Daijishō - An Emulation Frontend With Limitless Potential
Emulation Frontends are constantly innovating with new ideas and ways to make your library feel more active and easy to navigate.
By some miracle, I managed to convince the dev to integrate RetroAchievements and we've locked in on the project ever since. I've been working close with Daijishō to create what could be the best frontend experience on Android, and it's been months since this video began production. Consider it a way to point the dev in a unique direction; showing off what some new features could potentially look and feel like and how it could improve the overall experience.
There's some easter eggs here too, see if you can spot some of them...
And of course I'm happy to say I did my best to check for mistakes before rendering this time. 1 frame of the video was out of sync with the fluidity but I rather have 1 bad frame than 100.
PLEASE tell me what you guys think, and be sure to share your own ideas with the dev too! Thank you guys for always being patient with my content, I hope it was worth the wait :)

What are RetroAchievements?
Переглядів 65 тис.2 роки тому
Updates: DreamCast, PS2 and GameCube gained achievement support since this video's release! More dedicated emulators have also brought RetroAchievements outside the constraints of RetroArch: These include GameCube with Dolphin, PSP with PPSSPP, PS2 with PCSX2 and Aethersx2, PS1 with DuckStation, DS with MelonDS, and GBA with PizzaBoy GBA. Dolphin support only paves the way for Wii as well. More...
10 More Japanese PSP Games (Part 2)
Переглядів 37 тис.3 роки тому
Sorry about the wait! I guess I wasn't investing too much time into my favorite hobby, but things have gotten easier since my last upload, so who knows? Maybe this means more frequent videos? Only time will tell. Something tells me you guys have been waiting for a part 2 to my original list for Japanese PSP games, and I read all of your comments. Honestly, it made me happy to read them all, to ...
Ideal Way To Emulate - Nintendo 3DS
Переглядів 3,9 тис.4 роки тому
Hey everyone! This is a new series I'm trying out called "Ideal Way To Emulate" There's plenty of consoles and handhelds that aren't very straightforward when you just want to play them and feel immersed, so this is just to help others find ways to achieve that goal. I chose the 3DS since it's fairly recent and probably the most complicated to play comfortably. Hope you enjoy this new format, l...
Top 10 PSP Japanese Games (Part 1)
Переглядів 78 тис.5 років тому
Welcome to my new channel where I focus primarily on fun nostalgic video games. I've always wanted to give this a try for years now, and I'm glad I finally put time aside for it. My favorite handheld of all time is the PSP, and it houses my favorite memories growing up during my teen years; it was a no-brainer honestly. There will be plenty more videos coming to the channel since I play/record ...
Yeah definitely not worth the trouble. All of these achievements are made up.
Super informative and brilliantly edited, thanks so much
Dang that music when sol trigger pops up is so nostalgic. Any chance anyone knows the ost or theme? @8:32?
does anyone know what the theme for retroarch xmb at 6:53 to 7:10 is called?
I love retroachevements it makes me 100% games that i would not do it because of the mastery/platnium ex: i would not have 100% lego star wars the video game for the ps2 if i wasnt because of retroachevements
Hi. I come from the future... I would like to inform you that none of the ideas have been implemented. Thanks for the attention.
yo ur videos are so well done! :D
Only problem I have is that I despite retroarch and prefer standalone emulators
a lot of RA platforms are on standalone emulators nowadays. Dolphin, Melonds, PPSSPP, DuckStation and Nethersx2 support acheivements
bootyOs
i do like the whole idea, but I don't think the chosen words for old games was good
Is there a english patch for Black Rock Shooter?
It is an incredibly looking frontend. I just wish I could use it on my Windows devices or Steamdeck.
I'd really enjoy the 3Ds achievements if it was compatible with a real 3Ds. After all lots of people DO still ACTUALLY play on REAL 3Ds hardware and they have perfectly fine internet connectivity. With bringing miiverse and streetpass back, this achievement system would really help to make the console feel more alive again ...if it can be done. Even the DreamCast and GameCube have internet support but those might not be as feasible...
I think achievements on real gamecube hardware would be more viable since the flippydrive mod adds in wireless internet
Sorry there’s a lot of negativity in the comments because this seems like a neat little database project. Looks like a lot of them are upset that this is framed as a gateway to retro games, but I’m not sure that’s how this feature should be interpreted. As they’ve pointed out, the barrier to entry for retro games isn’t the lack of available achievements, but this could be a nice way for completionists to track their progress. Or potentially a score keeping system for some kind of “gaming race” where two people compete for the fastest completion time? 🤷♂️ Idk… it’s not an inherently bad idea and I think retro enthusiasts could get creative with the custom achievement possibilities. The editing/voiceover for this vid is awesome btw
I’m sorry but saying there is no reason to go back to old games other than nostalgia is a god awful take. Absolutely disrespectful to older games and the people who made them.
