I'm on a lifelong quest to find every animal in the UK!
I'm not exactly an animal, photography or video production expert.. YET! But I'm learning as I go and I'm dedicated to bringing you the highest quality animal videos that I'm capable of making.
I really want to grow this channel into something meaningful. My big dream is to buy a nice big chunk of land and then rewild it. So that I can personally create another home for the wild animals that I love so much.
Feel free to subscribe to follow the quest and discover all the awesome wildlife in the UK.

Keep going. It might slow down but we love the ‘found’ animals just as much. A new species will be all the more exciting when you find them. 🦅
This was in reaction to your newest video but this one started to play when I was typing.
Thank you very much 😊 that's to good to hear that you still enjoy seeing the common animals too!
Awesome video! About your target birds, Hoopoe are vagrant birds to the UK, with around 5-10 being seen every year. The last Hoopoe seen in the UK was on the 3rd January 2025 in South Yorkshire at Rossington feeding in the lawns along Maulays Court (53.47177, -1.056920) which has been there since the 7th November 2024. Waxwings are also a vagrant bird to the UK, with some winters being better than others for these birds. This winter has been poor for Waxwings, however last year was an incredible year for them. Long-eared Owls and Cranes can be seen at Eldernell at this time of year. The Long-eared Owls roost in the hedge 200yds west of the RSPB Nene Washes car park (52.57430, -0.06040000) and Cranes can often be found on the reserve as well. Hickling Broad is also a good spot for Cranes especially in the winter as they come into roost at the raptor roost benches (52.73904, 1.608094), RSPB Greylake in early mornings and evenings and WWT Slimbridge. Last year there was a showy male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker drumming in the oaks opposite RSPB Middleton Lakes car park. Arriving there early in the morning at late February/March time is best to see them, but they were still showing and drumming into April. One of the best places to see Osprey in the UK is Lyndon Visitor Centre at Rutland Water, where they can be seen hunting around the reservoir and on the nesting platform. RSPB Loch Garten, RSPB Arne at Foulshaw Moss CWT are also all good sites for Osprey in the summer months where they can be seen on their nesting platforms. The Isle of Mull is probably the best place in the UK for Golden Eagle, where they can be spotted all throughout the island in mountainous habitats. The public footpath running along the River Otter in Devon (50.65958, -3.304511) is one of the best places in the UK to see Beavers. The Isle of Mull is also one of the best places in the UK to see Otters, as they can be found along all of Mull's coastline. If you cruise around the coast in your car, especially in the morning, you have a high chance of finding Otters. For small mammals, you can buy a Longworth Trap online. If you put bait and bedding in the trap, set it, then leave it out camouflaged among the long grass, you will often catch voles, shrews and mice. However, you do need a license to trap and handle shrews, so you can buy traps with tiny holes which shrews can exit from, but voles and mice can't. Natterjack Toads can be seen in Norfolk by standing along the sea wall by Thornham Harbour in the evening and listening out for the toad's song. Most heathlands in Dorset are home to Smooth Snakes, however they are extremely elusive and hard to spot. One site for them down in Dorset is RSPB Arne, however even in the hottest weather they can be really hard to find. Hope all this helps.
10:33 I’ve never seen one of those before. What a little beauty. 👌🏻 I was going to insert a smutty joke here. I’m not proud of myself, but there it is. 🤣🤣🤣
It was my first time seeing one too, they are awesome birds! What was the joke!?!
@ it was „That’s what she said!“ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don't be too hard on Yourself. Those shot's from Brighton were truly Wonderful. You can't win a coconut every time.! One of my best finds for 2024, was your Channel. 😊
I'm glad you liked them 😊 I'm still planning on getting some better footage of them in future! I'd love to film them against a nice sunset Thank you very much mate, glad to have you along for the quest 😁
I liked your top 5 for 2024, looking forward to seeing what's new this year.
Hopefully I'll find an even more impressive top 5 this year!
Poole harbour has an osprey nest site I believe, they will hopefully be there during the summer. Down here in the south west we have no nesting ospreys to my knowledge but get a fair few stopping during autumn migration in September that stay for a few weeks around Exeter, Plymouth and Truro. I’m in Cornwall and some species I know are round here that might be rarer elsewhere include choughs, cirl buntings and corn buntings. Also lots of grey seals here, and this past week some humpback whale sightings
I could check out the Poole Harbour ospreys this year then, thanks for that tip. I also need all those animals you mentioned from Cornwall.. I absolutely love 🌽🧱 so hopefully I'll be back there soon but And I would LOVE to see a whale!
