I had the PAE done two times and it didn't work I am still on Flowmax and started taking Dutesteride. It seems I am back to square one. I also take a water pill for High blood pressure. Any suggestions. Dr. Blake? My main problem is I don't want to destroy the prostate. So that is why I chose PAE and they used a very expensive Glue the second time instead of a Beeded solution. Not sure why it didn't work. Was it done incorrectly?
This video and many of the other comments from those who have had this procedure are very helpful. I had PAE don just this past Friday and I am now in my third day of recovery. The symptoms are sever burning upon urination, difficulty with starting to urinate, fever that goes up and down all day and night. I found it encouraging to hear that it may take anywhere from 5 t0 10 days before I begin to see positive results. I sure hope that holds true because so far, I have regretted it.
@bhaj4588 I was wondering it's now 6-23-2024, how are you doing? I am thinking of doing the same thing. Would appreciate a progress report. Thank you.
@@hlender The first week was touch and go but by day 10 I was feeling great, and the plumbing was working fantastic! I am back to everything working as it should and as it was before I had the prostate problem. It's like I have been completely healed! Amazing.
@@bhaj4588 Thank you so much for your reply. I've done a ton of research and 99% are positive. I'm in St Louis, MO and I'm searching for the best IR that will do the Job. I've narrowed it down to 2 DRs. It's a go for me. Thanks again for your reply. It helped a lot.
Can you give us an update?
Is the PAE procedure done by a Urologist or a Radiologist? My Urologist, as far as I know, has never done a PAE procedure but has done Green Light Laser, Turp, etc. I had Green Light Laser done in 2006 for severe BPH and am still doing well although my prostate is now larger than it should be but I still uriniate fine. Considering PAE just to reduce the overall size of the prostate as it is pushing against my bladder causing lower back pain 24/7.
PAE is done by an Interventional Radiologist.
Urologists need to learn to inform their patients of this option. I'm happy so far, 2 years out. In my case there was significant discomfort for over a week (not really pain). Maybe the prostate can't report discomfort but his buddy the penis can. I had to discover PAE here on UA-cam.
It seems nobody is answering follow up questions. A bit concerning😞
TURP - This procedure is more than 10 years old. It is barbaric, primitive, painful, risky and unreliable! Any of the latest procedures do not comply with the progress in medicine achieved in other branches of medicine, take for example heart procedures and angioplasty. None of 10 years old heart operations and procedures are applicable this days!!!!Is it because the least talented people are in urology or because it is about old people who no one cares abou
Thanks for the video. Its now 4 years since you posted this video - can you update us on your health, specifically your prostate. Are the positive results you experienced as a result of the PAE procedure still occurring? Have you experienced any negative affects from the smaller prostate - ie low amount of semen? Thanks
I tried a prostate artery embolization "PAE" nine weeks ago with zero results,. Prostate was at 120. Will be doing the Aquablation June 13th.
How are you doing now?
@@seascape35 All is good now. Did the Aquablation procedure. The new gold standard. Full bladder control. Not rushing to bathrooms anymore. Spent two days in hospital, left with catheter, removed four days later.
@@48Allie Thank you for sharing.
@@seascape35 While the PAE didn't work for me, I would recommend trying the PAE procedure first.
I did the Aquablation, it been 1.5 years. It is the best procedure on the market. Blessings!
I did PAE in Reno Jan 17 2023 with CIC in Reno It is great worked well== took only 2 months to allow me to pee again without a cath. PAE is great I highly recommend it for any man with BPH large prostate Mine was 120g 3x times larger and it shut me down from urination for months until PAE kicked in 2 months after doing it. PAE EXCELLENT
What does it cost to have PAE done?
Mine was cover by Medicare.
I couldn't get it done near me and the Dr. I seen about it wouldn't take my insurance so I ended up having T.U.R.P. It has been 3 weeks and I am peeing good. It was painful the first night but after that it wasn't bad. I would pee blood for 2 1/2 weeks. All good now. There telling me it will even get better in time. 4 to 6 months.@@refo51
I am a week and a half out from my PAE procedure. The first 12 hours were tough and the rest of the week was annoying. Felt good after about 6 days. I am already noticing results!
I'm so happy after my PAE. My PSA dropped from 6 to 2.5. I don't take flowmax anymore. I highly recommend PAE.
