Domestic travelers were therefore saying hello to the World's Most Experienced Airline. Meanwhile, established domestic competitors like American, United and Delta were expanding their international services. National itself had flown from Miami to London and Paris for the past decade.

yo volé en Pan Americano World Airways en 1981, desde Santiago de Chile a Miami y lo hice en un Douglas Dc-10, que había pertenecido a la también norteamericana Nacional Airlines, cuando Pan American adquirió esta aerolínea, todavía llevaba en su camino el logo del rey sol de Nacional. Fue una excelente experiencia el haber volado en varias oportunidades en Pan Am. Era otra forma de viajar pues se notaba la elegancia y buen servicio de abordo en que las aerolíneas se esmeraban en atender al pasajero, cosa muy distinta en estos días, en que a las aerolíneas les interesa en llenar un avión y restringir lo máximo el servicio a sus pasajeros y todo por el ganar más dinero. Las fusiones entre las aerolíneas han sido un desastre para el servicio de abordo y es el caso de "Latam", de Iberia, Klm-Air France y para que decir de las famosas aerolíneas denominadas "low cost".

Most people still remember the airline. But how many people know what "Pan American" means? Did they ever specialize in flights to South America?

A big problem was that the us government wouldn't allow pan am to operate domestic services in America for a long time which allowed their competitors like delta to grow thing is they were a GLOBAL airline with hubs internationally I don't understand why PAN AM didn't take their domestic operations to other countries where they could compete