Swans are one of my favourite birds. When we go to a holiday park, there are a few swans. They are so used to humans feeding them that they will get aggressive and demand food. After I fed them a few slices of bread, they would recognise me and start pestering me for more. Animals are smarter than people think!
Yeah I think birds especially are very intelligent, you better go armed with bread from now on then... I'd really like to find a whooper swan or a Bewick's swan
Yes. Sometimes, birds really make you think about how we evolved first, and not them. Especially when you see videos of parrots having conversations with their owners. It can make you feel bad for bird species that have been hunted to extinction, since they are more ‘aware’ then other animals.
Ps. Those swans were chasing us around for bread we didn’t have. Have you ever seen a swan fly? They’re like helicopters mixed with air raid sirens.
Yeah I have, they're not the most subtle fliers 😂
I think my favourite of the small songbirds might be the Wren. The way they flit around the bushes and the little sounds they make are so cute, and they would always cheer me up as a kid when I was waiting for the school bus
They are really nice 😁 they seem inquisitive about people
Iv herd naterjack at hegistbury head neer bormouth, as for cranes there rspb otmoor in Oxfordshire theres are pair that a seen fairly common around there and also they are fairly commonly seen at WWT Slimbridge but I don't know if there are any there right now. Not as common as white tailed eagles but golden eagles are fairly common on the isles of Mull. hope that helps love the series
Ok awesome thanks for those tips! Bournemouth and Oxfordshire are too far from me so that's handy 😃 Thanks for following the series 👍
The only time I've ever seen an Osprey was in Scotland,in the Forth estuary. Even got to see it making it's characteristic dive to grab a fish! I've seen a bunch of white tailed eagles, but all either in Scandinavia or the Netherlands (we got a couple breeding pairs) . Was lucky enough to even see one fly over my home, way up high once.
Wow that sounds amazing I'd love to see that! I've seen white tailed eagles once myself but from a loooong way away at Pulborough Brooks
Beautiful footage. Wishing you well with your ongoing quest.
Thank you very much 😊 hopefully this year will bring some exciting new species
Hoopoe - a migrant like that is tough. I’ve only ever seen one in Cornwall during spring migration. Maybe try rare bird alert or ebird to keep tabs on the latest rare bird sightings. Cranes - defo Otmoor. Breeding there in spring/summer so good chance of seeing them at least fly past. Volunteer wardens on site will be able to give you tips on where best to see them Waxwings - when they come to the uk it is often an influx. Combination of cold weather plus poor berry harvest in Northern Europe causes them to head south. When that happens they turn up in urban parks on the Rowan trees. Dependant on these conditions rather than a specific location. Osprey - Loch Lomond Scotland is where I’ve seen them. But Wikipedia has a good list of UK Osprey projects… with a bit of research you may be able to find a spot closer to home. Golden Eagle - Scotland west coast islands. Ive only ever seen either from a vast distance though. Nest sites are kept secret so it’s hard to find information sadly. Long eared owl - I’ve never seen one sadly. I’d keep an eye on bird spotting websites this time of year in the hope there is a roost nearby. It can apparently mean starring in to dense thickets for hours in the hope of a glimpse! Lesser spotted - hopefully someone can give you a good spot. Google says Shut Heather wood nature reserve in Essex. Apparently March-early April before the leaves come out is best.
Crossbill - Thetford Forest Corn Bunting - “W Sussex at Arundel. Drive up to the Burgh, have a walk around and you can't fail to see them” according to the internet! Twite - east coast winter. Northern Moors around Lancashire in the summer.
Thank you so much for all this information! Hopefully I'll utilize them this year and get some shots of at least one but hopefully more of them 😁 Do you keep track of how many species you've seen? I get the feeling you've seen a lot!
I'm not that far from Arundel so I could check that lead out soon!
@CreatureChroniclesUK I used to volunteer for wildlife charities about 20 years ago and really got in to bird watching. I haven’t kept up with it in the last ten years though so any list I did have is on my old computer! At a guess I was around 150-170 on my uk bird list. If you can find someone who knows bird song/calls that will really help you too. Whimbrel for example are so much easier to differentiate from curlew once you know their calls.
