Flyfishing for Carp on the Pedernales River with Gabe Cross
Hope you guys enjoy this short edit of a day on the water with Gabe Cross chasing carp. Gabe is an excellent young fly fisherman who is passionate about the sport, we are lucky to have kids like him involved in fly fishing. With the crazy low water in Texas, the fish were spooky and uncomfortable so they made us work for them.

Articulated Carp Fly Step-by-Step: Damsel Nymph Imitation
Переглядів 6 тис.5 років тому
This is a fun fly to tie that is great for finicky carp. It imitates a damsel nymph and has great movement due to the articulated tail. Plenty of foam and soft hackle make it enter the water softly and wiggle enticingly on the bottom. I will include links to some of the materials that you can't buy in fly shops. If you would rather buy this fly, you can find it on my website: fishchaseflies.com...

its hilarious that people talk about the game change like it was a game changer. We've had this design for decades. I fished it when i was a kid in the 80s and 90s. It was called a rapala. The nerd didnt come up with nothing new, just made a damn rapala out of fur, feathers, and plastic strands. lol.

Well done, great work! but...but... Replacing the polar fox with kanekalon or congo is exactly the same thing...Using polar fox for fly tying is an aberration today...You have to know how to evolve in the right direction in 2022...Isn't a fly fisherman above all a nature lover ?

@@JohnJames. Thanks for the reply... I did make a variation some time ago and had some nice carp in the Autumn/Fall here in Spain, exactly as you say - mainly put in front of them... but a few (minority) whilst stripping in. It was the best fishing of the year. Put in front of them in the margins while they were head-down/tail-up was the most successful method. Curiously, more successful in smaller size of 14, which is a bit different to the usual recommendations, but maybe that's just here. Happy fishing!

I discovered this video today and tied one of these flies up in all black. I figured it would imitate a helllgrammite nymph. I fished it today and caught 1 smallmouth and 2 freshwater drum in my local river. I consider fly tying one of my hobbies and when I saw this video I thought, that is a very cool fly design. Thankyou for sharing man.
