    Karen I found the Tuesday Talk from last week. Google DAR Tuesday Talk UA-cam. Last week’s is the first listed. I’m going to DC later this week for the National Book Festival. I’m trying to fit in a visit to the DAR museum. My daughter and I visited a few years ago & didn’t find them very friendly but maybe the person was having a bad day. At least I can pick up the book you showed. That fabric you bought for the pillow for the monograms is perfect! Yes JBW has many designs with a French flair that would work. For Sept I plan to do Mary Hill. Hopefully I’ll have something to share in October at Hobby House. Happy Stitching.

    You are so kind to share your heart with us. I was choked up listening to your memories of your parents. They must have been wonderful people! Several videos ago, you spoke of eye fatigue from staring at/working on the same quilt or cross stitch for extended periods. With that thought, you lifted a discouragement from me. You didn’t even realize it, did you ?😂 I would often scold myself for not finishing something in a timely manner and feeling the need to work on something else. Now, I just think to myself, “ Karen said my eyes need a rest from this project”! Yay!!! Once you’ve completed your home responsibilities, please consider designing a quilt to coordinate with Sarah Milthorpe. It would be incredible!

    Hello Karen - what an inspiring FlossTube, thank you for sharing so generously with us. Your Mom’s painting is really lovely and you have prompted me to make a plan to start my Hannah Campbell. With this in mind, I can see from your FlossTubes that the colours of the Vikki Clayton silks are just beautiful. I have never stitched with them before - please may I ask, do you have to divide them into strands prior to use, like DMC? I am returning to stitching after a significant number of years and am stunned by the beauty of the designs and materials that are readily available these days…time to experiment 🪡😊

      Hi Karen, I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your nice note! I really enjoy working with the Vikki Clayton silks. There are so many packs available on her website! You are correct, they are 6 stands, like DMC. You can use them in several ways: I have a good friend who puts them on floss tags just like DMC. I keep them on the bobbins and pull off a length to work on. I wind them back on the bobbin so they don’t tangle. Either way is fine, just depends which you prefer. I do like my friend’s idea of the floss tags and may give that a try at some point. Thanks again for your note! 🙂

      @karencombsstudio 3 дні тому

      Hi Vicky, I tend to enjoy working with 100.3 and the Vikki Clayton silks. If you haven’t tried silk before, I would start with a little red sampler and maybe give the 100.3 a try and see if you like it. If you decide to add a second color to the little sampler, you could try the VC silk in the same piece and see what you think. The more I use the VC silks, the more I enjoy them. I have a friend who is only kitting her silk projects with VC silks, she enjoys them that much. Hope that is helpful and thanks so much for your note! 🙂
