First GORUCK BASIC Event? Training tips on how to prepare!

Hey guys! Here is a quick video about ways to train and physically prepare for a GORUCK BASIC rucking event. In this video you will get my perspective and ideas about how to train for a goruck basic and what training program(s) I would recommend. The BASIC (formerly known as the goruck “light”) is the shortest event that GORUCK puts on in their “challenge” type events. It’s a very introductory ...

    Good day, sir! I just watched your video on training for a goruck basic. I just recently signed up for a basic. And I’m very new to rucking,hiking any outdoors/outside a gym kinda stuff . It’s hard to find contact as to what to actually expect and what to train for. The Videos from you that I watched seem to be exactly what I was looking for. Thank you and I look forward to watching the rest of your videos. Hopefully I can put my mind at ease, and hope to accomplish the basic.

    This is fantastic! Been rucking for a few months now. I also train consistently with kettlebells, DL’s, squats, sandbags, farmers walks, etc. I’ve rucked 6 1/2 with 30lb. Some weekends 5 on a Saturday, 6 on a Sunday. Question is running and/or jumping. I have a repaired torn achilles and torn medial meniscus so I can’t really sprint hard or jump too well but my GPP is pretty good. Would love your opinion on how I’d fair on a basic and/or a Tough. Thank you! I’m 57 btw. 5’9” 185. Thanks for your advice. I was thinking of doing the 4/1/23 Basic in NYC.

    Great review and good show on how much space and how it would apply to your individual use. I gave two reviews of the Cerberus in my Channel and will do another after been using as my daily EDC to work.......ua-cam.com/play/PLLHjhO7HKaERf-AubPLQzMg33nJFAu7h3.html. It's capacity is both it's limitation and strength in my case. It further pushed me to make better decisions on what is truly essential to carry and not. Been using either my Mystery Ranch ASAP, Front or Coulee 25 for my EDC for Spring and Summer. 3DAP or No Escape for Fall and Winter. With the Spartan/Cerberus with a bit of prioritizing my real daily carry, it checks those boxes and maintain in its comfort to carry those items. A first for me is being able to sling one shoulder strap and not have slide off. Again because of the weight due to limited capacity. Just finished adding Fidlock to the tail, so that's another I will add to my review. Again, thanks for this review. Add me as another Subscriber. Cheers

    Just found your Chanel, because I got mine in woodland yesterday and just searched it to see what everyone was saying. I too wanted the black one But when it was my turn in the queue it said there was an error and i had to get back in line after another hour it was my turn again and woodland was all that was left i was so pissed but as soon as i opened the box I was like whoa this actually looks really good!!! I took screen shots of the error and everything planed on raising some hell but now I’m glad it happened. Look forward to more videos.

    • @rubbercityrucker
      @rubbercityrucker 2 роки тому

      No not at all! Most of the time in a basic you might be around the 20 min/mile pace and at times you might have to shuffle. The good thing is the basic event will typically not go over 8-10 miles total in a 4-6 hour stretch with breaks throughout.

    Ohio! I bet there's some good rucking back there? I was born and raised in Jackson and used to go hiking at Old Man's Caves. Now I have to ruck the canal roads in southwestern Arizona. I took my Rucker 4.0 25L out today and I think it's to big, the lumbar pad was riding right on my waist band of my shorts and didn't feel comfortable. I just ordered the 20L version!

    Thanks for the review! Do you have a standard GR2 in 500D/1000D? If so, how would you compare the standard against the Kaidans? I have both Kaidans and recently bought a GR2 1000D. I really like the V1, I just wish it had the quick access pocket. I like the V2 for the quick access pocket, but wish I had the V1's tougher material (VX42) and PALS webbing. Honestly, I may sell both and stick with the 1000D standard.
