Alex LaMotte - Imperial Capriccio
Hey everyone! After sharing with you a few pieces that I had been working on over the past couple years, I figured it was time to share with you a brand-new piece! This is Imperial Capriccio, for full symphonic orchestra. I wanted to write something grand, something with a lot of gusto and bravado...but at the same time interweaving these strong melodies with those that are more lyrical and sensitive in nature. So, that's exactly what we have here today!
In my head, this piece reflects the story of a kingdom of sorts, home to a brave and strong-willed knight in shining armor that's known amongst the entire ton. And while said knight has the reputation of being the fiercest of warriors, this knight has a hidden spot for emotion and passionate love behind that metallic wall of armor. Perhaps for a loved one even...As the piece winds through its various melodies and characters, it tells a tale of something both adventurous and impassioned, and I hope the same feelings are evoked when you listen to the piece!

Sometimes, what you envision yourself doing and what you actually end up doing in life are two completely different subject matters. Your dreams and passions might change as you continue on through your life, as you discover new aspects of yourself and experience new adventures. As I continue through my life as a young adult, especially since the pandemic, I have come to terms with a part of me...

Day 11 of #25carolsofchristmas !! 🎄🎅🏻🎄 Happy Monday everyone! Yeah I know I know…who says “Happy Monday” 😂 This is a French carol famously known as “Bring A Torch, Jeanette, Isabella!” Perhaps somebody who’s smarter than me can tell me why this carol is named the way that it is…I’d be curious to know! I discovered this carol when I played it with my high school chamber orchestra, as a movement ...