I am scheduled to have the PAE procedure on 10/31/22. I took Flow Max and did not like the retrograde ejaculation side effect. My Urologist wanted me to have a Holep procedure which results in retrograde ejaculation permanently. Didn't like that option even though it is a more long term solution. The major side effect caused me to look for something else. The PAE seems to be a good choice. While not permanent it is my hope that in 5 years or so they will have yet another procedure more permanent without nasty side effects. I am 67 and feel 45. Retrograde ejaculation feels like I gave up on my sex life and feeling like a man definitely a no-go for me now with Holep and Turp procedures. Hoping this procedure is my stop gap for now to a better nights sleep (not having to get up to the bathroom so many times).
Happy new year. How are you now ?
How did it go?
So with retrograde, you are actually jizzing yourself? Can you get pregnant from that?
Beware of this procedure! I had a PAE procedure at Alate Health in Houston done by Dr. Doe over a year ago. It was a complete FAIL! No improvement to date (8/19/22) All I got out of that procedure was a lot of discomfort and an ambulance ride to the hospital with a blood clot in my very swollen leg! Spent 2 days in the hospital. Dr. John Henry Fischer fixed the blood clot
This is BS, this will increase your chances of getting Cancer of the prostrate by many times! Cancer needs a low blood-flow area to grow and that is exactly what this procedure does!
It didn’t work for me! I still can’t urinate after 3 months.! Very disappointed!
it took two months for PAE to work on me I was in cath and could not pee when I had it done Jan 17 2023 It worked Mar 14 2023 I recommend PAE. You John After 3 months it should have worked has it now? what did the DR say?
@@sailwinds69 The radiologist said that he didn’t have a clue to why it didn’t work. He took 4 1/2 hours to do this Prostate Artery Embolization. He was the head of the radiology department . He said he would not do it again but I could go somewhere else and get it done again . He recommended take medication and have my urologist offer another alternative. My urologist told me before that he didn’t think P A E was any good. My urologist said it would be better to get TURP , Trans Urethral Resection of the Prostate. Well I didn’t do that. And I don’t take medication because before ... in the beginning I took medication and I couldn’t function (hard to sleep, got very dizzy, would lose my balance). I have been using a catheter that I put in by myself. I will try infrared light therapy and then maybe acupuncture. Thank you for your concern. Also this was the first time since I was 24 years old that went to see a doctor ( no blood test, no medication ever nada, nothing.!) I will be 72 in two weeks. Take care, from my heart to yours, Michael ❤️🎶
Try rezume or pae again rezume Is office procedure. Each person is individual veins can be different... doctor did mine in about 40 minutes and told me it turned out excellent. I believe successful treatment is 90percent . did you have urology fill. You with liquid through cath then take it out to see if it would work? Sounds like you have the same over large prostate and you need to get some procedure to fix it like I have
Have you checked Dr bagla on UA-cam? He's an expert on pae done thousands
How much is the cost of PAE if you pay on your own pocket ?

This was a well done video. He answered the question of how long before he felt any result. I only wish he had addressed any post procedure side effects during his recovery. This was very good however.
Had the surgery on Monday have experienced burning from rectum all the way to emptying difficulty urinating now Saturday improving a bit but still difficult hoping by day 10 it will be a different story

Does Womezon Remedy (google it) help me cleanse my fibroid issue naturally ? I see many people keep on talking about this fibroid treatment.
I have gotten a few e mails from my posts so I will answer them the best I can. A normal prostate is 25 grams. As men get older the prostate grows and squeezes the urethra which causes all the problems. Many procedures to cut away tissue around the urethra. They cut with knifes, lasers and now water jets. Pretty good results but when you cut there is 3-6 week recovery. There is uro-lift that does not involve cutting but instead they out spacers which pushes the prostate tissue away from urethra. The “gold”standard is TURP which is cutting away tissue with a razor. All of these procedures are effective for prostates up to 70-80 grams. Simply, if prostate is too big there is too much tissue to cut away or too much tissue to use uro-lift. Having prostate partially or fully removed is tricky as large prostate equals lots of blood supply. PAE is great because it cuts off blood supply to inner part of prostate which is squeezing urethra. No cutting. Short recovery time great results. They have only done this with prostates that are bleeding (hematoria) or more than 100 grams. Probably works just as well with smaller prostates but now you are stepping on the toes of the urologists. I think this issue is political and financial. All I can say is that it should be done by a Board Certified Interventional Radiologist with specialized training. If not, find the right doctor and hospital. Lots of them around. I had fabulous result and it is relatively low risk.
