Bachmann Dash 9 Railpro installation
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
This is a quick installation video of Railpro in the new Bachmann Dash 9. No need to remove the entire shell or figure out which wire is for each specific function. The details are in the manual. This is the easiest Railpro installation I’ve ever done.

Railpro is great! Their LM-3S-G modules are easy to use / install. Their customer service is outstanding (in my opinion). Railpro makes setting up and operating consists easy without the need to manually change your locomotives’ speed (speed matching). In my experience, using locomotives from the same manufacture works better. In the video, all of the locos are USA Trains. I tried an LGB in the...
New USAT GP38-2 (Patriotic) first run
Переглядів 1073 роки тому
The new USAT GP38-2 comes with LED lighting (at least the Patriotic paint scheme did). I ended up switching them all out because I couldn’t figure out how to wire the existing lights to the RailPro locomotive module. The new GP38 lights are connected with a 3 wire system attached to the circuit board (above and beyond my pay-grade to figure that one out). Everything else on them is the same as ...

Mixed freight with USAT SD70 and GP38-2 (Railpro installed). Special thanks to Cam Pac for the SD70 couplers boxes. No more derailments on the curves now! The lights on the locos were changed to LEDs.

The SD70 and GP38-2 are running with RailPro. It’s a great system and I wished I’d learned more about prior to purchasing my NCE system. The locos run great even on dirty tracks (for those of you using power over batteries)

that bridge looking excellent, and the background in frame is superb great job 👍👍👍
Hey man I’m planning on doing the same thing. Any way you can email me a picture of what wires went to what from the harness to the board?
I can try it tomorrow when I get in. what's a good email address?
Battery should be standard on G scale trains now since track on the outside has so many issues when it comes to cleaning.
How long does the battery last? I assume it takes about 30 - 60 minutes to charge.
I can’t give you a definitive answer, but I’ve been able to run my locomotives for over 3 hours on 1 charge (pulling 30-40 cars)
@@fearlessmtb o that's plenty of charge! I think I'm definitely making the switch to batteries.
I know this is unrelated to the topic, but what do you do with the rails when it rains?
I use stainless steel track from Sunset Valley Railroad. They stay outside all year (rain, snow, wind, heat) with no problems
What happens to the tracks when it rains?
The tracks can stay outside all year. If you use track power and have brass tracks, you’ll need to clean them more frequently. I use stainless steel track from Sunset Valley Railroad. They hold up very well in wet climates.
Hi guys!!! What are you doing today? Do you like a car or truck?

Thank you so much Boyd! Just what I want to do too and excellent video and tips . Much appreciated. Happy Railroading. Esp liked know what battery and where to get it as well.
Glad I could help!
@@fearlessmtb Thank you again. I went o RLD hobbies, they have a flat [HJE 5S2PF] and a non-flat battery [HJE 5S2P(5+5)] is it the flat one that you used? thanks so much again and happy railroading!
The one I used was the (5+5) variation
That is the biggest Bachman I’ve ever seen (is that g?)
@@V.E.X.I.F.Y it sure is. 1:29 scale
What gauge?
G scale
Thanks! Your video was very helpful!!
Thank you..can you tell if making it battery railpro will be difficult? Also are worried about overheating the railpro in the tight confines of the unit? Just curious. Thank you for doing it
Battery power should be fairly simple. There’s a battery “plug” on the Bachmann circuit board (the manual shows exactly where it is). I would put the batteries in the fuel tank of the Dash 9 and add a charging port to the switch board. I plan on converting 1 to battery next month. I’ll film it. The space for the Railpro module is pretty “airy”. I’ve run both Dash 9’s for 4+ hours straight without any problems or overheating
Thank you so much. I look forward to the video. I just ordered mine but I'm dead rail so I do hope that it is easy. keep up the nice videos and good luck with the unit. I can't wait for the GP-40 and hopefully more.
If you run outside you will probably be faced with overheating issues unless you install a finned heat sink. Be absolutely sure to install with the metal facing upwards.
@@beelinerailroad Thank you so much. I watched is next video and I've reached out to Oley Valley Railcar they have a cool mount with a fan for rail pro units that I am hoping will fit to help with the cooling I will be running only outside in southern california.
Idk why they don’t just put terminals on both sides
I could see that happening if USA trains, LGB, and Piko update their circuit boards to accommodate plug n play devices. Ring Engineering used to ask for suggestions. If enough people ask for it, it could happen
@@fearlessmtb USA needs to update there board for sure.

Did you do the railpro installation yourself?
I did. It’s pretty easy once you see one done. Check out videos by johnathan the fish guy on Railpro installation
@@fearlessmtb for the first couple, i think I’m going have it done. Just trying to find an installer out west.
@@jmiller3v I ran into that problem. I couldn’t find anyone in or near LA to do an install. I ended up buying a locomotive from RLD hobbies with Railpro installed. Took it apart and put one in myself by following the wiring done at RLDs. I don’t consider myself an expert, but I’ve done 17 so far (15 USA trains and 2 LGBs) let me know if I can help in anyway
@@fearlessmtb keep me posted if you hold any open houses, love to see your RR
@@jmiller3v will do. We’re moving to Washington in a few weeks. I belong to club there: Rose City Garden Railroad Society. We do open houses for Father’s Day every year
I watched your videos, nice work.
Was that helicopter rc
No, its a model that a close friend built. He added battery powered LEDs and a motor to the main rotor.
Great video. Really enjoyed it
