Satisfactory itself holds a dear place in my heart and honestly I would say it can be held up next to Minecraft on the level of pure creativity you can unleash in this game. The factory and automation as well as the logistics elements of the game just takes it to the next level. On top of that the world is beautiful and the sound design is top tier!

    Honestly, thank you for making this video. Trying not to be salty, how the Satisfactory community and development team (kind of) handles pipe mechanics and physics is annoying. Being told that I basically have a skill issue for years just to find out that there are several bugs to pipes justifies the frustration I went through. Pre-1.0, I quit a save file just because of problems I had with Mk 2 pipes not having a perfect 600/min flow rate. Now finding out that there is a floating-point number bug with Mk2 pipes, which makes perfect sense. Honestly a shame this video doesn't have more views, as it goes into great detail about how players should implement pipes into their worlds. Other guides I've seen just talks about head lift and may briefly mention to not make long fluid manifolds for an unspecified reason. Thanks again.

    • @jackblade281
      @jackblade281 7 годин тому

      Yea, and a lot of the problems with Mk2 pipes have been fixed at this point, but you still have random stuff pop up constantly, I even had it in my last Let's Play episode too XD where headlift was not applied like it should. Had to put in another set of pumps

  • @a_r_3
    @a_r_3 22 години тому

    wait, so is it bad practice to place pumps or junctions directly on the pipe? I need to place them first or to replace the pipe at all ends so that it is no longer considered 1 pipe but many pipes? So far I haven't paid attention to this and everything works with my coal power plant or the oil factory.

      Yea its a known bug, but if your setups work, don't touch it XD if stuff is not working, then start with that step

    For the trains, you can have as many freight cars as you want, just add additional locomotives to help with the pull power. And the power useage is based of locomotives and not ammounts of carts. It draws more power while accellerating. so a flat train track will use alot less power than a up and down one

    • @jackblade281
      @jackblade281 День тому

      I made 15 car trains in the U8 series, the ultimate problem I ran into was not the pull power or power consumption, it was that throughput, I would have been better served with 4 trains and 4 stations instead

    Beautiful colour effects. I really should go more bold with the paint in my own build 😅. And personally, I dont think grav-tech is a cheap-out in a world where your pockets hold literal tons of building materials, your buildgun is capable of instantly creating complex machinery in a 40x40x40 block of objects and teleportation systems are unlocked along the way. Grav-tech seems perfectly in line with this level of technology

    • @jackblade281
      @jackblade281 2 дні тому

      I cap every vehicles section with "when should you use it". BUt here is the gist of it: - Trucks and Tractors are for local, low quantity transfers. - Trains are for any distance but large quantity transfers. - Drones are for low quantity long distance transfers.

    • @dmgdmgdmg2122
      @dmgdmgdmg2122 День тому

      @ thanks for replying, I did enjoy the vid but I think a good way to wrap up each section would be a practical use of each transportation method. For example I’m making a nuclear power plant in the middle of the map, where the only viable way to get thousands of units of water to it would be to use a train, because of the sheer throughout. A drone or truck wouldn’t be able to keep up, but a drone would be able to access a hard to reach area. Or a truck could be useful because I have spare fuel for it nearby.

    • @jackblade281
      @jackblade281 День тому

      yea definitely trains, probably multiple trains and stations to ensure the input flow is higher than the consumption XD

    I'd love to see some strategies in action. What would happen if we built a train circuit around and through the whole map vs using drones to transport across the map. Also, you mentioned a drone fueling hub, what does that look like?

      I have gotten some stream question and also some comments asking about more details for Drones. That video is coming next week! I have some videos on Trains on my channel, and I will be making some complex world wide combinations of all three vehicle types in my let's play, I also use mostly tractors in my first city, so check anywhere in episode 2-11 to see tons about trucks and tractors :P

    I built a sprawling highway across biomes powered by trucks and turbo fuel. I reason this because. [A] Trucks do not require additional power as I scale up transport of materials. And [B] Trucks could start off with a terrible pathing and be guaranteed to make its destination, even when they happen to crash, trains need manual intervention if they crash. And [C] Opinion, Its a game about exploitation. Why not go to the dark side and follow what planet earth has done by giving all the infrastructure to the car and fossil fuels? We're not here to do the right thing by using clean fuels transported by train. What are we, commies?!

