How I Restored My 1930 Fordor Model A Ford
Today's video is a blast from the past!
I purchased this 1930 Murray Body Model A Ford three window fordor in February 1998, and began its restoration. Come along for the ride as we do a complete ground up restoration. We committed to take part in a long tour of Canada being held in July 2003, a year after starting the project, and end up racing the clock to beat the deadline to participate. Stay tuned to the end of the video to see how that turned out.
The restoration process was filmed using a hand help camcorder on 8mm tape cassettes, which I recently had digitized so I could put together is video. I did this restoration 27 years ago, when I was younger, thinner, and better looking.
If you like watching before/after videos, or if you have a fordor needing restoration, or you're considering purchasing a fordor, this video will show you the entire process to get it looking as good as new.
Come along for the rides we travel back to the late 90's, and experience a different segment of the Model A hobby, a ground up restoration.

@@MrBrendog67rat I was very stressed about the engine because I had it for years before I ran it. But the builder knew I hadn’t run it. He replaced it without any issues at all. I was so relieved. About two years after I finished mine, I did a 31 Slant windshield that belonged to a friend. Much less wood in a 31. It’s the wood work that is extremely challenging in a 30. Let’s just say I hope I never have to do it again. However, back in 2016, I almost lost this car, as the parking brake failed to hold, and it almost rolled into a ravine. The opening view of the A is great, what is the color of the car? I also didn’t realize your A is a survivor, you should do a video of the car’s history. Glad to see you back in the drivers seat.

@@Kybossls I’ll have to look up the paint color in the paint guide and get back to you. As far as the history of the car goes, I’m the third owner. Original owner had it from 1930-1940. Second owner purchased the car in 1940 as a college student, and owned the car until his death in 1998, (owned it 58 years). Second owner was a model A club member of a club I was also a member of. I was able to buy the car from his daughter upon his death. I have now owned the car for over 25 years. Mechanically the car was wore out when I purchased it, as it has always been a running car (never stored away). So I did a complete mechanical restoration on it between 2000-2003. I’ve put 24,000 miles on it since 2003.
