If you only buy 1 pound of grass seed it's around $8-$10 a pound. And you're right trying to use a 5 gallon bucket isn't worth it, it is the wrong thing to use to obtain seed off of the grass.

Get a cardboard box and shake the grass in it. One larger than the grass. Trying to use the 5 gal. bucket doesn't work because the grass is taller that the bucket. You could add some plastic twist wire connectors inside the box to safely knock the seeds off of the stems. Growing some small patches of grass for seed is not a bad idea since grass seed has gotten so expensive unless you buy a huge amount. I don't need a huge amount, so this is a smart and inexpensive way to go. let mothernature work for you.

Fertilize with a low nitrogen choice like 7-20-20 or a carrot or radish row crop fert, even better with trace elements and the seeds will be better quality.

lowes has the 80lb contractor pack for 83 dollars, with my vet it makes sense to just buy a pack and spread. I do cut and rake tall fescue to relocate in "repair" spots in my yard.

Very helpful. I found it difficult to get the electrical connector difficult to disconnect - however I was able to rotate the blower with the connector connected then lower and rotate the blower to provide easier access to the connector to disconnect. This was the first replacement so I had to remove the firewall insulation similar to what had been done in your case. I had a dual heating unit so access/ viiewing was more restricted but having this video was very helpful in accomplishing this job - thanks!

If you look at those grass seed layers people put out to keep seed in place outside Incase of rain or wind. It’s just seed laid down first, a bit of straw scattered (perhaps use a different alternative, suggestions?). And then the net to keep down the hay which keeps down the net. Not sure what kind of net to use or if I can get away with a dark blanket as most seeeds don’t need to sun to germinate. Just when they get going as all nutrition to start is in the seed.

I would mulch mow it and use that
