A small channel showing what is possible to grow here in the UK. With a bit of imagination, seed searching, and plant finding I will be showing you, by a series of videos, how to grow stuff from all over the world.

Growing Chilean Guava (Ugni molinae) UK
I had no idea sweet potato can be grown in the uk. I bought some about a month or so ago and left it on my counter top. I noticed some shoots growing out of them. I then went to UA-cam to see if i can find a video on how to grow them in the uk and i cane across this one. Very clear and straight to the point. Its November now and very cold. Im surprised theyre actually growing. Hopefully once i pot them they'll I'll be able to transfer them into my allotment in spring time...around 6 months 😮
Great video...
Hi why you don’t make videos anymore? How are the citrus?
Oct 31, 24 in arizona, in zone 6 part and my cherry tomatoes got frosted damage. But the cherry tomatoes look fine. Gonna harvest them today 😅
Do you throw away the potato halves?
@@taraswift Yes. Once you’ve got as many slips from them as you can they can be discarded.
Hello mate.. hope you are alright, do you still have these papaya plants? If so, do you mind posting a photo of it in a community post? If not, could you please share couple of words on how long they lasted, whether they produced fruit, and why they eventually went bad?
HI, love your videos, would love to try a grow a Mexican variety in the Uk. Please coukd you let me know if and when you may have some seeds or seedlings for sale
Now That's the fruit
Thanks
Mines 3ft tall ater 3years grown from seed. Hopefully takes off nx few years😂
5 litre pot?
@gotropicaluk8362 I'm in the UK too. Was wondering if you'd kindly sell some plants please
Just would like u to note. You mentioned they would be good in smoothies....yet if the seeds are crunched 1. They are extremely bitter but also will give you extreme upset stomach...so recommend you don't suggest smoothies...
What month do you plant them
BEST info, appreciated. I just came upon your post. I have a top rooting in my kitchen window, rooting well and pushing fresh leaves. I've played with them randomly over the past couple decades, yet hadn't followed through as they'd reach a point of failure, probably because I have them in water. I'll be planting up my current top in soil today and provide it with a grow light through the winter, being that I live at 7000 foot elevation in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. Your time frames have been helpful, "sweet" information and inspirational. Ode to the joys of gardening and growing beauty.....

Hi possible to get any cuttings of this exact tree?
Did you manage to get the fruit to ripen regularly? 2022 was a particularly hot summer!
How many tomatoes per plant in average during the harvest?
🎉🎉
I've grown ,I think a Mexican bacon from seed. I'm in north yorkshire.... I've enjoyed it's company since back end of last year 2023. It smells, the leaf , aniseed. I've wanted to plant outside but didn't want to kill it. Your video gives me confidence to transplant into my garden... Ok I'm not south England, but hopefully should at least ,in a sheltered position, might survive. I too noticed the need they have for a darker bark.... Hopefully, if survives 2024 winter,After transplantation, it should ,in time get uk bark ❤️
It also, when new leaves come, has redish leaves 🍃.
Nice and simple 👌🏽
Hi, how are they doing now. Could you plz make a updated video?
But you can buy self fertile KiWi plants, or at least I hope so cos that’s what I was told by the guy who sold me one at our local garden centre.
I am in Lewisham and have grown an avocado tree. It is now seven years old but has never had fruit or flowers. Do I need to pollinate? If so, where can I buy another tree in the area? I am still not sure if it is Huss or Mexican. Looking at your video the leaves look delicate for Mexican but I think the leaf smells of aniseed.
Thank you, very simple and direct. Much appreciated
i live in suffolk, do you think ill have any luck trying to grow pomelo in the uk? thanks
great to see you back
2024 as more tropical weather inbound thought why not try grow a pineapple
Please pleaee help me. Right from seeds only just 2 leaves and main cactus. What next. Where do i leave them
Hi brilliant video-Thank you .I live in Oxfordshire and would love to have a go at this. When would you keep your plant outside (what month ish to what month)and when to keep it in a unheated greenhouse (what month ish to what month). Thanks again/Would appreciate any feedback 👍
Generally they are moved outside around May time. Sometimes earlier depending on the weather. Then moved back to the Greenhouse by the end of October. You could keep them inside the greenhouse the whole time, but I find they take up quite a bit of space when i’m sowing summer crops in there, and so am quite happy to get them out of the way.👍🏻
@@gotropicaluk8362 Thanks so much-Much appreciated , Thank you👍
Lovely, informative video. I don't know how to differentiate a Mexican Grande and Reed variety. Hass usually gets big seed. I am interested in keeping them inside the whole year. Would like some pruning video and how to keep trees bushy and middle high. Please help
How's your chocolate vine doing? Do you still have it?
I have been following you for a few years. Previously, I said I wanted to buy an apple tree seed, but you said the seed is not allowed! We need to graft! It seems like you don't update your work on a regular basis. Where do you live?
How are you? I miss you very much
How have you been lately, friend? Long time no see
Thank you for sharing this my friend
I can make tomato soup too hmmm.
10 years tho.
I've never seen them here in Canada but I've been told they are imported, just not easy to find, specialty Indian grocers carry them which I am NOT close to, but we do have Ataulfo mangoes which are by far my favourite.
I thought all if it was edible EXCEPT the seeds, being toxic. Am I wrong?
I don’t think the seeds are toxic, but they’re not nice to eat. I imagine eating too many may have some adverse effects.🤢👍🏻
wait overwinter in a unheated greenhouse? do you need to cover them with fleece to protect from frost??
no… i’ve not used fleece on plants in the greenhouse. the only heat source is a propagation mat. But it’s enough to keep the frost off and the plants still growing, although at a very slow rate.
I live in wales My aubergines, started 6 weeks are growing so slowly, due to no sun, no heat really[they were in a room] Now i m putting them outside still in a barquette, but heat will hopefully get them to grow
I'm From Philippines currently living now in UK, Sweet Potatoes One of our common rootcrops and my favorite as well, Specially the leaves it's verry healthy since I arrive here I didn't eat the green leaves of the potatoes So I wanted to plant , and this channel verry helfpul and clear explanation..I hope I can grow soon.😊 Thanks xx
Do you eat the leaves?
@@juliankent4805 Yes, you can stem then put vinegar,Tomato, onion ..or you can cook like fry with soy sauce..
Ta.. for eating leaves advice..
hey chris do you have Instagram??
Yes I do… GoTropicalUK. 👍🏻
I have akebia Quinta and it does not fruit. Flower is white purple and pink. You say I need a different variety to cause it to fruit. Would that be just a different color flower?
They look loke 💩 They Should Not Be Grown In Europe. Stop stealing things ftom the east and harvisting them in the west british soil is killing the minerals ehich is causing native peoples to be as crazy as europeans.
Good review! What about the flowers? Are they edible?
It’s nearly the end of April, is that too late to start some off? If it is I’ll try to remember for next year. Thanks for making the video 🙂
I’ve grown avocado from seed it’s planted in a pot it’s got quite a lot of leaf damage if you can give me any advice it stands about 4 foot high love your channel
