Lived in a caravan for twenty five years. We bonded when we were neighbours and both got targeted by drug dealing ex paramilitaries who didn’t like intelligent women seeing what they were doing in plain sight. We both got hounded out. But I was younger and more able to eventually bounce back. She loved The Killers. Which somehow always amused me.

No expense spared. She was blonde and beautiful. She loved whiskey and I loved gin. We spent our birthdays together in May and March. In March we watched Ireland in the six nations. We sat up all night drinking and smoking. I never knew anyone wiser and and more strong and more hurt by men in her life. But she had beautiful sons and beautiful grandchildren. Dylan's gruff, declamatory, vocal changes the nature of this song. What could have been maudlin, even self pitying and overly sentimental is instead assertive but emotionally true. This is not a song by a man who feels the need to prove his love because he has the confidence to show it.
