Solution?
Rebuild front driveshaft double cardan, or perhaps just remove the front driveshaft all together...jeep will still run with rear driveshaft...just no dirt trails ss no 4x4..
Great video! I have a question regarding your tires... looks like you've replaced your factory rims and tires with nice off road tires and rims. I have ordered mine thru Tire Rack, but haven't put them on my 1995 Dodge American Cruiser (same Dodge van and chassis as the Roadtrek). When I ordered the new rims and tires, Tire Rack had an exclaimer that stated that because of the tires' "aggressive fit", the van may need a lift kit. My question to you is: did you have to install a lift kit on your van in order the tires have proper clearance? I did notice that these rims and tires that I have ordered from Tire Rack are a little wider than the factory width of the tires that were on the van (now a 245 width).
Thank you so much for your kind word! The tires I ordered were the original sized tires. 235/75r15. 245 will be somewhat wider. The rims I ordered have a wider offset. What is the offset of the rims you purchased? I like using this calculator. tiresize.com/calculator/ If your tires are under 30” I think you’ll be good! Mine are 28.9”
@@Fred_Amyett Thanks for the reply. A mechanic friend of mine said that my new tires would fit. The Ram B3500 body does have enough clearance for my new tires.
great content man, just a quick question, what is the piece you used to off set the screw to the center and where can i get one too? keep up the great work
Thank you!! The center screw for the air cleaner I kept. Didn’t have to offset anything 👍
Thanks for your video. Your headlight link doesn't work. Which brand did you choose?
Is there an aftermarket that's already like that so I don't have to do that
holley 52mm but its 600 bucks or hughes
There is this is the sub $20 at your own risk mod haha
didnt even see the shower
It’s in the bathroom/hallway
We have a 95 dodge 2500 mark 111 hightop and we really enjoy it, it's mostly renovated
Love these dodge vans hope to keep mine forever! Plan on renovating it once I return to the Mainland!
@@Fred_Amyett it’s very possible to keep them forever , it’s no different then burying one underground all you have to worry about is corrosion they are built like bunkers, we have new wood flooring, full size bed and bed frame built out of 2x4s and 2x6s a fully working sink with a 7 gal tank, the water just drains under the van, has power hookups 110 plugs has one 100w solor panel that quit working unfortunately lol, it’s pretty cozy it has a propane fire system for the winter that looks like a fireplace, and has a General Electric AC system via window unit lol
Halleluiah! I've been having this noise get worse and worse, but searching various phrases, finally found someone with the same noise. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
@@Fred_Amyett coincidentally, I actually just happened to finish fixing it yesterday, and after a drive today, not a peep anymore :) That ended up being my exact problem!
These 360 Magnum Engines have those Beer keg manifolds and their stupid Steel belly pans beneath them. They should have been made of Aluminum like the manifold itself. They have completely different expansion contraction rates, steel and aluminum. That is what causes the Leaks in intake manifold gaskets. Heat Cycling and expansion rates. Buy an Aluminum replacement online. They are available under 100 bucks, i believe. Total design flaw.
I plan on doing this modification once I get back to the Mainland and look over the engine! First thing will be a compression test to make sure all the work I’m doing is worthwhile
@@Fred_Amyett yes sir
You can also purchase another Intake air temp sensor which is basically just a temp sensing diode....and install it along with extending and soldering the wire on the pigtail to reach the coolest part of the black plastic intake tube by the passenger fender wall opening. Simple job wrap it in loom and run along side intake tube. This tricks the ecm in thinking the air is cooler coming in and adjusts the mix process toward a very slight performance and MPG increase. The response is ever so slight. If you notice this engine has the original location on the beer keg intake manifold but most other vehicles have it located in much cooler spots toward the ends of intake tubes and near Mass airflow sensors. " on other engines" likely for the same reason. Ive had no issues for years and years having done it. Why they would place this sensor on the hot engine block..who knows. Its been said to be a design flaw. But like other odd things found on Mopars like these Beer keg manifolds and their stupid Steel belly pans beneath them. They should have been made of Aluminum like the manifold itself. They have completely different expansion contraction rates, steel and aluminum. That is what causes the Leaks in intake manifold gaskets. Heat Cycling and expansion rates.
Great video. So much helpful information. Thanks for posting.
Glad it was helpful!
How long can you run your A/C with the house battery ?
About 20 minutes. Definitely not setup to run for long even when driving
Was thinking of buying the sensor on Amazon also but felt very skeptical, was told I could only get it at the dealer. How’s the car running with that sensor?
They have it at auto part store to. Which may be about the same price as the dealer. They told me like $58 for my Kia but I’m waiting to see how the one from Amazon looks because they let me take a photo of it at oReily. I compared online photos and a lot of them are using the same image
Sensor is still working great 2 years later!
@@Fred_Amyett wonderful news. I have a 2014 Kia optima and the mechanic I went to had me get transmission fluid replacement first cus he said I may not need the sensor. Check light still popping on after it’s been cleared twice. Now he saying he won’t replace it because he thinks the entire transmission is going out. Due to the jerking when shifting.
