People used to say this was the best sonic game back when it was exclusive to the mega cd. Now it’s more broadly available I think most people can see how poorly a lot of the game is designed when compared to 2 or 3.

Labyrinth zone boss was hell for me.... Even though it was very easy in the sega ages version...

I don't have much problems with the Carnival Night theme or every other music(s) in Sonic 3 and I, for some reason, enjoy Sonic Origins a lot. Sure, it has some problems, I will agree, but whenever I play the Origins version of Sonic 3, I think of it this way: From what I understood, there's no other way playing the original Sonic 3 nowadays unless you buy the physical copy of the game be it the Sega Mega Drive version or the Sega Saturn version (which I have), so playing the Origins version of Sonic 3, in my opinion, would be better than nothing.

I believe the term for music slowly rising in volume & intensity is crescendo.

Sonic origins and origins Plus are Wayyy over hated Especially in comparison To over game compilation’s People are complaining And making hate video’s against 10$ optional Dlc The digital Deluxe at launch was 45 And the base game right now is 30 and plus Is 40 So if you buy It right now It’s cheaper than the Definitive Launch edition and it comes with the Fun pack And stuff For playable Amy in every game and knuckles in cd and game gear game’s and Cheat manuals and random stuff like that it’s more than worth 40$

You deserve more subscribers. I would gladly watch a video about the original Metroid (or any Zelda and Metroid related stuff), but I find that game to be basically unplayable ahah.

I first played it on PC around 1996, amazing soundtrack and very eclectic levels.

I really don’t get why it gets how much hate it gets . It’s not perfect let alone any sonic collection is not perfect . This is one of the best sonic collections I’ve played since sonic Jam on Sega Saturn and mega collection on PS2 ( sorry I didn’t own a GameCube growing up ) . Even with the few music changes , I liked it a lot and is one of my favorite collections / games within the last console generation . I gotta say though , the extra content not so much for amy , but the game gear games ?! I’m mean besides triple trouble …. Who really cares I cnt stand the game gear games , should of gave us sonic spinball / 3D blast both the Genesis and Saturn versions over ANY of those game gear games 🤦‍♂️

The criticism it gets is 100% justified. A new character shouldn't be crashing the game and sonic 3's music doesn't need to sound like it came out of Sonic 4. It's sad to see how SEGA treats the franchise and markets it with half-assed memes and terrible development choices. People go and defend it too. Sad

No, it's not overly hated as Mega collection plus is still the superior collection of ports yeah, it's missing CD, but I can live with that honestly, Mega collection doesn't have that many glitches as a whole & it has a better presentation, which was free not to mention none of the Classics have been tampered with not just the music but gameplay as well Origins feels like a cash grab the only cool thing about Origins is playable Amy & knuckles in CD & I forgot about Origins when Sonic Superstars get announced now I'm saving my money for that game as Classic Amy is also playable in that game & it has brand new Zones well worth my money.

I do think it’s over hated. It does have a lot of issues mainly glitches,missing games,and obviously the MJ music being replaced by pretty half assed mixes. But I don’t think this collection is bad. On console,it objectively is the best way to play these games with widescreen and different characters. For PC users,I can see why they would hate this and I do agree Sega getting rid of the steam versions of the classics was stupid on their part but as a console player,I enjoy origins and I do hope Sega can improve the game even if we just get bug fixes here and there.

People need to realize not everyone had the chance to play the classic games. I for one never completed any of them, with this I not only got to complete the games but experience it like it was my first time and I do not regret spending the $40 on it. I have had loads of fun and enjoy playing as each of the characters! People need to get a life and stop thinking everything has to cater to them. If you didn’t want to buy the Plus expansion then don’t but speaking for all people by saying it’s horrible is such bull.

I think no one has time to be invested in "hating" a videogame these days -- much less a compilation. With this said, yeah, thinking this is a bad product with nothing that justifies its value is a pretty legitimate stance.

I played Redux recently, got through dungeon 4 for the first time ever and it's crazy how modern the game feels, especially with a map, all the mini games, potion bottles, dodongos eating bombs, and upgrading your swords/tunic/wand etc, even fast travel with the flute. It's crazy how it holds up

People's expectations were way too high for Sonic Origins to begin with. I already knew going into it that there would be some weird jank with Sonic 3 because they had to remake it from scratch with a limited time crunch. Even the mobile ports of Sonic 1, 2, and CD had some different physics due to being remade in a completely different engine, so none of these games are ever going to be 100% authentic. I'm just happy that we have a neat way to replay these 4 games that aren't ridden with input lag like in the Sega Mega drive collection.

