In January of 2024 I took my vehicle to Wal-Mart for an oil change, a few minutes later my hood flew up and smashed through my windshield while driving at 70 mph on the interstate. This was a result of the technician failing to secure the hood properly. This incident resulted in $5k of damages, the damages were covered by Wal-Mart and they got me back on the road relatively quickly.
Although this was a serious mistake, I feel that it was an honest mistake that could have resulted in disastrous consequences. I hold no ill-will towards the technician or Wal-Mart, but I will be checking my hood every time it is worked on by anyone.