Just kind of seems like its diluting the experience of all of these games
Huh
I play games from the past because they were literally more fun
i'm not sure why i thought this would be easy to set up
It is though
@@cartoonvideos5 idk how
@robowolfYT Go to the website, make an account, download the recommended emulators, then sign into Retro Achievements with whatever recommended emulator you are using.
7:50 How do you display achievements like that? Couldn't find anything like that =(
While the concept of retroachievements is great, I think this video is a bit condescending.
Hope you aren't too big a deal to talk to a tiny little sub-1000 guy like me, but I really really want to know more about this. It looks incredibly cool and organised. Is it an Android app? I see Blue Archive in there. Do you play? Does Daijishō have special features for Blue Archive? Finally, which Student is the best and why is it Haruka?
You’re cultured for playing DOA Xtreme 2
What’s the emulator that you’re using? It looks like a legit authentic retro console that’s running all type of games in a much modern way
i've always loved the concept of RetroAchievements, but i can't deal with RetroArch. the ui is just too claustrophobic & there's so many options i get lost trying to do something like change my controls. hoping more independent emulators pick this system up soon
What Game is this at 3:05 before Animal Crossing comes?
I believe that's Boku no Natsuyasumi for the ps1.
zesty
TRASU!
great video but the entire first section feels like an infomercial
still the most gorgeous video on UA-cam. sounds and sights are way too good
While this video is what got me into Retroachievements and I do think it‘s well made, your take that going back to older Games isn‘t worth it because they‘re visually less interesting etc. is a really bad take, honestly. There‘s a lot of great Games from older console generations. Just take a look at the Super Nintendo (for example) and how many great Games there are on it that hold up even today (Super Metroid, Earthbound, all the Mario Games, Donkey Kong Country, the Final Fantasy‘s…) There are definitely a lot of Games that have aged but for that we often have mods and ROM Hacks that fix some of the rougher edges and make these Games basically perfect (now if only the big companies would care to bring back their older libraries…)
3:04 whats this PS1 game
That's Boku no Natsuyasumi, a slice of life game where you're a kid just spending summer vacation.
Can anyone tell me the name of the game on screen at 8:26? I love discovering PSX-esque games with the 3D graphics and 2D backgrounds
I seems like a Japan exclusive so looking for it might be hard
That's Boku No Natsuyasumi. The second game in the series has an English fan translation patch, but the first entry (seen here) doesn't have one as of the time of writing this reply.
Amazing editing, but your reasoning as to why retro gaming is "pointless" and "hollow" is honestly shocking Video games are *entertainment* first, they were never intended to give you anything other than enjoyment during your past time Not that I dislike achievements, I like them for many of the same reasons as you But I don't think video games are worthless without them, far from it If retro video games were hollow nothingness, then why would emulators exist for so far longer than how long RA has been around? I personally don't use RA and get a lot of enjoyment out of my real hardware consoles, I don't mind the graphics at all, and in a lot of ways the games, even though their graphics are "old" and "outdated", are tons better than modern games (at least in my opinion, don't let me stop you from enjoying new releases); in fact, I love a lot of older artstyles, including the 6th generation which was a beautiful blend of realism and cartoon Anyways, that's just my two cents, great video otherwise
i was hesistent for a longer time about this but it's surprisingly fun and encourages you to play a game more thoroughly
I like the sound of RetroAchievments, but I prefer standalone emulators to RetroArch. Oh well.
it's not exclusive to retroarch. a lot of standalone emulators have retroachievements
What are RetroAchievements? Obese people that live with their parents use them.
No download link in the description?
Damn it's like a PS3
I absolutely adore how much you showed earthbound in this video
How does this system handle cheats though?
you can use cheats but you will be locked to softcore mode. hardcore mode is disabled when using cheats. hardcore mode will give you a golden border around your unlocked achievements and they have separate leaderboards
WHY HAVE I NOT HEARD OF THIS?????
1:34 hey look Franzea Anyways, LocoRoco Midnight Carnival may have an underwhelming platinum, but its RetroAchivements 100% is way, way, worse... 8:20 hey look LocoRoco Midnight Carnival
One issue is it requires piracy
How is that an issue? That's convenience.
that's a pro, not a con
dumping ROMs isn’t piracy, it’s distributing and downloading ones you don’t own that’s piracy. this does not require piracy.
@@abraham3673 Who cares about piracy? Do you lick boots??
@@abraham3673 Who cares?
Gravity Rush Kat mentioned!
I have a question. Who the fuck actually cares about getting a trophy for a super nintendo game besides people who cannot function without all the unnecessary crap that comes packed into a modern console
An entire community, apparently.
many people! clearly!
Great video, love the overall anesthetic. Where can i get a retroarch theme like that
using Earthbound for this was eh
I literally would do this as a kid, make a note pad file and be like these are achievements 😂 you did it bro
