    Why are checking CAT temps or performance and not diagnose the misfire first. Misfire will no doubt trigger P0420. P0014 can be caused for low oil, or damaged hydraulic actuator, wrong code for solenoid. All the oil on the engine, oil burning, low oil. Rarely is it a sensor, and service instructions say to diagnose the P0014 first. Need a better scan tool, that can give misfire PIDs. Need to put your schrader valve back in your gauge. Clear flood crank would have indicated compression loss.

      I just went in the order of easier diagnosis first. Yea. Looking back compression test would've negated all the other tests. But, it's a also a matter of making content. Can't make everyone happy. I'm ok with that.

    Those steering box seals always seem to fail on me. I actually think it's the steering components angles making more strain on steering box. Proper steering geometry eluded Chrysler. Usually dw I find is at the track bar mount on the axle. I had to weld in my track bar drop bracket. Eventually I ended up moving track bar mount to where steering dampener mount is. With shorter track bar parallel to axle. To check for dw on track bar have someone else move steering back and forth and look for any play or movement on track bar. I have also found if you jack up one side of axle and tire turns as you jack you have components fighting each other. Bad ball joints can also increase dw chances. I have had to drill out my track bars bushing for bigger bolts after stock bolt ovals out. I like moog's problem solver track bar mount bushing. It has extra metal sleeves that seem to help. Stock control arms can allow movements too. It seems like every 4-5 years I am redoing jeep steering. Found running stock sway bar links with lift helps. They help with less body roll which seems to help with steering component longevity.

    • @jerseyshorefabricators7431
      @jerseyshorefabricators7431 6 місяців тому

      Great comments and yes I agree. I personally like to use heim joints that are rebuildable. However, on such a small lift, rubber components are fine. This jeep will most likely never see off road, at least not what I'm used to anyway. My test for a track bar issue is pretty simple. Jeep not moving, move steering wheel back and forth. If I feel the body moving above the axle, it's time. Thanks for the comment.

    Just a quick thought I had watching you put the mount in the console, couldnt you have put the L brackets BEHIND the panel and used black colored screws on the front side through holes drilled in the console and the L brackets and used nuts to tighten them down? seems like that would LOOK better?. I do have a question though... I LOVE the idea of the heat shrink wrap wit the solder in it... but I would do a radio change maybe once every 5-10 years (it's been at least that long since i installed an aftermarket radio) so can't justift buying a heat gun for 1 use every 5-10 years... does a hair blow dryer put out enough heat to melt the solder and shrink the wrap?

    • @jerseyshorefabricators7431
      @jerseyshorefabricators7431 7 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching! I believe I may changes the mounts somehow, but outside of the factory panel is the same. Can't see it from the driver seat. As far as the connectors, yes, hair dryer works and so does a mini torch.

    I would NOT trust a magnetic drain plug on anything designated / used for "offroad"... and that oil filter being that tight could be the result of a quickie oil shop not changing the filter due to the annoying filter location... I worked in one of the quickie oil change spots for a few years... I have witnessed many filter changes SKIPPED due to annoying location. EDIT: I have a 2018 z71 Colorado and this video may lead you to believe that this internal filter change is a lot easier... trust me, that oil filer is deep into the engine compartment and at a slight angle.... the angle and the required extension "throws off" a cheap torque wrench.
