The new T-128 replacing this siren has been recently installed right behind the municipal building. The STL still stands, but is more than likely decommissioned.

This is one awesome monster, and sure to get your attention during the most inclement weather! Incredible!

Saw this siren for the first time yesterday, and of course the new T-128 has been installed that will be replacing this siren. But the new install of the new siren is probably the dumbest I have seen. The T-128 is pole mounted RIGHT next to the building, and of course the Water towers is taller than the siren, so the building is basically acting as a wall blocking about 1/3 of its sound coverage. The new siren is at the intersection of North Bend Rd and Colerain Ave.

I have NO IDEA why I'm captivated by the sound of these bloody sirens. They serve their purpose extremely well! They're just....ghostly, and bring back a lot of fear as a young kid growing up near Cincinnati in the mid 70's. I recall feeling very lucky that, at least, we had a southwest facing corner in our cement and brick basement where we knew we would always be able to ride out a tornado. The sirens going off in the middle of the night were the absolute worst, tho. Panic out of dead sleep!

I'll have to go look for it sometime.

The replacement for this one may have been installed in front of Sears at the Western Hills Shopping Center, a few miles away though. Havent confirmed yet if thats the actual replacement for this one

@Jpressman8 Chemical spills!! Not even a natural disaster, but a man-made disaster. Somehow, that's even more frightening.

It's a weird, scary, and otherworldly sound that lets you know that BAD things may be on the way! Any time I hear these sirens, it brings back April 3rd, 1974, when I was 13 and all of the tornados hit the tri-state, not to mention wiping out half of Xenia, Ohio. When these sirens go off at 3 a.m. along with thunder, and it wakes you out of a dead sleep, the adrenalin flows! So does the fear, and there is nothing you can do about it - but get down in the SW corner of your pitch-black basement.

Absolutely awesome!! Not only working at "peak" capacity, but showing the "beauty" of how these mechanically superior sirens work to save lives.

Theres now a T-128 standing next to this one too, most likely not hooked up yet

Men, i was woken up at 1:38 EXACTLY in the morning from ym weather radio, and i stayed up through the whole storm, ALL NIGHT, and somehow, didnt fell asleep during school, lol.

Great how the T-Bolts over power the T-128! There is no mistaking the sound of a dual toned T-Bolt!

Great video Jason! So the Mt Airy 1000 has been having the exact same issues where the breaker tripps for the rotator from the snow? The White Oak 1000T sounds cool

It sounds like the White Oak 1000T is rotating at 4 RPM. Nice vid.

@Jpressman8 Actually sounds more like 3 at the highest. Unless it could be running on a 208V service, then it might be around 4. Great video Jason!

I live a little morth of Tri county in Heritage Hill... I can hear four or five distinct sirens here when they go off... couldn't tell you what they are though...

@kalinga01 I live in california, and would give anything to have one of those sirens across the street from me, and live in the heart of tornado alley....I dream of living with severe weather, and watching storms build up and become threatening, and the sirens going off...you have no idea how boring it is to live where there is no exciting weather.....

@Jpressman8 Awesome! I stay out there too, on the south end near the stickney point bridge. Do you stay up near the village or down towards my end? BTW Pink Floyd is my favorite band.

Driven over this many times. I go to Sarasota each year to escape the Minnesota winter for a couple of weeks. I take this route south from the airport. Always a fun drive over the bridge.

Nice video of the Holyoke (ALL CLEAR) Siren Test! No Air Raid Tone was sounded!!

@SavageRob2K6 It was likely a test.

This has a 25hp motor and why it rotates is beyond me. The thing really doesn't project anything out the horn in the front.

I think that it's cool that you post these experiences.
