecting Izuru that he was able to achieve his super saiyan form. If he wasn't Izuru at one point, we'd still be seeing the 'They're both hope and despair. A conclusion will fucking never be reached.' Loop. And ssj Hajime is not more normal than Makoto, dude.

​​@@junkid3559In fact, Makoto always had an ultimate, he just didn't remember what it was. However, Hajime didn't remember what talent he had, but when he finally found out, he saw that it was nothing beyond a mere reserve student who paid to be one of the students at Hope's Peak. Since in Danganronpa 2 we play as Hajime Hinata before he becomes Izuru, meaning he was indeed more normal than Makoto, the guy literally had no talent, "a nobody who forgot he was a nobody" as Nagito said, so only at the end can we say that Hajime is better than Makoto, because there he was already "fused" with Izuru, and yet he had all the development so that he could finally reach that point. Anyway, Makoto had a life more privileged than Hajime, this doesn't make him a better or worse protagonist, but let's at least accept the facts that were presented to us during the games/animes.

He's a plot device rather than a character, Hinata has actually better lore depth wise

@@Minutemenofficial2 Yeah but the character needs to have depth traits so doesn't feels like a empty tool to follow the story like Makoto a blank slate used to lead some events

Yeah In DR Zero he played a bit of a minor role and to keep it spoiler free almost got killed by a student council bodyguard until he was saved by Mukuro and then pretty much exited the story

The first part was from Naegi secret file lol, he literally only got into hopes peak because his horrible luck resulted in the destruction of the first letter for an unnamed high school girl, so they re-elected an ultimate lucky student which ended up being Makoto Then again, if that never happened and he was never selected, he probably would've died during the tragedy
