This was just the information I needed. Other videos addressed disassembly cleaning reassembly of either the alternate style base plate or the polymer variety of AR mags. I was stumped at getting the follower back in place until I watched this. Thanks for anticipating just what I needed.
Thanks buddy. Just got a few 20rd okay industries original style mags and noticed the floorplate removal was different. Your video was a big help. Thanks much
I stripped the "steel" tab out and pried the rivets off just to get the anti-tilt follower in there. I couldn't even cram all 20 rounds in there because of the follower height
@chippster stephens Supposedly, the 20-round magazines issued in Vietnam were not intended for repeat use, hence their inferior spring and stamped, aluminum construction; they were loaded with no more than 18 rounds due to reliability issues. Is it lore fabricated by armchair historians, do you top your magazines off?
The Sunday Shooter they definitely fit 20rds but I personally always download my mags for longevity. I’m guessing that was what the fed was going for too. 2 more shots < two more months of mag life. I’m no expert though
Have u ever seen a Colt Vietnam era 20rd magazine with a 5rd adapter i it ?
U sure you can take a p mag follower and put it in a old usgi mag?
SUPER!!!!! Thanks!!!!!
Exactly what I needed. Found an old Colt AR15 Magazine that my dad had stashed away. Thanks so much!
Great vid Sir. Very helpful
Thanks...
Thank you
Thanks for the video. Was stumped on the removal and install on the follower.
USGI mags have a dry film lubricant applied and using a metal brush will remove the coating.
Superb video, very informative ! Thanks and ATB from Luxembourg 👍
Thanks for your video. It helped me out!

My colt AR mags have an extra piece of metal under that plastic bottom, any clues?
Thank you Sir for a great video. I caught hell the first time I disassembled a 20 rd GI mag. Great job explaining best technique.
Universal made 20 round mags for colt

I know this is a couple years old, but thanks. Good informative video.
I run my mags thru dishwasher, does a good job but if my wife ever finds out....
Can you put a magpul follower in the 20 round? Would you have to remove that clip thing?

@chippster stephens You served in Vietnam?
