Anyone know how to get in touch with Chris Smetana! I have an educational request
Is this also how the paramedic refresher course videos are done?
Question - you state in the video around the 12:48 mark that the CO2 is 28, which means the patient is compensating. Genuine question - how is this compensating, when normal CO2 levels should be 35-45? Is it compensating by the fact that he is blowing off too much CO2, meaning he is breathing in more oxygen than normal? I would think his PaO2 would be higher than 80 if he was compensating. Help me understand this a little better please. Thank you!
Great video but ensure you know the products you are using most prefilled saline flushes are not FDA approved or intended for medication reconstitution. The following is from the insert of one used in our area. Typically used in interventional radiology and critical care, the syringe supports applications such as PICC insertions. It is intended to be used only for the flushing of indwelling vascular access devices.
Awesome Video, it would be terrible for someone to push epi thinking its a flush
Lol the effective vaccine, god such bullshit. Really what a ton of corporate bs
I used your course, passed my FPC first time and have been a flight paramedic for a year now. It is the most challenging and rewarding job I have had so far. Keep up the good work guys
Nice. Do you do in person training?
Great video!
❤
does Texas approve of these CEU's???
This is a great episode! Need more!!
IA Med's FP-C course online is TERRIBLE. I cannot recommend enough that you look elsewhere... unless you like poorly edited recordings of a live course.
My favorite part was how often the interviewer interrupted the doctor. Good stuff
right???
Oxygen good
Carbon bad
Looking to get out of the military and taking my flight medic exam on the 22nd. Thanks for all of your help, IA Med.
Much respect for what you do… Singer/Songwriter of “Paramedic Rescue 101”. ua-cam.com/video/M_kd08I3x7w/v-deo.html
Awesome. Thank you!!!
Straight to the point! Great tutorial.
This course is for certification and test correct?
Correct Shannon, this is for the IBSC or BCEN test prep (FP-C, CCP-C< CFRB, CTRN) and satisfies the required 16-Hour approved review course by the IBSC and meets CAPCE and CA BRN accreditation for 32 Paramedic or RN CEUs.

im 35 do you see flight medics at my age and older if you average fit? or is that too old to start to reach this level
I started flying at age 46.. Now age 53 and still flying rotor wing. I honestly dont physically feel any different than I did at age 25.
Sorry to ask a dumb question, but what is “capcia accredited” I think I misheard but I’m having trouble figuring out what that is?
Possibly CAPCE accredited courses
Very helpful information, thank you sir!
Give calcium only if you’re giving blood products though right? No studies show that calcium helps if given earlier on just in case. You can just always give it along with the blood transfusion right?
Nice, Video,👍

How long were you a firefighter... what was your rank.....
What are the exact requirements? X amount of flight hours, college credits, ect? I am from Utah and plan on starting flight school soon just need a little more money and I’m set. I’m curious what extra requirements are needed than what is required for a normal helicopter pilot job.
Magnesium Glycinate and GABA have worked wonders. Especially at the fire station, can still wake up for calls but makes getting back to sleep much easier.
Can you go from nothing to flight paramedic or need to work as a regular paramedic for a while ?
Mc - No you would not be able to go straight to a flight paramedic. You would first need to obtain your paramedic certification. Afterward depending on the program, you would be able to apply. A majority of programs in the US are accredited by CAMTS or NAAMTA which require a minimum of 3 years experience as a paramedic in a busy 911 system or equivenlent. We have a free How to Become a Flight Paramedic course dropping next week so keep your eyes out. It will review many questions you may have along with, interview tips, resume writing, and what to expect on the journey to becoming a Flight Paramedic. We thank you for the interest, you can check out more and some of our blogs at www.iamed.us/
@@IAMEDICINE okay thanks
What do you think the relation is with wearing a mask and blocking that exit of positive ions in carbonic acid?
This was awesome. Thank you for the info - I just finished a BS in Kinesiology, now joining the national guard as a combat medic to get that EMT-B cert. Flight medic is the end goal! 🤘🏼
Right, on Brett! Thank you for your future service. Let us know when you're ready for the skies, were more than happy to help you achieve those goals, sir.
Nice moves kid. I did active duty and national guard as a 11B. Again nice moves kid
This is the third time I have listened to this message. Thanks for the positive change your are helping to facilitate in a profession that desperately needs to get back to connecting with our patients, and stop scooping up patients that make us uncomfortable. Keep the great work guys! I can’t wait for the next talk.
Thank you so much for your support!
Thank you for the comment Jared! PA
Flight paramedics, flight nurses and aviation medicine specialist doctors are the future of aviation worldwide.
Very very helpful
Thanks, Antonio we are glad you enjoyed it!
I worked at the U of U hospital a while ago. Loved seeing the helicopters come in. Thanks for your hard work.
I have been a pediatric/trauma/CICU RN for over 30 years. I have talked to many parents a while after the death of their child and asked them what we did that helped, and what we could have done better. You are spot on Dr. Antevy. Thank you. Dusty Lynn RN, EMT-P
Dusty - Thank you for the feedback and all you do. These are hard on everyone involved, hopefully, we can continue to improve to help provide the support the parents and we clinicians need to move forward.
Dusty, that means a lot coming from you. Thank you! PA
I watched this to learn more and i feel like i learned less.
Dan sorry feel free to reach out at support@IAMED.us or 844-464-2633 Was there something specific you were hoping to gain?
Where is the link
Michele - www.iamed.us/
Let's not forget price, it cost so much for training and it's all out of pocket I wanted to get my helicopter license but it's about 75,000-100,000$
kevin lam it all depends on where your located for the US paramedic and additional training is around $6-10k
@@IAMEDICINE I think he means Rotor Pilot, which is Obviously something completely different.
The pilots a Completely separate entity, They don't exit the Helicopter. The job they have is to fly, which requires a whole different path in education. Being a flight paramedic does not mean you are a pilot. With Paramedic income, they can afford the training if they want. I would think it would be more of a hobby than a job to them because they focused a long time on being a top medical professional.
Sir I am an Paramadic in the India I want to a job in the air ambu.
This video is awesome. Really helpful information about preparing for critical care shifts before and during them along with the dreaded self care, checking in and organization. Thanks for putting this together. It's way harder than it looks!! And gives me more confidence to fly
Hi Andy! Great information and always good to see my old partner.
Your mic is very quiet compared to his.
Yeah lesson learned on that one #MICCHECK 🎙
awesome video
Question. I’ve heard there are height maximums for being a flight medic? This is my dream job in the future. Was jw.
They are all agency-specific, so I would encourage you to reach out to them, but weights can vary for 200 -275lbs and more. It depends on the aircraft type. Fixed-wing versus rotor wing.