I might have been fine with Amys terrible "slightly modified Sonic" moveset if modders hadnt already put her in Sonic 1-3 with much better and more unique movesets. My personal preference is mods that give her her Advance 1 moveset, but for simplicity sake her Sonic 1 Forever/Sonic 3 AIR/Amy Mania moveset would have been fine.

No. Sonic Mega Collection + still solos in terms of overall content. Accessibility is great but thats always a defense for many half steps Sega always does. Paying for just more retro Sonic with no more value than I've already gotten before is boring af man lol

There's so many problems that are still not fixed that would be so easy to fix, like being able to play with lives in widescreen mode.

Sega did so much work with modders in recent history.. do you know how many custom characters have already been fully made for the classic games? A ton. They are drip feeding us Amy and making it seem like a gift for us when in reality anyone not on PC is just being cucked.. on a side note I really love playing as Amy such a cool addition

Man, I relate to some takes of you a lot. This would be my perfect Classic Sonic collection: I would name it Sonic Genesis (or something along those lines). It would contain all remakes of Sonic 1, CD, 2, 3&K and Chaotix (yeah, CD represents the Sega CD addon, and so do Chaotix with the 32X, it just makes sense) on the Retro Engine. I'd add multiple save files (like Sonic 3&K) to all 5 games. The playable characters would be Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy, with unlockable Metal Sonic, Mighty and Ray for all 4 games (1, CD, 2, 3&K). If I was SEGA and have unlimited amount of money, I would also buy the rights to all original Sonic 3 & Knuckles tracks, we need Ice Cap Zone song again. Also include both GameGear and MasterSystem catalogue playable via emulator. And the same thing for SegaSonic Arcade, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic R and Fighters. I'd also add some IDW comics as unlockables too (like the Museum from Origins), I'd go with the Sonic 30th Anniversary Special and Tails' 30th Anniversary Special. This would be the best and ultimate Classic Sonic collection of all time. Regarding Mania, you could also add it in a 2-in-1 bundle with this game.

In my opinion, Sonic Origins Plus is fine but there are much better retro game collections like PAC-MAN Museum+.

Overly expensive

Origins is very very overhated because most of the issues are either very minor or even just carryovers from the cw versions. And frankly a lot of the content people said the game "needed" at launch was very unrealistic. Adding mighty ray and amy wouldve required 3 games worth of sprites for 3 characters, knuckles chaotix would require a new 32x emulator even a full wide-screen remake, sega sonic would need to be completely remade since that game was made for a trackball etc. Not even mega collection which is considered the golden standard for sonic collections had the effort origins had consideing origins is remade with new features whereas previous rereleases used emulation (barring jam). Does origins gave problems? Absolutely. Some of which i cant defend, but its frustrating seeing discussion about it always being taken in bad faith and making mountains out of molehills. Also, no, mega collection doesn't have more content, as its games dont come with the new features like mirror mode, boss rush, missions, being able to play sonic 1 and 2 with sonic 3 movesets, it's extras were mostly scans of previously public content as opposed to origins which had concept art that was previously never available to the public, and all the games are emulated which means no tails or knuckles in sonic 1

they also locked Knuckles for Sonic CD in DLC instead of adding him for the base game

Yes, it is overly hated. This collection has way more effort put into it than the $60 Mario 3D Allstars crap that people bought like hotcakes. We got a new character, neat extras, fixed problems from the original games (Tails jumping in front of Sonic in special stages, and at least all the games are widescreen and the collection doesn’t have an expiration date to encourage scalping unlike 3D Allstars.

I will admit, Origins Plus does include some cool new content. I love that Amy is finally playable, and I think her sprite work looks AMAZING in here! And also, I am glad my red boi is finally playable in Sonic CD. But I think I was rubbed the wrong way by how they announced it right after I got the Digital Deluxe edition on Switch, because it was on sale for a little over $20. And now half the package in the Expansion pack is pointless due to me already having it. I wish the Plus stuff was either a free update ala Sonic Frontiers, or they gave us the option to buy JUST the new Plus stuff, for people who bought the Digital Deluxe version. Still might get the game physically on PS5 for the art book and reversible cover, due to me loving physical stuff.
