Cummins Heads Have Issues? No Way
Переглядів 76912 годин тому
Our diesel cylinder heads deliver a level of quality unmatched by typical options on the market. A common failure in the VP44 Cummins head is the OE expansion plugs blowing out, which leads to coolant leaks mixing with oil and causing catastrophic engine damage. We tackle this problem head-on by removing these vulnerable plugs, replacing them with extra-strength, CNC machined plugs, and sealing...

Cass, we're glad your doing better!
Thank you!
Awesome stuff!
Thanks
What do you guys think about the new speed air pistons? have you tested those or have done any build, just curious on having those on a work horse 7.3 in the future thanks for all those videos with all your knowledge!
There is currently no data backing that they make enough of a difference to be worth the price, but we have put them in builds before per customer request. If you would like to discuss them, or which pistons would be best for a build, feel free to call and speak with one of our specialists at (901) 553-9847.
i wonder if these o-ring thing could be good for motor with head gasket problem like ecoboost , fiat or chevrolet cruise ????
I do not know why not. O-ring was originally done on the gas engines. Thanks for commenting!
how much will this cost to repair?
It varies depending on the amount of time and materials needed to get the engine back up and running.
I was basically resurrecting my nephews 89 f350 long bed dually crew cab diesel puckup in his driveway. It had a blown up 7.3 non turbo When we were cleaning up the engine I was installing, I told him it runs good enough to paint the engine. He said he would like to have me paint it, so I told him to pick up 2 cans of engine paint. And you know what color Jonathan bought & brought home... "NEON LIME GREEN"😂😂😂 I said, "Hey, it's your pickup, and it's engine paint"😎☕
Replaced engine New clutch & flywheel Ujoints Brake pads and shoes Fixed power windows Fixed running boards Repaired left rear corner of cab Replaced rear slider window Replaced the grill, headlights headlight buckets and side markers Front bumper, Fitted an 85 tailgate with the latches, catches and hardware In sure I forgot a few other things... Oh, yeah,, Injector seals and coppers. Glow plugs and relays . I won't say how little he paid...😶😶😶
Howard Price Turf Equipment used these in their Hydro-Power 180 16.5' Wide Area Mowers. 100-110HP Turbocharged. Always loved the sound of thoes at full power. Too bad that company went extinct!
Fire rings are not cheap
That green 👍
Great video !
There has been a mass lifter epidemic new manufactured lifters failing because of cheap substandard materials
Sure thing! Thanks for stopping by and commenting
This why I tell customers 5000 miles on oil changes if you’re daily driving the truck and 3000 miles if it tows and hauls. Is it overkill? Maybe, but regular oil changes are still cheaper than engine replacement.
I can't get the warranty department to get back to me on the issues with my 7.3l diesel i bot from choate a few months ago for 15k
We are opening from 7am-5pm monday through friday. The phones are always answered. Call back please!
For every guy that likes the 6.4 there are 10 guys that are bankrupt because of this engine. It’s nice to see people are figuring this engine out and building on the platform to this day. This makes it easier to buy as a weekend truck.
So basically egr is the cause 🤦♂️
or is it?
Can you do this to gasoline engins, too?
It depends on the type of gas engine, but we focus on diesel engines.
Aluminum sucks
not always. Why do you say this ?
Were are you located at
We are located in Bolivar Tn . We do ship nationwide !
The fact that you have to fix things straight from the factory on a $60,000 truck is painful.
Agreed! That is our moto. Build the way the factory should have in the first place!
My gosh ive seen bad from valve seats but thats the absolute worst I've ever seen most definitely.
We see these types of failures so often. Thanks for stopping in and commenting. What do you do for a living? Are you in the diesel industry?
How much will this cost to have you do this? Also, can you do amuch wider seat for porting purposes?
Ewwww 20 atleast
Yes we can machine an oversize seat! Porting is an add on to any of our cylinder head packages.check out the link in pie video for the cylinder head of your choice
Did you see the heat , thats how everything melts and comes apart.
for sure!
My question is how did the valve seat get past the head of the valve since the valve is larger than the seat. Looks like other issues are going on to cause the valve seat to come out and the head of the valve would have to have come off as well.
I broke the head of the valve when it came of. Check out Sec 28 in the video. Thanks for asking!
if its not a solid oring it doesnt do anything
Says who?
Young Lisa Miller Anna Lee Jose
Whats wrong with camera?
Apparently we can't record without lots of movement!
That table is pretty clean, what kind of rust preventative do you use?
We use a Kimball Midwest Torq "CB" Corrosion Blasting Penetrating Oil to clean with after use and for rust prevention.
If this is Choate here in West TN I had a guy tell me to put in an application there about a year ago after we were talking about wrenching on diesels. I'm in South Jackson close to Mercer area. I thought he said yall was in Toone. I Was just curious if this was the same place.
This is Choate in West TN! We are located in Bolivar, not Toone. You can check our job openings here: choateperformance.com/careers/
Situation dictates.
Any time the heads come of they should always be checked. Period.
Im new to diesels in general. Ill start by saying , your podcast has been a wealth of knowledge. Especially having a 6.0 as my intro into the game, and currently dealing with head gasket failures. Im here to say, keep up the grind brotha. To see this from 3 years ago your killen it. Your interview skills have developed a ton, this subject might be a good one to touch back up on. Or maybe even a series about rebuilding. Being new i dont have anyone to suggest, but im sure you get the point.
@@StylesToHate thank you very much!
I bet it liked that 😂😂
The 6.4 on paper was an amazing design but the bean counters got a hold of it and ruined the concept…it’s too bad that Ford didn’t take over design and production of the 6.4 because with proper engineering I believe the 6.4 would have been the best diesel on the road!..
Based and manual pilled.
Chevy also?
Yes, we have products for the Chevy Duramax line as well.
How many miles is high mileage with the stock air-cleaner box?
Love them!
A trip to a state park with my wife and 6 kids in my 6.0 Excursion (that will have a Choate engine in it one day) 🙂🇺🇸🦅. Love the vid ❤️
Thanks for the comment! how was the trip?
@@choateengineeringperformance Longhorn Cavern State Park. Kids loved seeing the bats fly over our heads, lol.
Vacation 🎉🎉🎉
Where too???
@choateengineeringperformance doesn't matter as long as someone gets to go.
I'm sorry I've been a ford diesel tech for 15 years now and I haven't seen this on any powerstroke or any other of it's competitors I agree It's a problem but it's not expected, unless it's valve float from over reving because of performance upgrades chips, tunes, ect..... all engine components have limitations.
keep in mind as engine builders we only see failures.
He definitely doesn't know what he thinks he knows
Dont we all. However facts are facts. Fact check me. :)

This is freaking awesome! So much easier than having to piece it together, prob takes a lot less time too.
Oh yeah! So many of us spent so much time looking for these products when it cost less to just buy it as a kit from us!
What's the damage on this kit and do ya'll offer stage 3 or 4 kits???
Our kits start as low as $1599 at a stock replacement level and can be customized to match high stage builds depending on what your goals are for the build. We like to use a stage 2 cam, coated/flycut/delipped pistons, and chromoly pushrods to achieve a reliable tow build or a stage 2, but we can customize further than that depending on your goals. For more information feel free to give us a call at (901) 553-9847.
😎
Never understood pretty internals. No ones gonna see it and they're gonna end up covered in carbon and oil.
The gold coloring is just a nice side effect from the process of coating our pistons. The coating itself increases reliability and performance of our pistons.
Smooth brain wrenchlet detected. Strong parts tend to look nice, you should stick to eating your crayons.
