    I’ve had the original X100 for years and it’s still a fabulous camera. Fuji has become ridiculous with releasing new versions every year. Only suckers keep shelling out for the “new and improved” versions. The camera does NOT make the photographer. Tired of these click bait empty content vids.

    Hey man, great vid! A little outdated I know, but I wanted to ask what aperture setting you use the most? Are you firmly in the f2.8 and AF mode? Do you typically change the f-stop but maintain the AF mode or do you change both the f-stop AND focus distance. The shots from this trip look great, so just wanted to know exactly what settings you relied on the most. Thanks!

    • @zach.sorensen
      @zach.sorensen Рік тому

      damn I feel like the focus issue is a common complaint but I personally didn't have a huge amount of my photos come out missing focus. The 35TI has always been a camera I wanted to try out myself, glad you like it!

    • @randallstewart1224
      @randallstewart1224 Рік тому

      With a point-n-shoot camera, focus errors are nearly always a user problem. If the camera auto-focus doesn't focus for one, it won't focus for any. Assuming the auto-focus system is functioning at all, a true focus problem usually results from the focus spot or target in the viewfinder being misaligned with the actual focus point of the system. If so, that is not a particularly difficult repair. When I shopped for my one and only point-n-shoot several decades ago, I couldn't decide from the literature, so I bought a T2 and a 35Ti. After using each for a week and doing full lens resolution tests, I keep the T2 and made $25 profit reselling the Nikon. Reasons: Although the Nikon's lens was a bit sharper, the T2 was more even and consistent across the image. Also, The tiny buttons and dials used on the 35Ti were a pain in the ass in real use. Also, the multi-layer menu system required to access all of its user customizing settings is a nightmare, so IMO no one every uses those functions anyway. T2: controls simple and where you expect to find them. 35Ti: a great mystery box for a camera nerd to play with, but only practical to use in full program mode.

    whats the strap equipped to the camera? can you wear across your body? also, can film simulations be applied to images after taking the photos? or they only appliable when taking the shot?

    • @zach.sorensen
      @zach.sorensen Рік тому

      The strap is from amazon, it was $12 I think. It's called a chord camera strap if I recall. I wear it cross body all the time, it's served me well. I also use a wist loop strap that's made of the same material. If you shown RAW or RAW+JPEG, you can apply the simulations in Lightroom and will still have the overall control of a RAW file which I would highly recommend!

    • @adimg19
      @adimg19 Рік тому

      You can use the application from Fuji for this. It requires connecting the camera to a computer so that the camera's processor can use simulations as if it were doing it at the time of taking the picture. Capture One is also very good with Fuji files.

    Confession time. Until 30 minutes before watching this review I had never heard of a Contax T2, or any other Contax. I got hold of a photography book, Pilgrim, by Richard Gere and found he used the T2 to shoot his pictures in Tibet. Apparently, he still uses the same camera. Great review, and introduction to the T2 for me. Very nice shots too. The camera seems to have a very distinctive image quality about it. Thank you.

They seem to be tanks from my experience but I've also heard some sad stories of the camera dying.

    What a good photo examples!! I'm new to your channel and I wish you grow a lot. I bought the camera for the same reasons than you and it's even better than I expected after watching UA-cam reviews that said things like "it's overhyped", "there are other cheaper options which are the same or better cameras...". I'm glad I didn't listen to youtubers🤣. I've had a couple of "Contax T2 alternatives" and I still have them. They're good cameras on their own but not the same than the Contax T2, no matter how much youtubers cry about it. Overpriced? yes. It costs now almost double the price than when I bought it which is crazy. Since 2019 or 2020 a lot of cameras became overpriced. The Minolta TC-1 can be more expensive than the Contax T2, at least here in Japan, specially the TC-1 black version, that costs like a Contax T3.

    • @zach.sorensen
      @zach.sorensen 2 роки тому

      Thanks so much Tengu! I must agree, the camera gets so much hate for its price, but the image quality and user interface of it is simply unmatched. The alternatives simply can't compare and I think you'd only come to that conclusion by owning both. Glad you liked the video and had a similar experience with yours! Cheers!

  • @randallstewart175
    @randallstewart175 2 роки тому

    This is a very fair and balanced discussion of the T2, not afflicted by the masses of YT hype like so many others. To clarify two point mentioned: (1) On program exposure (set lens to 2.8), the program always selects the 2.8 aperture where the range of light and shutter speed will allow. It only goes to smaller f-stops when the lighting is too bright to allow use of 2.8. This is a compromise to accommodate unknowledgeable users, but it biases the exposure toward the poorest f-stop settings. The manual has a table showing exactly how this works. (2) The auto focus can be overridden to manually set focus distance as noted. The infinity setting on manual is the ONLY way to get a true infinity focus. In AF, the camera connects the f-stop lens setting to the AF, which then sets focus based on "depth of field", in which situation a measured infinity will be set at the long end of that depth of field range. This gives an acceptable, but less than perfect, focus on infinity.

    • @zach.sorensen
      @zach.sorensen 2 роки тому

      Thanks for this info! I had no idea that the infinity setting was the ONLY way to get focus at infinity, I though it was just a guaranteed backup type of setting for those certain scenarios. Im sure many more viewers will find value in the info you provided. Thanks!
