Best versatile motorcycle - honest owner review
Hello. Liked and subscribed. I too have had several of these in all the configurations you mentioned. All great bikes. I'm looking at a new 2024 model now in the base version and it comes with the 21" front wheel. Regarding that: why did you go 21" front wheel if you are keeping your new bike as mostly a street bike? Don't you find limitations on the 21" for street riding such as perhaps tire life, tire choice, handling, etc? Just curious because I am thinking too about keeping my new one if I get it as a street and gravel bike and can't see needing a 21. My only reason for getting a 21" version would be I don't care for the Adventure Sports version with the 19" front. I had an AS and it was big and heavy and DCT. They are pushing the AS version with DCT here in the states. Also the AS version is almost 5k more expensive here.
you helped me alot sir thanks for this video.
What is the Best muffler for hp for the DR650 ?
Hi is there a difference between the exhaust on a Suzuki dr 650 and a Suzuki xf 650? I have a gsxr exhaust...
Do they both go 600 kms per tank of gas?
one of best crisp , to the point comparison ! experience matters.. kudos
Very helpful, thanks. I have the S40 Savage. The engine is mostly the same but I don't have the spy hole on the casing you have. But I know the mark is on the 17mm nut bushing itself. Now if I could just snap my fingers and have my tank off and valve inspection covers removed.
❤ 2019 > 2020
FWIW in July 2023 stock system is approximately $1775 AUD / $1187 US
I like your T-shirt. The Hitman rocks.
Thanks cobba for your review
Best comparison so far. Now the question of all questions Standart or Aventure ? For a 60kg, 175cm Guy i consider the 2020 Standart since the Adventure is more heavy but comes with better wind/weather protection
Good stuff.
Thank you for your information & your opinion.
So you weigh 71kgs. I weigh 95, 110kgs with all my gear on. 3kgs makes no difference. People worry too much about the DR exhaust. Better to focus on suspension. Good informative video - thanks.
Great review on both bikes comparison. Thank you for sharing
I will go for the atas 2019. Im 2.00 cm long that bike is higher right ?
Good motorcycles. Give me one of yours
people told me that im too old to ride in bike again , maybe i can if this guy stills ride but im 55
Cool bike
I like your videos, keep it up
You did a great job. Thank you very much. Greetings from Poland

John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Terry. 1.2.chapter 3....on your bike son!
Thanks heaps love them both
The newer the better.
I own the 2017 AT and the 2021 ATAS. Love them both. Both DCT. I am configuring my ‘17 with an off-road bias with aftermarket exhaust, front fender and crash bars. Going with Motoz Tractionators. Nice review!
Great comparison👌
nice video am looking for adv 18 your clips very helpful to me
Great to hear u explain how you compare both motorcycles 👌 thanks
Thanks for your review based on your experience with both bikes! Good info!
very helpful. thanks!!
wonderful review! thanks alot. One question please, how does it feel in town ? especially in traffic, I have heard that it feels very heavy and its difficult to manouver it. I am talking about the new model that i am thinking of buying.
✌🏼
Well done, cheers!
Amazing collection
Some additonal info: The Staintune is now approx $1200+ AUD. There is a guy in NZ who is modifying the OEM exhaust by removing some internal weight and drilling some additonal flow holes then re-welding a 30mm outlet pipe into it. The welding is done by a pro-welder and not the guy who does the mod. Weight saving is approx 1kg. Cost is $225 NZD. Changing the OEM header pipe actually reduces the amount of torque the engine develops so the best option is to just use a slip on muffler.
I have the AT 1000 AS 2018 and I came in dirty roads with river crossings. I tried the AT 1100 and I think it's more BMW GS oriented, less off road orientated than my one. I will not change the 2018 Adventure Sports for other ATs...
What do you mean?
@@adammfharris I said that, based on my experience, the AT AS 2018 is more off-road oriented compared with the 1100 series.
Thank you for sharing your experience i am looking towards switching to an Africa Twin
It's joy watching and listening to you. Please keep em coming. That DR 400 i think is possibly the finest looking machine ever. Cheers.
Greetings from California thanks for the recap. I’m riding a 2017 Africa twin, but looking at 2020-2022 used AT’s for cruise control.
Exactly
Great vid thanks mate , i ve had a staintune for about 10 years , no probs apart from a lil rattle with the db plug
The staintune will last a lifetime and doesn't need repacking. It sounds a lot louder without the dB killer installed. Yours sounds very rattly. Is the dB killer tighted correctly?
I'm in Australia, I have a Barrett, on mine it sounds a bit like your FMF. They cost $500 AUD
Aussie Farmer Yes, the FMF is good but loud, in fact looking at quieting mine down a bit. I don't mind it but I don't want to piss people off nor draw attention from the cops. I see you can get an insert from FMF to make it quieter but in the video I saw it didn't seem to make much difference. We'll see.....
Excellent review my friend. The more you ride on both models or the heavy one, better the balance you will get in no time. And expose once in a while to some easy off road, will sharpen your handling skills.
Thanks for the comparison. Been researching like crazy on thses bikes and pretty sold on the ATAS. Being 6'2 i think it would suite me better, not really worried too much about the weight of it.
Awesome video, thanks for the information of 2019 model
Nice video. I have an RS and like it a lot. If you get bar risers and the Sport seat, it’s far more “upright”. I also have a CCM 600cc FT Stealth - sort of a “road-ised” MX bike, but not a Super Moto. They’re only a UK bike (made in UK). I’ve ridden the DR-Z extensively off-road and found it heavy and always wanting to go in a straight line. My fav Enduro bike was a Husky 450. Good Luck with the Channel from the UK !!
Well said, thanks
