Nissan Elgrand E51 Rear Diff Oil Change
In this video, I show how to drain and fill your rear differential oil, one of the most important fluids, on your Nissan Elgrand E51😊
To make your life easier, I'd suggest getting hold of an automotive syringe; since the oil came with a built-in straw I thought I didn't need it but I would've saved a hand+thumb workout if I did pick one up 😆
Diff Oil I used:
www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00N5ZR1OA?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
Exact oil spec (as in handbook):
www.amazon.com.au/Nissan-Genuine-Differential-hypoid-KLD33-80901/dp/B01GQ0VDZI
Hope the video is helpful, thanks for watching and please subscribe :)

I connetced my car but nothing will make the sound come through it
Hiya, Just a few things to ask😊 1) have you toggled the Bluetooth setting (once connected) to allow calls and also media? 2) have you returned to the AUX screen/menu on your car (I.e. so it knows you want to play media)? 3) is your phone's volume on max or above halfway when you're connected to Bluetooth?
Really good bro!! Thanks!!!!
No problem at all, glad I could help😊🙏🏽
cant find the front one. any ideas?
Hiya, Sorry if this is a silly question but does yours have 4WD? If it does, the front diff should be easy to locate (in line with the front axle); not sure if it's exposed (like the rear diff) or hidden under the splash guard on these vehicles. Some vehicles also have a dampener on the case of the front diff which has the drain bolt hidden behind it (I.e. if you only notice a fill plug but no drain plug on the front diff)
Simple videos with great information. Just what i like.
Ffs can't see what you pressed halfway through mate at least make it clear whatvis confirm
The console buttons or from the screen? When it goes back to the previous menu page, that's just me pressing the physical return/back button
I just bought my first Elgrand a 4wd 2.5 E51 serie. Your videos are helping me massively as I have no clue on how mechanic works much less about elgrand mechanic maintenance. Actually I am curious to know where did you get that book service. Mine has one but is all in Japanese
I'm very glad I'm able to help😁 we've had ours a long while but I think we got both the Japanese and English versions with it when we had it imported. You can buy them online and I found this complete handbook on Amazon but just a little pricey; amzn.eu/d/bK3s2HQ There's also this free PDF quick reference one from an Elgrand forum; linksharing.samsungcloud.com/zqNeK83z7h6w
excellent all round many thanks for posting saved a lot of trouble and time.👍👍
No problem at all, glad it helped😁🙏🏽
Forgot to mention it in the video but ideally you want the vehicle to be quite level; the drive is slightly inclined so, on the ramp, it should've been relatively level🤗
I would like to replace the bulbs with LEDs but my doesn't have openings. It has speakers there! Any advice?
That's interesting; that's the first I've heard that have speakers there instead👀 To be honest, in this case, you'll most likely need to remove the 'door card' for the tailgate and access it that way.
@MAH-89 Thank you for replying 👍Can you recommend a video showing how to remove the panel? I was looking at my Elgrand and it seems like I have to remove the curtains first to begin with 🤔
No problem at all😊 I've actually found the solution since the same question came up on an Elgrand forum. Basically, you carefully pull out the speak grille and that should reveal a couple of screws/bolts holding in the speaker; apparently once you remove those, you can access the bulb holder which is behind the speakers 😊 so no need to go the long route and remove the door card
@MAH-89 Thank you very much 🙏
No problem😊
Helpful. Thanks
Glad it helped😊
It seems impossible to get the 2nd bulb casing out. Any advice please?
When I was doing it, there was tension to both of the bulb carriers. Do yours feel very tensed and resistance when you try to take it out?
Hi mate. I cannot without breaking the wires remove the whole of the bulb holder. Just no room to release it. Sorry for this late reply. Thanks.
No worries🤗 it's kind of hard to visualise how yours will be but I had a similar feeling doing mine because that taping and cabling felt ancient lol. I don't wanna direct you to just giving it a wiggle around and risk snapping it but perhaps a bit of heat could make the wires a bit more workable? I didn't manage to check around for cabling studs (to hold the cable to the body) but if there is then that would be a huge plus

