A cassette of several demos from that time was recently rediscovered and digitised, which we're now sharing. A track recorded c.1987 by The Enigma: Graham Bailey (all instruments) and Adrian Janes (vocals, lyrics) . A cassette of several demos from that time was recently rediscovered and digitised, which we're now sharing. The story was incredible But the source was reliable Then I read it contradicted Though it never was retracted. I looked into a leader’s face Beaming all the way into my place; Seen...

A cassette of several demos from that time was recently rediscovered and digitized, which we're now sharing. OUT OF MY MIND In my mind’s eye I can see The house, the room, the bed; But you took back the key Left them locked inside my head. Memory constantly Unwinds and rewinds The scenes a...

A song about repressed emotions. A track recorded c.1987 by The Enigma: Graham Bailey (all instruments) and Adrian Janes (vocals, lyrics) . A cassette of several demos from that time was recently rediscovered and digitised, which we're now sharing. Boiling Up Inside My head is full of bad dreams: They film my eyes like clouds of steam. Stock vs Borla on Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 1320
Weekdays 10-midnight, me and my transistor and John Peel. The sound of my teenagerdom, and a lifelong influence on my musical taste. Thanks John.
The person with the biggest influence on British popular music culture over the last 50 years, and he's not been about for 20 of them. So many happy memories listening to these shows, thanks for posting
Lyrics please
Thanks for sharing. My friend in Silver Grove shared a few photos when she was traveling south through Asheville. Devastation and resilience.
I'm just read the book about adrian ( destiny stopped screaming - life and times of adrian borland ) knew alot about the sound and him but was really surprised that he had a son in germany, born in 1982.
❤
What a loss. Life would never be the same after his death.
Like a Gregory Isaac’s bass lines - starts a stops - in form the melody.
What a gr8 concert thank you so very much indeed.
Got a 120 Pure Ferro and a timer, stolen from my mothers garden lights for late night schow...both worked perfectly...while i was in the city with friends...everytime great fun to hear the show next day 1:13:42
christmas time was great being a teen in the late 70's and early 80's, down purely to Peel's festive 50. it is a shame there aren't a lot more surviving festive 50 shows.
Peel knew we were all taping, he would say, 'pause tape' after a popular tune. I disposed of twenty years worth of John Peel Show tapes back in 2006, not knowing that I could have transferred onto my computer, so thank you for UA-cam.
Yup! Similar time to when I threw out all my vhs tapes, same reason. Some Monty python sketches gone for good
Please upload more of this!
Beautiful. Awesome transfer!
Loved when he played reggae music. Burning Spear ect....
Growing up in a Jamaican family, born in the UK I absolutely loved listening to John Peel at night while in bed with my transistor radio hidden under my blankets so my parents could not hear. I was not always successful; they would come in and tell me to "Turn that radio off". Thank you, John Peel, for all the memories and the introduction to Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Thank you to the uploader. I really miss living in the UK in the 70's. It was not so bad.
What a great show
In loving memory of my father (rip) who invites me to the fascinating world of John Peels radio show when I was 15 years young...📻🥲❤️
The sound quality amazing, l wonder what tech he used. Though this show is a game of differentiate the yodely guitar band ;-)
BBC didn’t skimp on quality - there’s probably pictures of studio on interweb somewhere. “yodely” LoL - but true
Glad to discover this version of Bunnymen's "Heaven up Here"!!!
Graham, Adrian and...?
Pete williams, and a drummer (Steve? Harper? possibly)
Yes !
Nothing better than having a brand new C90 and doing a "Peelie"!
Same, but my dad's old cast-off Philips reel to reel with a 'magic eye' recording level, and taping Peelie over my sister's expensive and probably rare pre-recorded Bowie tape 🙄
In 1980 I sent a stamped addressed envelope to John Peel and in return I got a paper print out of the festive 50. Technology might have advanced but the mystical magic it conjured up will not be equalled
digging
Peel and Tommy Vance. Only shows worth listening to, and sadly, nothing has replaced them that's any good. Tom Ravenscroft on 6 Music is JPs son, and he does a fair show. Just peed off that both the BBC and Glastonbury have shunned his name over abuse claims that were never substantiated.
Not heard of Tom Ravenscroft. Thanks!
Totally agree with you and 6 music is pretty much the only okish substitute in the years since. Had no idea about any abuse claims though
@@andyhuston8833 there arent any, he's trolling or doesnt know what a pedo is
V high quality recording...made on a good tape deck?
at the time yes Nakamichi - the tape was just average CRO
@@bassaxist Ah Nakamichi....not surprised....great decks....Great sound...can hear very little wow & flutter...knew it must be something good!
The Chameleons , Comsat Angels & The Sound ! Best 80's Bands.
Love Must Be Won !
Thanks Graham!!!
increíble¡¡
This was way ahead of it's time; it's clearly an OAP protest anthem. I'd have liked to have slipped in these lyrics: 'We are the infirm. OAPs on the run. Trouble everywhere we go. Being a Hell's granny is fun".... Any good, Graham, you Hell's granny, you?
I remember the hells grannies like it was yesterday absolutely classic MP!
Now the OAP's are on stage - bizarre!
Bo a la Iggy Pop! Incredible guitar solo. Bo was something else. This is pure classic punk! Well done Bo et al. That drumming sure sounds like Jan, Graham.
Bunnymen were clearly still working out Heaven Up Here song there
A time when you will be with me.....
Is this Adrian singing?
Yes - when we were young!
Thanks for sharing! That's a verry young me as the interviewer. One of my first on the journalism path. 21 years old I was. Now i'm 62... time flies! Were did you dig this up, Graham? How did my micro cassette-tape ended up on UA-cam?
Well how about that! Join the 60+ club, actually amazed I made it. So I have no idea how I got it, I have been going thru old files on my laptop and came across this amongst others. Could have been from many years ago as I transferred data from old to new several times. It's a .wav file which is odd. I guess someone sent it me
Many Thanks for this upload, one of the very best imo.
Awesome
It's breathtaking to listen to you young people. I really like Max's synth.Closing their eyes gives them goosebumps.
Mr. Graham. thank you very much! we love and appreciate you!!after so many years, your music helps thousands of people all over the world.❤
No !
Amazing! Thanks a lot for sharing, Graham! 🙏🖤🖤🖤
merci, beaucoup white wulf
Wow! Didn't know this live. How much power, how much energy, how much artistic awareness! 🖤 I think that the first three songs were already a sign of what would be Adrian's solo musical evolution, that would generate the Alexandria album. Thanks a lot for sharing, Graham! 🙏🖤 You all were great! 🖤🖤🖤
fantastic! thank you!
Thanks Graham. Fantastic sound and performance, the whole band are on fire. Iron Years is superior to the studio recording in my opinion, the guitar solo on I Give You Pain is superb. Thunder Up live was impressive! Setlist: Iron Years, Hand Of Love, Where The Love Is, I Give You Pain , Sense Of Purpose, Prove Me Wrong, Total Recall
OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS!!!! -Casey Strain
Thank you! ❤️🤟
Love love love!!! I adore!!! 🖤🖤🖤
