    It taking that extra time to build pressure is extra time of oil not getting where it needs to go. Go watch the oil geek on UA-cam. There’s a test on this. Don’t listen to this guy

      Slightly push up on the cover with your finger at the same time as you’re loosening it with the 10mm…that should work

    Why is this always such a big issue? I don’t understand, if you want to fill it allow the motor to crank without firing. That will start the cycling process. If you really think it’s going to cause a problem, but just to let everyone know that that’s the way oil is sucked up from the stump, the amount of oil that’s left in your jacket, at no point is your motor ever being starved a foil. Now, if you do a 100% tear down and send off to the machine shop. You can fill it with oil from the top let it go down into the jackets, crank it with either an impact or by hand. But even at that, if you build your motor right, you’re going to put oil inside the jackets and piston on your way out. So I don’t understand in 2025 why this is still even a conversation

    didn't realize.... you are suppose to use a 10mm screw on that Black Cap for the bracket. I just see other guides avoid that part and just unscrew the longer rod on the other side.

    Absurd how complicated and non-intuitive the 2022 HR-V is. It’s very clear it was designed by people who couldn’t step back and think like the purchaser. The manual is about the worst written manual I’ve ever seen ini used to drive VWs. It’s clear the people who designed it like playing with buttons and assume the rest of us like it too. A simple reset button is all that is needed. Not toggling between screens and up and down.

    Just did a woman’s oil change- First, car was low on oil, over 1 quart low and had a real dirty, thick consistency- owners fault for doing the oil change after almost one year. Second, the mechanic who did that oil change put a smaller diameter oil filter- filter had oil all over the outside. Almost damaged this woman’s engine, that’s why oil level was low over 1 qt. Third, he charged her $145.00 for 5 quart oil change with a bootleg made in China crappy filter! Fourth, the engine air filter looked like it hadn’t been changed in over 5 years. Disgustingly filthy and overloaded with dirt debris leaves feathers… holy cow! Car engine was deprived of clean air. Folks, stay on top of basic car maintenance. Write it down and leave in glove compartment or make a note on your cellphone.

    had my civic since i bought it new at end of 2017, tested it recently and it showed good/charge, i could've pushed my luck but i'm going on a 3000 mile roundtrip soon and don't want to deal with it if it fails in who knows where. i'm amazed the battery lasted 8 years, so i bought a new one at costco and followed your step by step and it worked perfectly , lights cleared as soon as i drove down the street slowly. didn't even need to get up to 20-30 mph. thanks sir. p.s. any idea if changing the battery affects a tune with k-tuner or flashpro on the ecu?

    Sick and tired of all these petrol or diesel engines.They suck big in all ways.There are too many parts put together like sandwhich and only tiny gaskets washers keeps them leak free.But all engines get freaking hot and vibrations pressure causing them to leak.For me the cyl head design stil a wtf the engineers failure.Oil and water only separate with one tiny gasket.Time to end this wortless engines and drive ev or other new gen engines.

    Eh, what is the big deal about the extra 5 seconds it takes to prefill the oil filter? Just do it. One or two seconds waiting for the oil filter fill, equates to about 20 ish revolutions of the engine.... just fill the oil filter.

    •  27 днів тому

      After 20 or so oil changes, that's a lot of timre running with NO oil pressure.

    • @berserkerusmc7613
      @berserkerusmc7613 26 днів тому

      Yep. That's the point I was trying to make. I don't get why this guy would even bother making a video about this subject. It takes seconds to pre fill an oil filter. Just do it.

    • @rbfclaboratoryandstudio
      @rbfclaboratoryandstudio 20 днів тому

      @@berserkerusmc7613I really agree with pre filling and the virtues of doing it, but I think it should also be recognized that sideways filter installs makes pre filling a frustrating and irritating experience to the point of wanting to skip it. A lot of evidence exists for people who never pre fill and still have great long term success with their engines, and with the use of new oils on modern engines, maybe the difference pre-filling makes in reducing wear is negligible, especially on engines using smaller sized filters. They might also argue as to why the manufacturer would design the oil filter sideways in the first place if it was so critical to fill and why this point isn’t stressed in the owners manual. Regardless though, sideways or not, I still choose to pre-fill the filters in my cars and doing so is perhaps one of the main advantages of doing oil changes yourself instead of having someone else do them; knowing it’s done right and having that extra piece of mind.

    • @berserkerusmc7613
      @berserkerusmc7613 19 днів тому

      @rbfclaboratoryandstudio I agree. I suppose my main opinion is that it's a simple thing to do. Now, sideway filters are virtually impossible to do. As to. Why certain engines have those are most likely to do with how the block is designed. Like inline 6 cylinders , where it is really the only place that assembly will fit.