I had the exact same issue.
Glad this video is still helping!
In good looking truck. Worth fixing up. That looks like a 2 barrel manifold. 4 barrel oned would be easy to find if you want to go that way. I would. Seems to me exhaust to steerin box clearance is a problem with that swap but lots of people have done it. Good luck.
Thank you so much for the info love this truck! Hope to get it finished up someday!
Where are ya'll at in Oklahoma?
IMO, 4x4 on a 50s or 60s rig is rare, and that truck would make a great camping rig.
They are rare! Maybe 4x4 will be the way to go!
A five window '54 3100 is a classic!
Always loved the way they looked!
Great video….If your Road Trek had a 6 inch lift kit, how do you think it would have handled those roads? How did the interior hold up? Keep having fun!
Would be awesome with that much of a lift! I just like being stable on the highway when we tow and fitting under the 9 foot entrance at drive-throughs haha. My main concern is messing up the black tank/propane but I’ll be removing all that when I get back from Hawaii
That's not a cotter pin...
What size rims ?
15 inch!
Stock ride height ?
Yes high from the factory!
I am too chicken to attempt that in my van
Haha they do quite well off road!
Love it can
Great vid, and nice rig! My wife and I are in the process of completely rebuilding the inside of our 1997 Roadtrek 190 Popular (Dodge B3500). It's been an ordeal, to say the least. But to be quite honest, we think these old "Dajiban" are awesome! Great to see you enjoying yours. Anyway, I thought you mentioned somewhere in the vid about needing to "recertify" the propane tank. I'm about 99.998% certain that is NOT needed, as these propane tanks are "ASME" tanks, not "DOT" tanks. It's my understanding that ASME tanks (that are permanently fixed to the frame of the vehicle) NEVER need recertification. DOT tanks, like what you would see sitting on the tongues of travel trailers or the BBQ-style tanks, they do need recertified every so often. I've heard of some cases where less-than-knowledgeable folks who happen to fill propane tanks (such as U-Haul) have refused to fill ASME tanks because they don't see a recert tag. Well, they don't have one because they don't need one. If you run into this, I'd suggest going to a propane supplier who services homes or commercial customers. They know the deal.
Wow thank you for this awesome reply! Sorry for late reply life has been busy! I hope to rebuild the interior of our van one day! Pretty sure I’m going to take the propane out of my van and switch to diesel/ electric. I will keep one small bottle for cooking!
bruh u should curved the "barrel" inlet and outlet so the air can curve in there. and shaved the torx screws flush and install them with locktight. cool vid anyways 🤙. mopar!!!
🤙🤙🤙 MOPAR!!! Thanks for the advice!
Anyone notice that brown thing on the right side at 4:19?
What thing?
Sasquatch??
Did u notice any performance or have a 0-60 before and after this mod
Slight improvement in acceleration from 0-30. Especially throttle response
I have. 03D170 p Roadtrek . I see you used 5w -30 but according to this article maybe you would be better of with 10w-30. 5W-30 multi grade oil is ideal for private vehicles and light-duty petrol and diesel engines. It also provides a better cold temperature start than 10W-30 oil. On the other hand, the slightly thicker oil,10W-30, provides better lubrication for commercial vehicles and heavy-load engine cars. My engine has only 30 k miles so I’m not sure but one oil company that makes the best pil out there Amsoil says for my 318 5.2L I should go with the 10-30 w.
Go with whatever oil your research recommends. I was in a cold environment so I used 5w30. Also might help mpg a tad and cold starts. 10w30 is great!
Thank you, Fred, for this video. It comes my way at the perfect time. I bought a 94 Dodge Roadtrek last year, and I still have her gutted for rust repairs. You have a clear way of describing things. I'll be sure to follow you.
Thank you for the follow! Love these vans hope to restore mine one day too!
Where’s your video on the converter and are you still using it
Do you run your fridge on propane mostly?
That’s all I run it on. But it is very temperamental to work ok I will be removing it and replacing it with a 12volt ice cooler style refrigerator
i evicted the power hogging furnace for a china diesel heater, furnace was loud also. really like the new heater.
Yes!! This is my goal! Going to go no propane..(except for maybe camping cooktop..TBD
What is the minimum ground clearance required?
Did anyone suggest you replace the wiring harness as well? I’m being told that sensor goes in/on the harness and if we’re pulling the pan we should replace the whole harness. I don’t have any rough shifting but the engine light is on so I can’t get emissions. Wondering if I should try replacing only the sensor.
Same! I saw another video and the mechanic said you had to as well - it’s like a 30 minute video
Sorry for my late reply. Never got this suggestion but I didn’t consult a mechanic just did my own research online. This repair is holding up still almost 2 years later.

I love how you note that the shock replacement is challenging immediately after the transition to it being light outside 😆
Haha it truly was a great frustration! Literally did one shock at a time on the front because it took so long. I edited out the part that I spent a full minute complaining about the process lol!
