Ian Paice is without question one of the top drummers of all time. He has never been given the accolades that others have, like Bonham, Ginger Baker, etc. but he is right up there with the best of them.
I read an interview with Paice and he said he learned this technique from Mike Mangini when they did clinics together. Ian Paice has the coolest chops I've ever heard. He's definitely one of my biggest influences!
@Hamring thats a good way to put it. I think that when people mean he is underrated, they mean that compared to noticeable drummers like bonham, moon, peart and so on, he is like a shadow and he doesnt get enough credit like they do. It's almost the same kind of situation with alex lifeson competing with geddy and peart because they are so well known for their playing that i guess lifeson gets shadowed over them. I hope that paragraph made some sense because in my thought it did xD
@poekoelan75 How can he be underrated? He is huge in the drumming world! Hate people always going "this guy is the most underrated dude ever". Especially to people like Ian here. Don't get me wrong. Ian's great no doubt. But he's not underrated. Same goes for Brian and Don. Of course people should get the credit they deserve. But why not concentrate on promoting any little known drummers you might know of. Friends, or local drummers perhaps.. They're the real underrated ones!
@blaumausfrau its an opened roll like star spangled banner is a closed pressed roll pressed rolls are used often as in rudiments. Some rudiments as double, triple, 5,6,7,9,10 stroke rolls can be opened or closed. This is a swedish gravity blast. If you wana see a one handed roll go look up buddy rich doing it, he actually does a one handed roll, with his traditional grip(the grip used by marching drummers and most older jazz drummers)- Hope i could help
Wild Joey Jordinson appeared Joey Jordinson used blast beats ''Failed to have any effect'' Ian Paice used one handed snare roll ''Joey Jordinson fainted''
I saw Ian with Deep Purple Gosh I guess back in the 80s at the Long Beach Arena. The guy is just a monster. One of the power technical and powerful drummers in the rock arena. No Question.. BUT.. This is NOT really a drum roll. I'm not a drummer but this is just LIGHTENING FAST drumming with one hand; not really a roll is it?
This is not the same as a drum roll. Here you use the rim to get that second stroke. Its also know as gravity blast. Some metaldrummers do this technique to do fast blastbeats
Thank you again, my dear old friend and teacher. You've been an inspiration and influence to so many. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Best of health to you and your family. Cheers, mate.
hes still playing the same stuff he played 5 years ago! I think he should practice more! Playing in a band is good but if your gonna go up and do solos better practice to create new ones!
he is using the rim.
Buddy Rich could he have played in a rock band no. Ian paice has done it all. In my opinion Paice is the goat .
Браво
Buddy Rich signature stroke
Fantastic!
Any questions? Try at home, you'll never get that same punch... Awesome !
Fucking crazy!!!!
I DONT UNDERSTAND
He's making use of the rim, when his hand move's up, you get that second hit on the snare for free.
Yea. Dud who says if you can do a roll you can do this. Ok. Wake up
God must be 144 likes per day. I think I watched it 95 times in the past 3 days alone. Thank you Ian paice
They must have those numbers wrong they say 144 likes of you in cases one had to drum solo well 143 of them are mine
Paice, Peart, Cobham, Palmer, Bonham, Aldrich, sooo many more, are all top rate drummers. Buddy Rich was the best, in my humble.
Fucking awesome bloke. I could listen to his drum breaks on Sail Away for aeons.
Ian Paice is without question one of the top drummers of all time. He has never been given the accolades that others have, like Bonham, Ginger Baker, etc. but he is right up there with the best of them.
he should have had a beer ready in his right hand, he deserved it after that demonstration.

I saw someone on a David Gilmour video once saying he's the most underrated guitarist ever.

ian with one hand goes faster than me with both hands
TRAIN INCOMING!!
@poekoelan75 thats a lot of crap- Ian is very highly regarded among fans and drummers.
@kidzsanlorenzo agree! what is this "underrated" nonsense. Ian is highly regarded among fans and fellow drummers!!
@poekoelan75 Bill ward ?

Are you a moron ??
Ian Paice underrated what the hell are you talking about !?! from who Christina Aguilera fans..
The Super Drummer! iaaan Paice!!
@alucard0712 yes- me too!
Imagine if his parents had bought him a whole set. Markham would love that joke. Paice and DP rule.
Oh Lord.
No, this is Ian Paice. Lord did the keyboards.
he`s brilliant but I would not say underrated. Most rate him very high.
Super snare drum chops! Ian along with Brian Downey and Don Brewer is among the most under rated rock drummers of the 70s.
Gotta love tasty Paicety
haaaay que va !
me too!
This technique is easy - if you can do a drum roll then you can do this. Ian paice is a great drummer - but he is not great at this.
Post a video of yourself doing it properly first.
@@stefvuho78 pudsi probably died trying to do this... 😂😂🤣🤣

@@masvm86metal drummers use drum machines. None of em are as good as Paice
Drumguy and Savarese.........if you add me I guess we are the die hard Ian fans from youtube...happy new year guys !
Thank you again, my dear old friend and teacher. You've been an inspiration and influence to so many. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Best of health to you and your family. Cheers, mate.
this technique is awesome
you think he's bad listen to mike terrana. he has been playing the same drum solo for much longer. degrasso is better than him anyway
Legend.
hes still playing the same stuff he played 5 years ago! I think he should practice more! Playing in a band is good but if your gonna go up and do solos better practice to create new ones!
