Very informative. Happy New Year 🎉
Another excellent video from Adam @ Scan.
Thanks for watching!
Another excellent teaching video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice video, thank you! While the looper is playing the chord progression, can you press the variation buttons to change the variation and add fills? Edit 13:25 looks like you can!
You certainly can!
I would be nice if a masterclass can be made about the Korg Pa5X chord sequencer with all its new edit features since the 1.3.1 update.
Thanks for this tutorial! Here’s a question or suggestion or…? I play several instruments…concertina, fiddle and others, where I want a chord looper track, but can’t cycle through the sections with my free hand…for obvious reasons. I do have a double on/off pedal…can you show how that can be set up to switch forwards and backwards through the loop sections? Or is there something already other there on YT that show that? Cheers!
Another great tutorial, I hear Rod Pooley is now playing Bohm in conjunction with Korg 5x, what a pitty Scan are not agents for Bohm as the U.K no longer has one.
Nice to see you. Bill Peterborough
Thank You very much. That was really helpful. I have not yet used the looper. Will try it out now.
Glad it was helpful!
Vey good demo from Simon. Interesting tips I never saw before on the device. Keep on doing the good job! The Genos 2 is a beast that deserves more demos to express its enormous capabilities 😮😊. Happy Christmas Holidays…
I just discovered that you can use the Yamaha cord tracker app and scan Music and send it to the chord looper.
Great tip!
@ I will give you a little bit of an update about this a little later today, cause I gotta check one thing since I just learned how to do it I think it would make a good video for your people to cover.
@@Denvermorgan2000 Wow! Does it divide the song up into some the 8 parts or keep it all one chord sequence ?
@ I will let you know I just figured this out but I think it’s divided up in segments in the app if you send the whole song it sends it as a MIDI file that’s played by the song player but segments go to the looper but I need to experiment a little more to be sure I have a good grasp on how this works.
@ here’s how it works. There are two ways to use the information from the Yamaha tracking app. You can send the whole song by simply bringing in a song and telling it to send the song to instrument in the upper left-hand corner of the app or you can send the portion of the song to the cord looper by dragging down over the section which you wish to send to the chord looper then there is an arrow on a pop-up menu there that says more or something like that and you select that and then tell it to send to the instrument then it will be sent as cord looper data otherwise it will send it as a song one note when you send the whole song it sent as Midi data and you have to select that kind of data when choosing the song to open it there’s a small slider that selects the type of data when you open the song just toggle it over to Midi.
The chord looper on the Yamaha Genos can be found as a chord sequencer on the Korg PA keyboards, which can already be used on the Korg keyboards, and the way you can use it on the Genos can be used on the PA keyboards from Korg in the keyboard set, I mean it's not a new feature it's been around for a while and it's a nice way to get your hands to do something different on the keyboard, with the Genos it's pushed as if it were new is..Hi Adam can also present a similar video for the Korg PA keyboards, a comparison Yamaha / Korg thank you and a happy new year
Thanks for watching great suggestion
Is there a video to show how to convert Songbook from Pa4X to Pa5X?
Am I dreaming or does the intro show the chords? Finally Korg, thanks! Thx for the video. I love my 4X.
It certainly does!
I'm sold!

Thanks for your videos. From my VA76 I'm used to send midi ProgramChange messages from the UserProgram list (128 pr list) to my PC, in which they through the excellent program BomeMidiTranslator opens the relevant score file. So just two (or one) touch, and you have the setup and the score ready for play. Does the PA5X send midi ProgramChange messages from the Songbook or from some other list? I can't remember text and chord to many hundred songs, so a function like this is quite crucial to me. Thanks if you will answer.
excellent
Thanks for watching!
An other question I wasn't able to find an answer for: I made a complete backup before the update to 1.3.1. After updating I tried to restore my own setlist. I was not able to find a way to restore it without deleting the new factory setlist. The LISTDB.SBL holds all the information of the setlists, but unfortunatly you cannot choose only parts of it to restore, - as if with other parts of the backup. Anyone any idea?
Is there a quick way to transpose the chord sequence into a different key without globally transposing the entire keyboard? Or do you have to actually edit the chord sequence and transpose each chord by manually entering the appropriate root for each chord in the desired key?
Unfortunately not the chord sequence will only play what you have physically recorded in to the Pa5X.
Thank you my friend
Highly enjoyable demo from the dream team
Thank you 😊
Interesting indeed, but quite hard to follow because of the sound "pumping" each ten seconds. Thanks!
Noted.. fixed for the next one. Appreciate the feedback.
Another great and informative video. Very helpful - please keep them coming 🎹😄👍
More to come!
Is there away you could possibly help me. I have a problem with my Pax5 arranger. Please let me know how to contact you or you can contact me and will see how to get into more details. Thanks a lot.
What problem are you having?
Great Video.👍👍
Thank you lots more to come!
When will you put another Genos masterclass video on UA-cam channel. First one was very helpful😊
Another one coming asap!
I hope someone can answer this for me because I’m going crazy trying to find the information. My question is: When I have the keyboard set to “split”, is there a way to change only the octave if the lower part of the split??? When the keyboard is split, I notice that only the upper sounds are effected by the octave change; I want to know if there is a way to do the opposite.
Yes you can change the octave for any part in the tuning tab of the mixer. +12 or -12 for an octave shift.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. This is very helping 🙏🏼
Excellent tutorial. Thanks so much for showing so clearly how to use the chord sequencer. I thought it was worth mentioning to other viewers here that with Korg's release of the 1.3 operating system for the PA5X, Korg now makes it possible to assign chord sequences to the 16 matrix pads. This opens up the possibility to change the chord sequence in real time, say for instance if the bridge of a song uses a different chord progression. That capability makes it really easy now to have the PA5X automatically play an entire song's chord progression, freeing you up to concentrate on your own performance. A really powerful and IMHO much needed improvement!