    This is legitimately better than most videos on here right now. I wish you could make a more in depth video about drones. Me and my cousin are having trouble right now with them, due to the batteries we never used them before, and our test setup showed some limitations, appearently, but we´re not sure if we did something wrong, or if the drones are not working to well. We wanted to use them for distances and terrains that Trains would be overkill or impossible due to terrain but too long for belts.

    • @jackblade281
      @jackblade281 3 дні тому

      I could do that, no problem :P People do like some deep dives so why not? Just keep in mind, like you said there might be limitations regardless, because all vehicles has some inefficiencies that just won't happen to belts

      @@jackblade281 I would definitely like a comparison of different fuel types for drones. I have yet to figure out why liquid biofuel is so much better than packaged turbofuel or packaged fuel in the jetpack.

    • @jackblade281
      @jackblade281 2 дні тому

      @@john_in_phoenix that is a subjective topic, turbofuel is better for vertical boosting, liquid biofuel is slower than the others but a tank lasts for a lot longer, rocket fuel sends you into the stratosphere, normal fuel is just meh at all the things, but it's mostly about what you desire the jetpack to do that's important. I am gonna script and record a Drone Video for going live on thursday I think, we will see how things shake out, might be tuesday the week after as well

    • @StrifeA217
      @StrifeA217 День тому

      @@john_in_phoenix the fuel types are different depending on what we are talking about. For the jetpack it has to do with vertical boost, manuverability and burn times. Liquid biofuel has a long burn time with decent vertical and manuverability in the jetpack, where as rocket fuel has higher vertical and manuverability but a shorter burn time. In drones it's really just going to affect flight speed. Batteries are the middle ground with ionized rocket fuel and plutonium being the fastest.

    Nice vid. I do mine slightly different. I have one blueprint for plastic and one for rubber. For plastic, 90 fuel input runs one Recycled rubber which I also Prime with 200 Plastic. The output is split and sent to 2 recycled plastic. 30 plastic is then sent back to the first refinery and the remaining 90 is merged and set down the line. I then just create a line of these blueprints to use all the fuel. For rubber I just swap the recipies and prime with rubber. This keeps everything very simple and easy to replicate wherever I want. I do use diluted fuel, so for 600 Crude oil I am getting 720 plastic and 720 rubber. The spare 160 fuel that is left is used to make 80 packaged fuel and run 4 generators.

    >when is it best to use drones, trucks and trains? For low volume end product items like computers, etc. NEVER Most times. I personally in 1.0 have been playing with regional distribution offices. That is each major biome (a la dune/rocky desert) or cluster of smaller biomes (a la bamboo forest/craters/jungle or titan forest/swamp/blue crater) has a single large rail complex with several small unload stations of about 2 car lengths each that unload into the facility and are then sorted into a few loading stations at 10 cars length for like iron, copper, limestone, and other. So, there are little loading stations around clusters of nodes that just have anything fed into them, the regional short trains pull in and grab a mixed load of whatever, they take it to the regional station where it is sorted out into the large bulk stations for the really long trains, the really long trains take it to bulk factories like the copper processing plant, the steel foundry, etc. then second tier bulk trains will move stuff like wire/plastic/steel pipes/whatever to secondary facilities. Drones are better for the stuff like (super)computers, motors, radio units, etc so they do that. It all works better than anything else I’ve ever done which is just having main rail lines and trains on a cycle picking up from clusters. I still have the oil, nitrogen, bauxite and uranium trains riding the main lines back to their facility given the fact bauxite is in a geographical line and only has one processing plant, that oil and nitrogen require fluid cars and stations which are unique to only those processes and the uranium train is self explanatory.

The larger roads connecting biomes have the train tracks added on but in certain situations I have the train tracks also splitting off without roads for scenic routes and shortcuts

    I finished the game a few days ago only with belts... or, to be more precise, with one long single sushi belt bringing in mostly finished products to my main base. Playing without a graphics card, previous attempts with huge factories, and bus systems with dozens of belts, had been cut short by more and more graphics glitches. In my next play-through, I'll play with all the transport options, just for the fun of it.

    You will NEVER get 2400ppm per train station, due to the pause in load/unload you mentioned. With properly set up buffers you can get more than 1 belt, but it is impossible to get 2 full belts per car. There is a balance of belt speed vs stack size vs round trip time vs the loading pause. Train round trip times can be too long, where you need to add a second train or more cars. But train lines can actually be too short as well, where the stations spend too much time paused and even a buffer cannot help. Typically the larger the stack size the longer the train line can be. If the item has a small stack size, then more cars or more trains might be needed. (Stack size affects trucks and drobes as well)

    For the buffers to work at your train stations you need both belts connected between the buffer and the station. This way the buffer can double time after the train leaves to make up for the time it was paused.