Very helpful. Thanks. I'm glad you kept the bits in the video which didn't go smoothly. Nothing is straightforward with cars....
No problem at all😁 yeah, need to keep those in even if it lengthens out the video because there's always trial and error which a bunch of videos don't show. Glad mine helped though 🙏🏽😌
Nice one :) are those bulbs still working?
Thank you😃 they are still working but I'm considering changing them again to probably Bi-xenon just so I'm not dazzling drivers so often. Perhaps if they fail, I'll do the conversion again😉
@@MAH-89 Sweet! Do you feel they were dazzling other drivers?
I guess because these must be an older model of bulbs compared to newer ones with reflectors and sheaths to control the light bounces😅 having said that, I get the same treatment from drivers with these bulbs or even the standard OEM LED bulbs these newer cars have (I.e. Tesla)😂
@@MAH-89 haha! Ok Thankyou for that! Il just get some then.. 😆👍
@@MAH-89 I get flashed at in my 2021 seat with standard bulbs too! 🤷♂
Front cabin filter!! man thats a mission!! If ya close to essex I think I'd pay ya to do mine lol super vid dude
Thank you😁 I wouldn't mind getting my hands on it but I'm up in Nottingham!😅😆
You do not need to remove the entire light assembly to replace the bulb.
You don't, but, it does make manoeuvring the bulb(s) around a lot easier compared to having to faff around with guesswork 😅
Next time drill a hole into the filter first. Empty it then unscrew it off. My question is. Where is the lifting point for a car jack on these things.
To be honest, I reckon I'd make even more of a mess doing it that way, plus, having to faff around trying to find additional tools😅😆. The jacking points can found about 5-10cm out from the vehicle's skirting. The rear ones are kinda where the rear wheel arch starts to begin, and the front ones are like in line with the front door edges (if I recall correctly). There should be a cutout nonetheless for where they reside. Hope I've helped😅😆
@@MAH-89 I cut the end off a 600ml water bottle and sheathed it over and let it drain out the end to pan.

How do you turn the fog lights on then?
Mines a reverse light, and it’s failed the mot cos it hasn’t got a rear fog light
On ours, it's just a switch by the slide door button(s) and mirror adjuster. If your fog light is still attached to the bumper, then it is also worth searching near the steering column for any interesting looking switches. In our case, one of the reverse bulbs had been taken out and replaced with the fog light adapter (as it is, in the video) and a switch was added specifically to turn on/off the rear fog light. Of course, this would've been many years ago so it's vague in memory but it's worth getting an auto electrician to wire that up for you if it isn't already integrated 👍🏽🙂
Bruv this really helped me with the little plastic part that comes off the LED bulbs, thank you good sir

How do add a second telephone. I have a series 3 and if I try to add another telephone it seems to want the first one deleted?
Yes, I think you can only connect to one device at a time. I know on Androids, you can use it for hands free and Bluetooth audio simultaneously, but it seems for a lot of Apple users, it tends to disconnect and reconnect randomly.
Helpful info thanks👍
Glad I can help😁
Hi my Bluetooth page in the menu is greyed out meaning I cannot click it or enter it. Any tips on how this could be fixed?
I encounter that issue too, sometimes. It might either be because of other paired devices that the system is trying to connect to, or, too many devices that may be trying to connect to the system at one time. I've found that turning Bluetooth 'off' on nearby devices somewhat resolves this, and, I remove excess numbers/devices from the car's settings so that it doesn't attempt to connect to previously paired devices. Hope this helps😄
Hello mate, thank you for that tutorial. Could you please confirm the bulbs' specification as trying to upgrade to led?
Hi Rafal, no problem at all🙂 The bulbs are the standard (501) W5W 12v wedge fit bulbs👍🏽🙂
@@MAH-89 Thank you, but isn't it 7440/7443? W5W would be for registration licence plate & front sidelights
It's the same W5W bulbs for the front sidelights, number plate lights and tail bar lights🙂👍🏽 just the corner bulbs on the tail bar are different; I believe they're the same as the fog light bulb which is (921?) T20 wedge fit bulbs, the slightly larger bulbs 👍🏽

Great video, where did u get these LEDs from?
Thank you. I just got them from Ebay. The colour rating is 6500K if I recall correctly and just input your vehicle's specs to find some that are compatible. (I.e. mine are H4 bulbs but I think some weren't compatible with my vehicle) Inexpensive and significantly brightens up your entire roadway

Yoo elgrand looks hard u should bang a mansory body kit and put a stage 3 back box delete would be 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Why you chatting shit what colour is your elgrand
Thanks, but no thanks. Would ruin it
@@MAH-89 how would it ruin it bro that would make the car 10x better
The Elgrand was designed for two purposes; luxury and performance, hence why they've put a 3.5L V6 in there😉 to go overboard with an additional body kit (while the original existing body kit already looks nice and sleek) would personally be overkill and remove the luxury factor for me. I suppose it can be done on one that will regularly entertain car meets, which I don't doubt will look and sound awesome, but this one is used for more casual purposes 👍🏽🙂
Yes bro how much BHP is the elgrand pushing? Is it a stage 1 or 2
They're usually 250BHP - factory standard. This one is the top spec by (Rider) Autech [still factory] so it has bumped up 280BHP, lowered suspension, etc.👍🏽
All you gotta do is bang a stage 1 remap and a milltek exhaust and you’ll be the baddest Sri Lankan in meadows