Great point! I have gone through this on another video, as when I filmed this 1.3 wasn't available as it was filmed sometime ago.
A new PA5X owner here. I'm really impressed with your video that so clearly explains the capabilities of the Songbook and Set List features of the PA5X. I have two related questions about the file structure of the Songbook and how the PA5X manages the installation of new Songbook entries that one might load from external sources. I ask because this wasn't clear (at least to me) from reading the PA5X manual and I want to make sure I don't do anything wrong! First, am I correct that the PA5X - unlike past Korg arrangers like the PA4x - stores all songbook entries in a single consolidated songbook? And that in effect the new Setlist feature essentially eliminates the need to create separate songbooks to categorize and organize songbook entries? I am not criticizing this approach if that is the case. I just wanted to make sure I understand it! Second, I recently purchased and am about to install some new content for my PA5X which contains some great new keyboard sets, styles and songbook entries, all stored in a PA5X-formatted KST file. If I load all of this content (making sure not to check the REPLACE ALL box) into my PA5X will the additional songbook entries simply get incorporated and consolidated into the factory-supplied songbook? I just want to make sure what the procedure is before doing so! Any advice about this would be greatly appreciated!
You have to do something with the colors. The screen is way out. Calibration should help. Ask Paul Carmen to help you out. His video has the right colors.😊
Noted.. thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for all your great and useful videos about the PA5X. I appreciate it. Could you please explain in a short video why my favourite user page style from my PA4X set is not coming to the PA5X?
Have you converted using the Pa4X converter on the Pa5X?
Thank you so much for another great tutorial on the Pa5x. I have watched many many tuts since I got my Pa5x and I must say that yours have helped me the most. You have a clear way of presenting the complex features of this wonderful instrument that just seems to help the information sink in. If I may ask, a Masterclass on creating ones own User Mode sounds from the Pa5x sound engine would be so very helpful to many like myself. Thanks again for a great tutorial. Best regards from down under.
Thanks for watching and for your kind comments!
You can change the setting of the menu to browse through styles and sounds. You will then see the pages at the bottom of your display, just like with the Korg and Genos, which is much easier to work with than using the dial. For this you need to install the latest Updates to get access to that function.
Good observation and thanks for the comment. This video was filmed quite some time ago..
Adam, would you happen to have the MIDI settings to connect the EVM to the Pa5X AND also to the Genos2? They are quite different and I cannot get the correct settings. Thanks for your help.
I don't currently but planning a video for the future
It would be great to see a video with the Pa5x and the Ketron together. Perhaps you could consider this? Thanks for starting this series!!!
Good idea I'll add it to the list!
Fantastic !!! I have both a Ketron SD60 & also an Event61, amazing keyboards indeed.
Thanks for watching!
@@ScanKeyboards You're most welcome, your videos are always excellent. I have all 3 main keyboards, Event, Pa5x & Genos2 so your videos are invaluable, especially at how great you present them :)

Thanks for your comments lots more content coming!
Very good content !
Thanks for watching!
Very very good channel ! Please more for Genos2 and Korg Pa5X ! Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Hey Adam, I'd like to share a cool trick with everyone. We know that we've got three uppers and one lower. If you don't need the keyboard to split, and want an additional sound. Set the split point all the way to the top out of range, find a sound you need for the whole keyboard. Turn off upper 1-3 hit split and lower on and there you go! An additional sound.
Adam, when I get a lot of money, I'm gonna fly you over to NYC and pay you a SHIT LOAD of MONEY and your gonna teach me EVERYTHING!!!! 😜
Ha ha looks forward to that!! Thanks for watching!
Hi, thank you for your helpful video. How to add tremolo on cello sound on pa5x?! I mean using pitch band or those 3 assignable buttons. Thank you 🙏
Great work guys...I've been struggling to understand all the changes from my ancient Tyros 4... in particular the sliders and knobs above... the manual has been of little help... I also know now about the useful demo of every voice....many thanks again
Thanks for watching!
Hi Adam, I'm a huge Korg Fan with the same setup as Pete Shaw (PA5X, Nautilus 88 & Roland PK5). What I would give to have the same registration feature as Yamaha arrangers (storing a style along with the registration). Can it be done ???
Yes just create a songbook entry, Just a slightly different system.
Great Video. thanks a lot. For the Style mute feature you should perhaps show the mixer (assignable button B). Than it’s obvious what this function is doing. Unfortunately dynamics control can still not be saved in a registration. BTW: You could ask a manual a question by uploading it to AI ;-)
Thanks for the tip!
great stuff gents!
Thanks for watching!
It's still a bit of a toy compared to the PA5X in terms of settings, even if the Genos 2 sounds very good, the settings are very limited.
I was very impressed with the features I found in this video!
Thanks anyway for your videos, they are always very useful.
@@ScanKeyboardsthe gentle reply ever... I too like pa5x... Please do more videos of pa5x Adam..
Thanks for watching!
Lots more coming!
Hello Adam. Thank you for all those very useful and very well explained videos. Would you teach us how to play along a singer from an audio file using our style of choice ?
Check out the Keyboard Set Masterclass video I cover this at the end...
@ScanKeyboards Thank you for your answer Adam. I still don't know how to find an audio file ( acapella? just the singer's voice ) to sing along over my playing with any rhythm with acompaniment. Do they sell such thing? Let's say I'd like to play "my way" with Sinatra's voice along. I saw a Polish guy making a concert with recent disco hits with the singer of each song singing along to his playing with acompaniment.
Just search on UA-cam for acapella content that's how I found mine..