    Finally someone who can explain what's going on here. I have experienced the same issues with pipes in Rust. I found all those work arounds myself just playing around for hours. I don't have that kind of time nowadays. I was hoping for an answer from someone else's time while I'm away from the game. Your video is just that! Thanks! Also to address the programming issues and "it's Coffee Stain's fault" comments. I used to play with programming and if you have repeating decimals in the calculations you get instability. It's hard to solve these issues easily. It's best to work around the programming bugs as best you can and hopefully one day it'll get figured out. Just like we're figuring out work arounds and spending more time than it feels like we should on this problem, Coffee Stain programmers are doing the same with the programming. The difference is this is our leisure time and they are under time crunches and are expected to perform. Be a little more understanding.

    Seems like the idea can be boiled down to ‘push’ vs ‘pull’ manufacturing. In the end you still have to contend with what happens when you need more than you’re producing, and you slip from a push state in to a pull state. As the theme of the game is more more-ing, at some point this is going to happen, unless you build from the beginning with the foresight of knowing exactly how much of everything you will need…at which point you are playing Excel and not Satisfactory.

    Question, working on fixing flow rate issues for an oil build, everything worked for about an hour, and then some of my machines have inadequate flow. I have 4 extractors that are interconnected via manifolds after entering the factory, I assumed that if you connected 4 machines pumping 120m3 the combined oil available to all pipes would be 480m3, therefore meeting the input requirements required for any machines connected to any of the 4 pipes. Does anyone have any information on the proper set up to do this? Edited: to clarify there are still 4 separate pipes, but for example one of the lines has 4 machines requiring 60m3 of oil each. So my question is since the total available oil is 480 and the 4 pipes are interconnected at one point the pipe should still have enough oil to feed the 4 machines? Or no?

    • @jackblade281
      @jackblade281 5 днів тому

      if you have 4 machines requiring 60 each, and you are pumping in 480, you should have no problem, if you have 8 machines, using the full 480, there might be some issues because you need the 100% efficient feeding. Remember a mk1 pipe can only take 300 so if you are combining pipes at any point brinigng the needed flow rate over 300 you bottleneck the input, outside of that: Here is a list of things you can check through and make sure is set up properly - Always replace pipes if you have placed a module of some kind that splits the pipe, or place module first and then connect pipes - Short manifolds, would say max 15 machines in one manifold before you are dancing with the devil - Feed fluids down into machines, not up into them - Always saturate the entire pipe system, machines and buffers 100% before turning it on (there are edge cases where this is bad or impossible though) - Valves and fluid buffers are essential for a 100% efficient and 100% stable system - Place pumps JUST BEFORE you go vertical, not after. - Place additional pipes a little before the holographic indicator tells you the next pumps needs to be placed, it can be just on the edge of headlift and cause some 2-3% fluctuation in flow rates. These are two other videos where I talk about flow rates and stuff, some of this might help! Using just recycled recipes, it’s a 1:1 output. Incorporating diluted fuel gives a 1:3 output. There’s a spot in the northeast that has 900 oil, next to two water frackers, and it gives you exactly what you need to make 1350 plastic and rubber each (2700 total). The location is a tad awkward to build in, but just make sure your platforms are raised a fair amount.

    Me again, lol Now I've watched the whole thing Definitely subscribed Everything makes sense, except one thing It seems SINKS existing in this build at all is antithetical to the factory layout in general, which is to buffer and back up as much as possible. If your highest tier stuff is being sunk all the time, doesn't the factory never back up at all, since they technically consume more than you produce? Hypothetically, I'm thinking of having a second smart splitter before the one leading to the buffer bin. This one would let the item flow to the buffer/bus be any, and overflow be to a sink. If this works as I think it will, what that means is you'll only sink things when stuff later in the line is no longer using whatever component that is, AND your buffers are full. Basically sinking stuff in reverse order of making, so your base ore/ingot will be the last thing also being sunk in this setup, ever. Likely will never happen though if something higher tier is being sunk Also has the positive effect of sinking the most valuable stuff for most tickets. Could probably also use lower tier belts to artificially limit sink throughput And then also I can be lazy and leave all the sinks on 😂😂😂😂😂😂
