This is a photo collection of Hans Joachim Marseille, who was called "Stern von Afrika". He was one of the greatest German ace pilots. But his best merit was the rare beauty,I think. I don't have any political ideology,so I made this only to enjoy the beauty of him. Please understand my intention and enjoy watching! First music is "Rumba Azul" by Lecuona Cuban Boys,Jochen's favorite song. Second...

Has anyone seen the documentary parts 1 & 2 on youtube it really is superb research respect and admiration for a man that was young effortlessly brilliant at being a phenomenal pilot, he and the plane were one. From flying back over enemy lines to drop notes of the pilot he had just shot down so that their families would know what happened and that he was just being a pilot; to being a wonderful human being accepting people from all walks of life regardless of race or religion it would have been so easy to be racist the system was in place but he railed against that - his love of black music jazz ragtime and boogie woogie as you watch the documentary you will be cheering all these years later as he meets the Nazi elite and Hitler asks him to play of course the wonderful Beethoven and after playing magnificently - he broke in to the blackest jazz Fats Waller tune to which I think it was Goering's wife who howled with laughter at Joachim's audacity to which Hitler pronounced once Joachim and finished " well that's enough of that" hehehe I am so glad I stumbled across Douglas Bader Mick Mannock James McCudden Albert Ball all brave courageous strong sensitive and heroic - Hans Joachim thank you for your sacrifice we wish it wasn't so for so many on all sides; you'll find whether pilot ground troops or artillery, and whether British German the Common Wealth and the Allies we humbly say we are truly thankful to all of you.

I study WW2, and honestly, the most strong, kind and lovely person I've met from ALL over Nazi Germany was Hans, some facts that make me love him not only as an aviator but as a person is: When he shot down his first plane, he was sad thinking about how the downed Soldier's family would be, he was an anti nazi and mocked hitler constantly, he always tried to help his comrades and tried not to kill his enemies, using a tactic of not shooting directly at the point of the plane, he saved his black friend who was on a POW to escape the axis, he had a good big heart, he must be the role model for german youth, will never be forgotten ❤

Above his pilot skills, his courage, his patriotism, he was what the French call a "bon vivant", a young good looking guy who loved women, booze, cigarettes, music...having as much fun as possible ! He had a passion for all the good things that life can offer. War didn't let him enjoy much of this and died too young, in his early 20s. He deserved to have had a long life in peacetime. Rest in peace, brave Marseille, the world doesn't forget you.

May all the Victims in World War One l & ll rest in peace🙏Here is a story I like to tell you. Before I was born my Mum and my Dad went into a cinema and saw the movie》The Star From Africa,a anti war movie about H.J.Marseille,played by the German Actor Joachim Hansen.Somehow Marseilles Nickname was Jochen.Well after my parents saw the movie they where so deeply moved by the story that they decided to gave me the name Jochen [which I never liked very much]But....then when I got older[my father died in 1986 and was fighting in the underground in Denmark against the Gestapo and SS,while my mother died in 2014 and grew up as a young girl in the 3 Reich]Well to shorten the story,I remembered why my parents gave me my first name[Jochen] So I bought me the movie on dvd and I was watching it and I started to cry and I wanted to know more about Marseille so I bought me a book from the writer》Franz Kurowski and it was always like deja vue,I can't not find other words.Like me he was born in December and some parts of his persona where like a mirror before my eyes. Then I felt a deep sadness about his tragic end and about all the victims and all Men and Women, and Children that lost their lifes all over the world in these bloody war😔 I m half danish and half german and so on,and I grew up with all the storys of world war ll from my mum that grew up im germany and from my dad that was around 1942 a Police Officer in Denmark etc and was 22 years old while my mum was around 1942 12 years old. They where both born in February my father on the 4th,my mother on the 1th.Well Marseille was 23 when he died.My message to the world is 》Don't let another war happen, because we are all part of the human family.A lots of rich people wants to fight, let them fight.Because in 2022 Blind Faith in our leaders, the media and or anything will put us all on the wrong track.Don't let this happen again !! I read the books German Aces Speak Vol. 1&2. In it Johannas Steinhof describes his hilarious/ unfortunate role as Marseilles commanding officer early in the war. Steinhof finally tiring of Hans antics had him reassigned/banished to Africa. In Africa there was precious little booze, no women and no partying so Hans had no other reason not to become the awesome fighter pilot he became. Marseille was never one to shy away from a combat mission but he didn’t like the newer version of the ME109 and refused to fly a mission. General Kesselring, upon hearing this sent a direct order for him to fly. I believe had Hans lived, he would have become the highest scoring ace of the war leaving Erich Hartmann as the second highest scoring ace. Really enjoyed this video.

I have already commented about Hans. To my mind he represented everything you would expect on a winning side. He saved so many of his fellow pilots and guided allied pilots back to their lines: he could shoot in all points of the compass and always tried to shoot into the wings to allow allied pilots to bail out. Such is survival in war, he innovated tactics, now standard manoeuvres but without the Wizz kid style he possessed. Hans Marseille died because his commanding officer refused to allow him to fly his usual plane, but to test a new model; that plane's engine overheated and caught fire. He finally bailed out, hit a stirrup holding the tail in place, knocked unconcious and fell the ground. A shocking ending. He was just 23.
