    Thay muzzle is way too small to be exercising in. Not nearly enough pant room.

      May I ask what your comment is based on please? I demonstrate a happy free dog who can pant sufficiently for the moderate exercise he was undertaking.

    Very useful thank you! The tip about playing/teasing them after the delivery is no doubt one of the missing pieces for me. It’s so easy to accidentally remove the fun in search of more control when you’re in experienced! I loved the outtake at the end too 😊

    Brilliant! I especially like the dogs-eye-views too. Is that a GoPro strapped to a harness?

    Gorgeous Large Munsterlanders! And what a wonderful park to walk in. It is very reassuring to see what you have achieved with your boys. The problem I am having with my 1 year old LM is narrowing his choices off lead. Every time his preference is to hunt, which is understandable being a HPR, but it is making it very hard to give him the freedom he needs as you say in the video. Unfortunately, for his safety I have to have him on a longline whenever we are out at the moment as his choice is not always to return to me despite months of recall training in varying scenarios and types of rewards. How do you go about ensuring they make the right choice when they are off lead? Obviously these 2 are older and well trained already. But for younger less experienced and even faster dogs for example?

      @gooddoggietraining Місяць тому

      Thank you for your kind comments. Yes they are older dogs but they have done this from being puppies- that is the way I have brought them up. How much choice do you give your LM as part of his normal day? Access to all the house? Allowed on furniture as he likes? Petted when he comes up to you, just coz he’s gorgeous? If you do any of these or similar your reaffirming to your dog that he can choose what he does. If he has benevolent leadership for everything, then they get into the habit of doing what you ask even when you’re out and they are off lead. Have you looked at my video ‘ in the dog house’? Might help?

      @@gooddoggietraining thank you for the advice! I’ll work my way through your other videos. Unfortunately he is very handsome so we have probably given him more choice than we should have. I’ll start building more structure for him at home on top of the training. On a similar note, I am finding him to be a bit reluctant to retrieve. Do you have any advice for how to build drive to retrieve?

      @@davidtemple4962 fabulous. You will find it takes some time for him to accept your new leadership but stuck with it and you’ll see the benefit. Some dogs are more determined to do their own thing, so don’t be disheartened if you see other munsters doing better than you. Stick to your guns and you’ll succeed. Maybe I could do a little video to give some ideas of how to get your dog more interested in retrieving?

      Thank you! It does take a lot of time and effort, yes. Getting your dog to stand still and trot round is relatively easy. It is all the small details that make a champion, which is what takes the time, effort and skill.

    Congratulations can you tell me how much grooming before shows and in general this breed needs? I show German Shorthaired Pointers and there is no Large Munsterlanders in my state however love the look of the breed, however I am used to a wash and wear dog so not sure I would have a long amount of time to prep a longer coated breed.

    • @gooddoggietraining
      @gooddoggietraining 10 місяців тому

      Hi. Really glad you enjoyed the video. A full groom once a week is needed. Beyond that it just depends what you do with them. So if they are running through undergrowth you will find seed heads and burrs get caught in their coat, so you would need to get this out when you get home. As long as you do that, their coats don’t get matted and Munsters seem to be good at looking after their own coat too!
