This show was so relatable to me in the sense that it is true in Hispanic culture the girls are usually treated as if they are of less importance versus their brothers who are usually loved and valued more. Carmen is written as the "difficult" one simply because of the stereo type that girls are less in control of their emotions and physical feelings. George and Angie taught Carmen nothing but fear and discouragement which later resulted in her acting out. She was always told how little they care about her even though she was a good student and put other people first. They expected Carmen to carry on the tradition of getting married/pregnant young with no career like her mother and grandma. When she showed passion for other things, they showed little interest versus when her brother who was gifted when he brought home good grades.

I just noticed at 3:23 a boom mic is visible in the shot. For some reason I don't feel that's the only production gaffe in the show just from hazy childhood memory. Has anybody documented these kinds of mistakes?

Great video. I am looking forward to the next one. If you are still writing it there are 2 things I hope you include. 1. Episodes 63 and 64, the 2 parter where George and Angie go to Colorado to check out a new job and see if they want to move there. I watched George Lopez on Nick at Nite for years and only saw those 2 episodes once. I wonder if there was some reason for that. 2. Episode 99, The cross over with Freddy. Like many others who were introduced to this show at Nick at Nite I had no idea what Freddy was so that episode always felt a bit strange and anti climatic.

I thought icebergs were the dark sides of things. But i was wrong.

Absolute classic show.

George Lopez from the first two seasons and the rest of the show feel like two different people. In the latter he sounds more Chicano and his hair is shorter.

Haven't seen TGLS since it originally aired back when I was around maybe 8 years old and it's super nostalgic watching these scenes from the show. Gives me that liminal space feeling. Don't know why I clicked on this video in my recommended, but good job on the video! Didn't expect to watch the whole thing.