I’ve seen a starling murmiration at Brandon marsh
I’ve seen hoopoe in Spain
I hope it was a bit better than this one..
This is awesome. A breath of fresh air😁
Thanks mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it 😀
have you found a egret crane?
Yes I found one in episode 11 and more recently in episode 22 😁
I saw a wild wallaby the other day In Gloucestershire would that count as one of the UK animals on your list?
That's awesome I've heard about them! Was that your first time seeing one? Yes I am planning on finding them eventually 😃
Is that a a velociraptor reincarnated?
It definitely sounds like one 😂
This is what I imagine dinosaurs sounding like
Same here. Imagine that noise coming out of 15 foot tall lizard....
Sounded like a shobill stork by the way I'm jacob dunkin I'm just on my second account
Yeah it did! That's a NUTS animal..
Don’t think I’ve ever seen the red wing before ! new camera’s matching your skills now I love it . such a good video mate !
Thanks bro! Yeah redwings are awesome but they only turn up in winter so you have to keep an eye out to notice them
That hoarse sound is usually territorial..I like swans but my mum is scared to death of them after one chased her around the lake 😂
Haha I don't blame her, probably the scariest bird to be chased by in the UK..
He’s embracing his Dinosaur heritage! 🦖🦢
He channeled his ancestors for that noise for sure
2:43 What a beautiful shot. I love watching Grey Herons fly. There’s just something about the way they look so laid back when they’re in the air. 👌🏻Nice one, Man. P.S. Congratulations on 150 species! 🎊😁👍🏻 P.P.S. Favourite animal so far is difficult. I think it’s possibly those beautiful Red Deer in the early morning mist. 👌🏻 Or that Sparrowhawk.
Dam ! I backed the wrong Bum 🤨🤣
😂
That was really beautiful. Stunning location.
Thank you 😊
I’ve just seen some at Brandon marsh
Was it big?
@ yes
Your mum's garden is lovely. So full of life. I think the Nuthatch is the only bird there I don't get in my garden. I have a Jay that mugs the squirrels instead and a woodpecker that argues with the starlings over the fat feeder. Love your series so far. I look forward to the episode when you go to the Hebrides to see the otters.
Yes she does have a lovely patch 😊 do you ever get anything rare in your garden?
@CreatureChroniclesUK We get a female Sparrowhawk a couple of times a year that drops in to grab a starling for lunch. She roosts at Kempton Park race course. She is quite a messy eater. We have had Redwings come in a clear all the holly berries of the holly tree for one afternoon a year in January. Not seen the hedgehog for a few years.
I saw a squirrel with a mushroom half its size once in a tree while I was picking mushrooms myself. It was not happy that I had found its secret mushroom spot
Haha it's got you on its list of potential food thieves now 😂
I have for two years been on a similar "quest" as you. To aid me when it comes to finding the most illusive species i have learnt/ am learning to bird ring, mist net for bats and use small mammal traps. Just interested to hear if you yourself are considering using any of these conservation methods to cross species off your list while also contributing to the data collection and conservation of species. Amazingly inspirational and uplifting channel by the way. Keep doing what your doing :)
Thank you very much mate 😊 Yes I'd be super interested in learning to do those things! Both for the quest and for the conservation side of things. I'll look into it this year I think. Especially to have any sort of chance of filming bats I think I'll have to catch them.. and I was thinking about getting some humane small mammals traps to try and catch pygmy shrews and common shrews, as the odds of just bumping into one of them seem incredibly low! Do you know how many species you've seen?
@CreatureChroniclesUK I've been fortunate enough to come across some bat roosts by chance but definitely to film the rarer species catching them is the only option really, although surveying bats in this way requires hard to get licenses. I use Longworth traps for small mammals, however licenses are needed to target shrews. Although they occasionally pop up as an accidental bycatch when targeting mice and voles which is perfectly legal. My quest goal is almost identical to yours but with a worldwide scope and including all vertebrates such as fish etc. Currently at 350 confirmed species with the goal of a long way down the road reaching 10,000. Another thing you may be interested in and is useful. Me and my girlfriend, who I do all my adventures with, use inaturalist. The site counts your species and there is a massive community of identifiers who will identify and confirm your species. Also would be a good way for the fans of this series to follow along and check out your ever-improving photography. Also all observations get added to databases used by scientists and various recording groups, yet another way to assist conservation efforts.
