What a p*** video all we see is is back
Hi there, nice landing, just wondering which air field was it ?
@@davidodonnell8091 EIMH
👍🏻 was thinking it looked familiar
the only thing puzzling in your SF260 videos is the position of the prop lever (all the way back instead of all the way forward). The quadrant has three levers and the one all the way to the right is prop control. All the way forward is fine pitch, used on t/o and lndg but if you have it back like that is cruise pitch. I would have guessed you want fine pitch just like on take off to do maneuvers where high power is desired at times. What RPM had you set it at?
@@simonadoxan7234 Hi, that was in Florida. That’s the way the owner was operating the engine. I take your point because I fell out of a couple of loops. Your SF260W served as a basic trainer with the Air Corps here in Ireland. Don’t change out your avionics. Keep that classic look. If I ever get to Arizona I’ll as k you for a flight in 230
Wow, memory lane. I flew one of these solo as an RAF cadet from RAF Manston in 1968 You sat on your parachute in the metal bucket seat.
I remember when the RAF sold the last of the chipmunks for 9K each.
I hope it does not conk out!
Good sound .felt like I am right there.i need more.you made it to short.to play patriotic or dramatic tunes would be awesome too😊😊😊😊😊😊
perfect !! can we get more videos?
I thought a chipmunk was inside the plane whole time and would suddenly show up in front of camera wearing helmet. my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. 😔😔😔
Just bought one, and looking for some tips on landing. I have some time in Cubs and a Chief, so I think it won't be too challenging. I bounced it pretty good the first time, but settled it down after that. Looking forward to getting on some grass.
Have fun! Grass is better…Get her up into 3 point, same attitude the ship sits in on the ground and keep that stick full back, keep straight with rudders.
the strings on the wing make the video incredible!!! you can see the exactly moment the air stops flowing on top of the wing and leaves the surface of the airfoil, really cool
Whats incredibly interesting to me is the strings near the leading edge of the wing facing forward as the wing is stalling. Great visualization of airflow!
how is this happening
What the heck is happening!?
Airplane is fully stalled. If roll links with yaw the airplane will depart and spin. So when a wing drops here, it is lifted with opposite rudder, preventing the coupling. The rate of descent gets very high about 5000 fpm. Recovery is achieved by reducing AoA and the wing flies again.
The Aeronca Champ. Pretty much a kite with a little engine. If it was a hot summer day, the way to get over the trees off the end of the runway was to point it at the treetops and "pump" the stick to help it over. Slipping to a landing - you could do it 50 times and it was still fun.
Aeronca Champ - my first civilian piloting experience after flying in the U.S. Air Force in the 1950’s and early sixties. The cinder strip was 1750 long on top of a hill. It was the old Spencer, WV airport long since gone and replaced. It was different and took a lot of getting use to.
Years ago a friend took me up in his ‘46 Aeronca. We did spins and a wing-over, and I had a blast.
Nice approach and landing with the usual bumps. The Champ I flew was the military version L-16A in the Civil Air Patrol. Many cadets took their first airplane ride in it. Your video looks VERY familiar. Thanks for posting.
Sweeet !! Got probably 50 hrs in a Champ. Loved to fly it. Landing on those grass strips was especially fun. Back in the mid 60's I was working for the FBO at the Nacogdoches, Tx airport and sometimes I would let the grass grow a little taller than normal (about 4-5 inches high) and would come in and make wheel landings and get the wheels to rolling in that grass before setting it down. so much fun. Great memories from long ago brought back by this video. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful video, greetings from Ballyphehane
Wow, I never had all that electronics. A turn and bank though, as a hedge against sudden fog.
Is this town in Ireland, the birthplace of Cillian fookin’ Murphy?
U fookin rih
Lovely
That approach speed is far to hight really.NOt needed and if you lost a wheel; or brake fitting iIt could throw you on your back. KEEP IT SIMPLE THE KEY TO SAFE FLYING !!!!!!!!!!!!
Airplane touched down at 38 mph…The 1g stall speed for that type…You can fly an approach at whatever speed you want.
@@dronemonkey2038 He's a station manager so he's accustomed to micromanaging everything. Great flying, I really enjoyed it.
@stationmanager9325 hilarious comment as if that same wheel or brake fitting couldn't come off on take off also. I guess he just should not fly with such impending disaster lurking ahead.
There's nothing simpler than flying from the ground ..
I learned to fly in an Aeronca 7AC Champ a long time ago. No add-on electronics or shoulder harness (those didn't exist then). I much preferred it to the J-3 Cub which I also flew then.
Where is that airport?

Over 65 years ago, my first general aviation flight was in the back seat of a Champ from my father’s farm pasture. Thank you for sharing. Jim
was flying a champ out of Nacogdoches, Tx back in the mid 60's. Lots of fun.
I guess this is Douglas, Cork not Douglas, Isle of Man
Yes, one of the nicest places on earth.🌟