Amazing composition!
I *love* this piece, Alex! Thank you so much for sharing it! I know what you mean by your music being stifled. Inspired partly by TwoSet and partly by you and your fellow young composers from their playing fan's compositions, for one year I enrolled in music school as well, purely for fun, with composition as the main topic. Man, those rules of classic composition are stifling!!! Not even, "But I think it sounds good" was accepted as a viable reason to break the (imho mostly unnecessary) rules. For Pete's sake, if nobody ever broke the rules, we would still have the type of music they played 1000 or more years ago! How is anything to develop when we never break the rules? So yeah. Let's move music forward and compose to our own rules instead ;-) Glad to see you are still at it, too!
kitty cat!
I can see it now that when I will marry. This is going to be played when guests are arriving or when the groomsmen and bridesmaids arrive and lastly the bride and groom. ❤ I better save up money so I could have live music, live music is the best.
This is how we play it in 6th grade orchestra
at 4:10 sounds similar to a part in Dvorak's In Nature's Realm overture. Brilliant use of inspiration!
Dude you are so inspiring! Just discovered you, you are re-awakening the Romantic era! I also want to start composing stuff half as good as this. And you're so young! Also, I'm a huge Dvorak fan, so cool you got to meet his great-grandson.
Thank you so much! Your words put a smile on my face :) Your support means the world!
Wow this is brilliant! Maybe modern music isn't doomed after all! Headed to Boulder in just a couple of weeks, hoping to play the clarinet in their campus orchestra. Cheers from (currently) the Springs!
Oh very cool! I'm in campus orchestra as well, so let me know if you want a tour of campus or anything!
@@AlexLaMotte oh awesome! Yeah that would be so cool! I move up Wednesday and have engineering launch days through Friday. If Saturday or Sunday works for you, that'd be so cool! However maybe that's a bit too short notice idk.
@@mrman5066 Awesome! Yeah next weekend should work, here's my insta: @alexdlamotte_music so we can chat there!
Phenomenal composition! I really liked the slower, lyrical sections paired with the quicker, grand sections. I also really liked the trading and building of the melody.
@aldrydd1 Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
Excited for the new composition !
Listened to it on Brett and Eddy's video, instantly fell in love with it. THIS IS AWESOME! Could listen to this on repeat and not get bored.🤩❤
Love to see that you’re still composing! This sounds amazing!
Thank you so much! :)
3:02 Love the little sparkles of Countryside Rigadoon motifs here and there. 😁
Hahaha it's funny, there's something about that little rhythm that I just love, so it just appears sometimes (:
I love it ❤ Sounds mariogalaxy-esque
was about to say the same thing haha. Good egg galaxy fan, eh Alex?
Love it, great composition Alex!
Thank you so much! :)
Wow! Love it, from dad!
Hahaha thanks Dad!
This is a fun piece! Nice to see you back. Once you get out of college, you're going to start running into lots of folks who made major changes like yours (I was absolutely going to be a history professor; now I'm in tech and may never go beyond a BA). It's great to see that you're still able to keep music an important part of your life, even if it isn't your career.
This is very sweet of you to say, thank you! It's good to be back for sure. :)
Sooo beautiful. As an astronomer and a violinist, this is just perfect.
Hahah thank you so much! :)
HALLELUJAH THE LORD HATH BORN
Wow, congratulations! So tender and at the same time powerful. Amazing 😍
Haha thank you!! I appreciate your support :)
So beautiful
Thank you! 😁
Nice piece !
Thank you!!
Too beautiful for words. 👏👏👏
Thank you!! 😁
Perfection! ❤
Thank you so much! 💕
Incredible!
Thank you!!
I've enjoyed your other recording several times, but nothing beats a live performance, does it? I'm so happy that they brought your piece to life so delightfully.
Couldn't agree more! It was an awesome experience :)
Beautiful!
Thank you!
So exciting to see the progression of your career :)
Haha I appreciate that, thank you! :)
This piece is stunning. Moved me to tears.
Thank you Julie!! 💕
This piece is so playful and beautiful ❤
Thank you! :)
What a beautiful piece! And nothing beats having it performed by a full live orchestra! Wonder how it felt for you to be in the midst of the orchestra while performing your music? You must have been so proud :)
Hey thanks!! It was honestly so cool, especially since most of the other instances I've had pieces performed have been in a string orchestra setting. I'd be lying though it I said I wasn't nervous...it's a big thing to have going on that's for sure haha!
I enjoyed listening to this and imagined it would fit perfectly for a cartoon series, like the joker... i loved the funny parts of the music. I was even snorting while listening. Thanks for the upload and good luck for graduation. And don't worry about the problem of finding out what you want to do. I am turning 40 this year and am still not sure ;-)
This is so sweet of you to say, thank you 💕
Amazing piece! Also, good luck with your study! I admired your struggle and passion for music and study, and it's amazing how clear headed you are about your future... I hope of only the best in life for your future!
This is very sweet of you to say, thank you!! ❤️❤️
Hi guys! I'll have the piece up on streaming services soon, along with the sheet music on my JWPepper page! Probably within the next few days...
I can't wait!!!
I came here because of twoset violin. I loved your composition so much
What a blast dude, damn
is this what heaven sounds like
i love trepak so much
this is amazing!!
This is AMAZING! As a cello player who plays this song, I can say that this is orchestra-certified greatness.
Beautiful! I'm now tempted to listen to the whole thing 😀
One of my favorite Christmas carols, performed beautifully. I don't hear it too often, but when I do, it's always a treat. P.S. love the suit LOL
Very sweet
DanceMaster Alex 🎉😊
I try my best 🤪
How fun! I'm only familiar with the epic ANÚNA rendition, so I enjoyed hearing it with this very different emotion.
I appreciate that! Thank you! :)
Amazing dance moves❤
Haha thank you!!
I really like these arrangements!
Thank you!!
That was lovely!
Thank you so much :)
I have heard this, I love it..! But I don't think the version that I heard was called "Bring A Torch... " I can't remember it's been a long time ago. Thank you for your Positive Happy Monday! Lovely carol :)
Thank you! Yeah I knew this carol from Leroy Anderson’s Suite of Carols, and I think this is what it’s called in his arrangement haha
