Need a smoother video.
maybe they destroyed the fountain later because 1. maybe they didn’t know if they were really going to destroy it or not and 2. they probably needed some more room around the fountain in order to demolish it
Just think, this mall was very busy full of people shopping. It's ashame how today's people shops online now. Great memories of this beautiful mall. Still have the pair of high heels from the wild pair. Bought in 1992, thank you for this clip.
Looks apocalyptic...
So sad, spent many hours here with me buddies from high school
Thanks for making this. Best video I’ve seen showing the details of the mall
i would love to have something from this mall even 1 red tile anything its very sad to see it go
There’s a group on Facebook with fans of this mall, some of which have actual tiles and other things taken from before it was torn down
It would've been cool to incorporate that fountain and that canopy somehow in the new Amazon fulfillment center. Kinda like a reminder of what once stood there.
17:58 did anyone see that in the top left corner??
Needs smooth jazz cover songs from 1990s songs
So sad this was my childood, It could have been donated or sold, I sat at that fountain in 1996 with my grandmother. The world of today is only profit, and not care about certain things anymore.
That fountain was nice it should of been removed before demolition actually started to preserve its a monument of the Former rolling acers mall.
The soundtrack was lovely, thanks for including it :)
Having never been to Rolling Acres, this is probably the best video I’ve seen as far as showing the layout of the mall.
That was SO sad! That fountain was beautiful. I'd love to have had a red tile as a souvenir of a once great mall.
I am always very curious, did you guys find some relics from the past in there? maybe stuff from the 80's or something? Great video by the way :)
Sadly the place been ransacked and gutted way before this was recorded
@@GameparkGames I think he meant within walls or ceilings, places that have been hidden till this time
I would have saved that old vintage Victoria Secret sign.
The town people are happy because the Rolling Acres Mall tore down. The Rolling Acres Mall is an eyes sore to the community about it.
*eye sore...
I thought it was demolished in 2017 or 18?
Another mall killed by diversity RIP .
Sad
A very sad day for everyone in every town that had a great mall...😪 growing up in the 70’s and 80’s culture I thought the township would have tried to preserve the fountain,or the chandelier you should have sold the RED tiles and donated the money to a local food bank ...... something seems very odd those of us who live in cold climate areas we tear down malls and build outdoor malls ????In their place, seniors “any age group”really have nowhere to walk and socialize ......now near me in my town Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania June 2018 I will be losing part of my youth memories Century III Mall will be closing it’s been coming for sometime “ like watching a friend “getting sick and dying ...you want to help but you can’t ....so remember the great times you had together......Peace😎✌️
So... did they save the fountain or what?
that mall must have had a different floor plan, I'm saying this because the main entrance way is a single floor, then when you get to a different part of the mall it has 2 levels, kinda wierd. I've never seen a mall built like that before. other malls that I've seen with 2 floors cover the entire building, this mall was different.
The bottom level was dug out on that side later on during a renovation. So you’re right in thinking it’s not original
Is that the central place of the mall where there were those beautiful escalators ? Sorry this mall has been demolished, I planned to pay a visit next year... I'm living in Europe. So, it's the end of a dream for me now :-(
It was center court, but the fountain was the central point there... the escalators and elevator you are referring to were down the corridor to the south by the infamous JCPenney atrium...
Thirty some years ago, I used to take my kids to this mall and eat in Restaurants around it. It used to be full of stores and full of people. Gradually, it started to decline when drug and violence drove the customers away. It is disgrace that our government has sent $150,000,000,000 to tiny country in the Middle East in the last thirty years, yet it has put zero effort and dollars to save our own communities in places like this in the mid-west.
The tiny country which shall not be named is plague upon the Earth. They will get theirs sooner or later.
Truth. May that tiny country burn in Hell.
You guys should keep the front part of the main entrance of the mall, y'know, that thing that had the rolling acres sign on it? Just put a nice coat of paint on it and put a new sign up there and boom, it still looks good. Just paint over the graffiti and the label scar from the old rolling acres sign...
THAT was one of the last parts to come down (as of December 2017)...
I have put together a Rolling Acres Mall tribute playlist on my page, with every Rolling Acres video I can find on here... there are plenty of videos like this, but what I am also looking for are more videos from when the mall was still open...
This is the saddest part of the entire demolition. It's like a final slap in the face. "Oh look, we saved the fountain for last"... Boom. Quite sad. Could've been saved I reckon. Sell me a tile please?
TheStumyu I don't live in Akron but I feel for those who used to frequent that mall
10:35 Rest in Peace fountain. The sound of your water spilling down to the little shimmering pool will forever echo in our hearts.
Wow... that "Picnic Place" sign lost most of its letters :(
i hope you got permission to do this.
Huh? Why? It’s a drone. Plus you can clearly see he’s one of the contractors by his outfit
wow 👍
are they trying to save that fountain it's beautiful I hope they do
OMG!!! IS THE FOUNTAIN OK AND ABLE TO BE REPURPOSED!?!?!?
Why has demo been stopped on the mall???
That was sad to watch.
THAT TOOK FOREVER
Why demolish everything around the fountain just to also destroy the fountain? That thing deserved a home or memorial.
ik im very late but so true tho :( it could have been a piece of history..
Awesome, I would have loved to have been there with my camera! Thanks for posting.
BEST footage of Rolling Acres I've seen! Fantastic job piloting the drone! Wonderful high-def, even in low-lit areas. It was almost like flying right through the mall myself!
They really should have preserved and restored that fountain...would have been a really neat piece of the past to have around. Just imagine, a brand new shopping center with the familiar red-orange fountain just inside the front door! That'd be so cool. But no, the city decides to just drop the whole canopy on it so it is crushed to smithereens. Perfect, now no one can enjoy it. Way to go guys...a piece of history, probably completely destroyed now.
:'(
I think we can fix this, re-open the mall, and make some cash.
Dear Eslich:It would mean so much to us if you would please somehow get footage of demolition of escalators and elevator. Is this a possibility?Unless this message comes too late...
Ceiling yelled out in agony to the fountain "help! It hurts" but fountain did not respond. As he began to topple, he said his last words "I did good. Goodbye!" Ceiling continued to topple onto fountain. Fountain said "I'm sorry." As he said that, ceiling fell. The entac skylight shattered. All was quiet.
sad i really loved that fountain i thought for sure they were going to keep it what would it have hurt..? a beautiful structure destroyed...sad very sad.....
As teens we used to buy ice cream at Baskin-Robbins and then see how far away we could be and still toss the pennies in the fountain.
What makes people think they have the right to break into these shuttered malls and vandalize and graffiti everything in sight!
11:20.😪
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
That is an awesome video. What drone did you use? The quality is great.