Man, it's wild you only started 7 months ago and already have filmed so many animals! My favourite was definitely the water rail, that's definitely a bucket list bird for me to see! Also, you mentioned snow buntings in this video. Do you guys get those at the coast? The only one I have ever seen was when I was in Scotland, at the peak of Ben Nevis!
Yeah the water rail would be very high up my list too! That's the only time I've ever seen one and I was extra lucky for it to be quite close by and stick around for 10 seconds for me to film it 😃 No I didn't spot any snow buntings but I saw online that there were quite a few around Kent, I'll have to try again to spot them another time..
That was a really beautiful mindful moment. The sort of thing you get on Spring/Autumn/Winter watch. Loved it.
Thank you 😃 I'm glad you enjoyed it
some of these shots are beautiful and im feeling inspired to draw them
That would be awesome, which animal would you draw?
@CreatureChroniclesUK sketching the fighting deer right now!
Is there any way we can see you list of so we can see what left?
@@Killerrexy123 in the next video I'll include the full list in the video description 😃
Great video, one of my favourites apart from the one with the foxes and the one with all the rodents!
Thank you mate 😁 I'm hoping to revisit the foxes this year and I'm glad you liked the rodents, I think they're really cool but I was worried most people would find them boring!
Yep ringtail hen harrier!
Awesome thanks for letting me know, I'll add that one to the total then 😃 I hadn't seen one before but assumed they'd be a similar size to marsh harriers, but they're way smaller
@ yeah marsh harriers are the largest uk harrier
Awesome video. The gull at 2:00 is definitely a Common Gull and the raptor at 12:32 is indeed a ringtail Hen Harrier.
Thanks for letting me know 😁 2 new bird of prey species in one video is good going then!
Happy New Year. Looking forward to seeing next year’s videos.
Thank you 😊 happy new year to you too!
Great footage of the deer tussle. If a turnstone goes to live with the oyster catchers you would have a new species - a turncoat.
Not sure which of the animals you’ve filmed has been my favourite so far - maybe the marsh harriers or that incredible little shrew…
I've got a soft spot for the water shrew too 😊
Wonderful wildlife footage and with your commentary and the music, I loved it all! The deer fight was really something!
Awesome video. Best place I know to see water voles is a village near Abingdon called Steventon. A warm spring/summer day by the stream on the village green and you should be able to film them… might be worth making a wish list for 2025 so we can suggest the best places to see the creatures you want to film. Thanks for the awesome content 👍
Cool thanks for the tip, I'd love to get some good shots of them! That's a great idea, I'll have a think about what I'd like to find the most 😊 And happy new year!
A saw 7 herons 3 little egrets and 2 great white egrets when I went to Middleton lakes
Not a bad day then! Shame you didn't spot a bittern though.. maybe next year 😁
@CreatureChroniclesUKyeah
I hope you get there bro! I think I saw you comment on Simon squibs post or something and followed. Keep going after your dream brother!
Yeah that's how I found him too! He's getting cooler than I expected and faster than I could think of. Perfectly well done. I followed my dream and started a new channel too so I can 100% relate.
Thank you very much man 😊 I definitely will! I've got big plans for this year coming!
Thank you bro! What's your channel about?
@CreatureChroniclesUK positive social experiments! I 'specialise' in hugging strangers and making their day with a compliment :) going on a hug tour around the world is another dream!
Summer Leys nature reserve near Wellingborough has a glossy Ibis that's been there a couple of months now.
I'd love to see one of them! I'll try and get over there at some point 😃
I've never seen a newt up close😊
They're awesome creatures ay 😃
We had a 3 acre pond around the corner from me.There used to be Newts, snakes, deer, badgers etc but the land was sold off for housing development. It's a shame that 20 houses and money are more important than wildlife. We also used to get hundreds of frogs/toads pass through our garden every year, now there hasn't been any for 3yrs.
That's very sad 😔 my big dream is buy land to rewild, one day I'll make a new home for those creatures!
@CreatureChroniclesUK same my dream is to get a few acres with a lake/pond with a bit of woodland..Two of my favourite past times fishing and watching wildlife.
@@NeneValleyFishing I hope you achieve your dream!
