    Thank you for your response. I have the vertical coax x,y knob on the stage's right rear. Could you send me the link for x,y stage friction adjustment of this Zeiss? I've tried multiple searches here, but I never get anything but information on modern Zeiss scopes. I'm very reticent about disassembly until I understand what I'm doing. If there are no links, can you make a short video on this topic?

    Help! I have a 1969 Zeiss Standard Model 18 Phase Contrast scope. It has the large slide stage. The stage X,Y movements are too loose, too sensitive to my touch. Is there a way to add friction to the movements? I looked around for an adjustment screw, but I didn't fine anything. Thank you so much for this informative video. Keith Stout

      I have the same Std 18 'scope but maybe not the same x-y stage. Yes, you can adjust both the lash (slack) in each axis as well as the friction. My x-y stage has coax knobs on a horizontal shaft at the rear of the stage. The x-axis moves on a screw, while the y-axis is rack and pinion. I can adjust the x-axis friction and lash together from an access screw on the top centre of the stage at the rear. It essentially enables the clamp pressure on the horiz shaft to be tightened. Many 'scopes have a coax vertical shaft below the right rear corner. I've seen instructions for adjusting the friction on this here on youtube. In short, yes adjustments can be made, persevere and if necessary carefully disassemble, but take care - don't lose the small parts and take photos as you go in case you forget how it goes together.

    I have 2 Magicscopes that have the brand BROCK stamped on the back. I've noticed, most don't. Why the difference? Does anyone out there know?

    I have a question: is the build quality of a Zeiss KF2 microscope equivalent to that of a Standard Zeiss (14-16-18-20)? Thanks in advance. Giovanni

    When I turn the fine adjustment to raise and lower the platform, it may take several quick turns to get the platform to move. Is there something I or you can do to gain control of this adjustment so the platform will more consistently instead of after I move it quickly several times?

    What is the purpose of the coffee filter? Are you looking only at the water left on the top, or what drains to the bottom as well?

      Be careful not to breathe it in -- it could be brain eating amoebae (real thing)

    • @jackemled
      @jackemled 4 роки тому

      @@hypercoder-gaming Amoebae are too large to be airborne, you won't have to worry about breathing them in. You do still have to worry about accidentally eating them though, but it's much easier to manage that by just washing your hands. Brain eating amoeba infections usually only happen when you drink unclean river water, you can kill the amoebae & make the water safer to drink by boiling it.

    Non of that is high power. Compared to the average school microscope this is very weak. There are different kinds of microscopes tho. If you want to get a good look at these things buy a good microscope online. There are some that are lower priced but not as good quality. I use an amscope 40x through 2500x microscope. The lenses are 4x 10x 40x and 100x (oil immersion lens). I have 2 convex lenses that are 10x and 25x. So the magnifications that my microscope can go to are 40x, 100x, 250x, 400x, 1000x, and 2500x. The quality is good and it's not too expensive. You can get it when it's on sale for less than $200!
