i worked at a small family printers many years ago, they changed over from photographic film to digital so all the pipework was ripped out as they did not need chemical processing. The boss knew there was money in the copper, so he got a crew in to rip it all out, the tanks and pipes were heavy guage copper. I took the lot in the company truck to the scrap yard owned by his brother. He didnt want to pay copper price because most of the pipe was filled with 30 years of deposits which was heavier than the copper. He asked me to hand around while they tested the deposits and came back laughing, he said the money was not in the copper it was in the deposits inside. It was oxidised silver bromide which needed to be processed but was basically solid silver, my boss was straight on the phone when i got back to work to his brother. Never knew how much it was but it was a good staff cash bonus and great company Christmas party that year!!!