Hi...my prostate is 28cc and i will turn 40 in 4months....i hv gone thru uroplasty surgery for stricture....i hv urinary problems...doc told me to take alfoo tablets as i have prostate.sometimes the flow is good but sometimes its minimal....i dont know what is the issue..plzz help me

@@chandubodapati700 Is 28cc the same as 28grams?
I had the procedure in July. I was very uncomfortable for five days, I took a good amount of Advil. It is not really pain. It burns when you urinate, you feel you haven’t emptied and some burning near the rectum. But, by the 4th or 5th day you notice the flow is increasing and you empty your bladder. By 5th or 6th day pain is gone. Honestly, by the 8th day I felt as if I was “cured”. Three to four hours between urinating, only got up twice and the once during night. AMAZING IMPROVEMENT!
Hey did u have Ed with the bph if so after this did those issues stop too
2 years later, how are you doing now?
@@TheTruthSeeker756 You will never get an answer. Check Johns Hopkins for good results.
Four years later how are you doing? What's your current status?
Why isn’t this the gold standard ? The field seems to be in a mess with too many competitive options.
Exactly how I feel. A new procedure every few years but none is the gold standard and is fully effective and safe. The urology field needs to fix this.
@@westfield90 Hello. I think urology itself should be fixed in the first place.
@@peterbrown6867 Exactly. Urologists won't even tell you about PAE because they can't do it. It seems to me a urologist should want to give a patient the very best care, even if that requires an interventional radiologist rather than a urologist. Seems unethical to me that they keep PAE a secret.
@@HJC1950 Thanks for the reply. The old fashion urologist, wants to use TURP. He would tell you if you ask for non-invasive approach. I think the gold standard of today , could be PAE, and Rezum.
Urolift is a quick and effective option like PAE
I was very uncomfortable for five days. Frequent urge to urinate and it burned. You get something called perineal pain. This is area near your rectum. I popped a lot of Advil. Psychologically, you get a little depressed because you actually feel worse. But, beginning g with the 5th day my flow increased, no pain and within 9 days I felt like I was cured. Amazing results.
did you do this procedure with Dr. Demeritt? After 2 months how do you rate the percentage of improvement?
@@imluzhin No answer as usual.
@@jeffj318 what was the question? I am confused what I am supposed to answer.
How’s it going now. In all areas of function…if that’s okay to ask.
@@robseibertgulfcoastrealest3243 I am very happy I had the procedure. It was done by David Johnson of Lee Hospital and my life has improved without any side effects. Highly recommend it.
I did the embolisation 2 days ago. I would appreciate too much if the patient who already did the embolization could possibly share the level of pain they had just immediately after and describe them. Thanks!!!!
I had the procedure three weeks ago. First five days you may experience post-PAE syndrome. Frequent need to urinate, burning sensation and some pain. But, by 5th day the flow really improves and by 8th day it was a miracle. Take ibuprofen for first 5 days and you will be rewarded with tremendous results. I cannot believe the extent of my improvement.
What's the cost ?
I am on Medicare so they and my co-insurance covered it 100%. Check with your insurance company.
Di you have this procedure with Dr. Demeritt? How would you rate the percentage of improvement?

Thanks for posting I have the same problem and have been considering this procedure for some time so your video was most helpful. Could I ask you for some idea of the cost of the procedure as I will be paying for it out of my own pocket.
I've been to 2 different hospitals: Hackensack Meridian & Yale in New Haven. My insurance Highmark would not cover the procedure and I had to enroll in Medicare and Plan G. The self-at cost at Yale was $62,000.00. There is a doctor in University of North Carolina, Ari Isaacson that does the procedure for a lot less. I would also question the doctor on how many successful operation they have performed. It's not a slam dunk: each of us has a different arterial map.
$12000 cost I paid Jan 2023 to cic they have many offices az Utah NV Oregon. It worked for me
