When the Midwesterner reluctantly travels to Los Angeles to execute a hit on an actor who is bedding a mobster's wife, little does Barry know that the City of Angels may be his sanctuary. He follows his target into acting class and ends up instantly drawn to the community of eager hopefuls, especially dedicated student Sally, who becomes the object of his affection. While Barry wants to start a new life as an actor, his handler, Fuches, has other ideas, and the hit man's criminal past won't let him walk away so easily.

The Best Episode of HBO's Barry (Bill Hader's Masterpiece)
Переглядів 60 тис.2 роки тому
HBO's hit show Barry, created by and starring Bill Hader, returns for its third season in April. In honor of that, I broke down my favorite episode of the show - and one of the best episodes of TV in years. Barry. Season 2, Episode 3. "ronny/lily". Timecodes 0:00 - Intro 1:15 - What We Know About Barry 3:10 - Barry Season 2, Episode 5 3:58 - Violence vs. Peace 5:50 - Grounded Surrealism/Pine Ba...
The show is so bad lol
This show was a masterpiece, it deserves SO much more attention and respect. History will be kind to everyone involved.
Yes. Love this episode. It's the one we will remember decades from now.
This is the episode where Barry went from BizzaroWorld Breaking Bad to BizzaroWorld Big Lebowski (a lot of B's right there) I can totally picture Walter Sobchak with his hands glued to a steering wheel and The Dude explaining "She's... she's not of this world, man"
Bro make another video lol
Excellent review and recap. Thanks.
please make video on season 4:D
I would love to see your breakdown of Season 4
Bill Hader wrote this episode, directed it and starred in it (Alec Berg refers to it as his 'solo album' in the middle of the season). He said afterwards it left him exhausted, but what an amazing effort it is and I'm so glad he's being recognized for it so well. This is the guy who moved to LA to become a film maker, who worked as a production assistant and then in post production for a number of years just to get into filmmaking. This is the guy who joined the South Park & Pixar writing teams solely to get better at writing. I'm so happy for him.
Man, that intro is wonderfully written. Seriously, well done
Ronnie's gunshot wound in the supermarket is quite similar to Albert's in Afghanistan. It looks like the bullet goes through the cheeks/jaw without hitting anything crucial.
Should have won an Emmy. Best directed episode of TV until maybe The Bear
I think it’s time to make another Barry essay buddy
I think you're right.
holy shit dude this breakdown was fucking amazing especially that breakdown of Jim Moss. as someone who would check the subreddut each time a new episode aired as the show went on i know people started disliking Jim Moss because he wasnt punished for his "revenge" but the reframing of avengance and revengance changes it and i get it now lol
would love for you to make a video for season 4, you deserve more attention
In season four, I think Jim Moss tipped into revenge.
Absolutely amazing take on the episode. When I finished it 30 mins ago, I was baffled. Had no idea how to feel about it, since the rest of the series was so grounded in reality. But coming from this perspective, of it more so being telling of Barry and Fuches’ relationship, is so eye opening to me. Now I have to rewatch it.
Addiction? Sarah Goldberg was abused herself, and I'm #MeToo as well.
I was devouring this show anyway, but when I got to this chapter ..ufff I was extatic, in the middle of the chapter I paused to tell a friend how much I was enjoying it. I ended up describing the action as "It was like that bathroom fight in pinneaple express mixed with the surrealism of the invisible car in Atlanta". Loved your video, you earn a new sub.
The sound wasn't a clock, it was the ticking from Fuches putting his hazards on while he goes into the store
i cant believe this show will end next Sunday
I can believe that this Sunday and every Sunday moving forward I will be deprived of my 30 minutes of happiness for the week 😭
I hate that it’s not talked about in the episode Ronny\lily that the roof above them isn’t ruined more for Fuches then Barry because Barry doesn’t want to kill a kid but Fuches does
Good or bad. It doesn't matter. Sometimes it's simply necessary.
barry is not an anti-hero every violent action he commits is for a selfish purpose he is a villain through and through, in season 1 the show plays with the idea of him being evil or not but from then on it's pure villain barry
Is this Bill Hader going Meta? He gets this perfect, and almost sounds like Hader on the audio, seriously.
Great calls on all your Barry episodes - but this one is spot on.
great breakdown - The next couple weeks have me so on edge: I want to watch the episodes weekly but I just don't think I can wait.
Fuches in season 3 can be summed up in one phrase “Bad Choice Road”
Aside from all the obvious things that make this episode great, it aired the same night as the winterfell battle in game of thrones season 8. To go from that disappointing disaster to the masterpiece of Ronnie/lily was unexpected but amazing
What I think is so great about this episode is that it is the only episode, so far, that features just two main characters - Barry and Fuches. No Sally, no Hank, no Gene. No one else besides Loach, who only appeared for like a minute (and he wasn’t even really a main character). We got to see the real depth of connection and differences between Barry and Fuches, unlike the other episodes where we get distractions from other main characters. Kinda reminds me of the “Fly” episode in Breaking Bad with only Jesse and Walt, which, despite the major votes, i thought was one of the best episodes of the series
Stephen Root is a massively underrated actor. In every role he takes on, he turns in an outstanding and unforgettable performance. He's one of the best working today.
I subscribed. Am I forgiven?
Throwing shade at Francis Bacon for too many big words reminds me of the ideocracy film.
can you put the music you use in the description
what are the other best shows on tv right now? cant think of one
When one seeks revenge, one should dig 2 graves.
This show is so funny
You better review Season 4. Also, you jus got a new Subscriber.
it's not the best episode, but it's up there for sure..
This a really nice essay. Probably one of the most creative things ever written. Shakespearian.
@3:02 - my old Beretta 380!! @7:17 - the editors don't know about fire blocking in California construction or they would have pointed it out to Bill then masked it. Whatever was used to slice through two layers of 1/2" drywall should have stopped at 4'.
ha tempor-barry, great analysis!
This is actually a really good video essay. What software do you use? And how do you find footage?
This episode was just annoying asf to watch and was hard to enjoy
This was an excellent break down man. This deserves more views
Thanks! I really appreciate the kind words!
I just finished season 2. Fiches has gone from buisnessman to demon. I hope berry can get the drop on him.
really good video, idk what else to say but i subscribed please keep making these
Fuches getting signs from God to be a goat farmer has got to he one of the best running gags of all time
This is a fine analysis sir! Hope to see more!
If this was any other show, i wouldve said it wrote itself into a corner with the last episode, but this is Barry, and i know s4 will be fantastic
Here one year later. It was fantastic.
@@ChadTheGoose ON GOD IT WAS.
I love Barry. The ending of season 3 has been on my mind since I seen it. How is the new season going to be… so crazy
