    When I bought my interchangeable knitting needles set they come with a tightening pin, but if you don't have one you can use a safety pin and insert it into the holes to tighten the hook and cord.

    Those are pretty, but I like a different head and hook shape. The router work is uniform and consistent. The different woods might wear differently. The size and shape does appear to fit your hand and stitch shape! Good for you!

    • @cockycrocheter
      @cockycrocheter 5 місяців тому

      Love this! Yeah, I specifically wanted the Clover hook heads. They also make some with interchangeable ones that are tapered style similar to Boye (though they’re not actual Boye brand). They’ve been a dream to work with!

  • @oldmomma56
    @oldmomma56 5 місяців тому

    Where are they weighted? How far does the hook shaft go back in the wood?

    • @cockycrocheter
      @cockycrocheter 5 місяців тому

      I’m not sure. I haven’t weighed them, but I certainly can and let you know. They also seem to all leave about an inch to an inch and a half of the actual hook head. I’ve found they have plenty of working space for even multiple yarn overs for stitches.

Justafe a new order, with two (harry potter-ish) wands 😊 I also love the quarter sizes, especially 3,25 mm. But it's virtually unavailable in the EU. • @cockycrocheter
      @cockycrocheter 5 місяців тому

      I’ve only used the ones with metal tips. The wood ones look beautiful, but I prefer metal tools. The wood is very well-made, so I imagine if you like wooden hooks, then these would be amazing to use!

    Do you think Scheepjes Whirl is good for this or too fine?❤

    • @cockycrocheter
      @cockycrocheter 6 місяців тому

      I'm unfamiliar with the yarn as I haven't used it, but after reviewing the yardage and fiber content, I think it would work just fine (it's slightly thinner at ~493 yds/100g while the yarn I used was 438 yds/100g). You may need to go up to a 3mm or 3.25mm to get the stitches big enough, but you also don't want them to be too open and loose. If you do a gauge swatch, and it's not quite working, you can always try a different yarn or (if you're confident with math) adjust the stitch and row counts in the pattern to proportionally match your gauge. Also, I apologize for the late reply! I don't get notifications when somebody comments, so I just see them when I log in to upload a new video. I need to be better with checking!

    • @cockycrocheter

      Yes! You certainly can. I would recommend a considerably smaller hook for the collar or cutting the number of rows in half (the blsc would make it a very wide collar).

    Men's pullover, my foot! I'm making it for myself. It's too pretty to be just for men. I also claim baby blankets for the fronts, sometimes back, and sleeves of my sweaters. It appears that Turkish ladies go all out for their baby blankets and create some interesting designs 'n textures for those, as well as for ladies' " marriage vests ". I don't know their customs. I don't know if the gent gets one too, but some of the Architectural or visual decorating designs are reflected in some of this stitch design they make. It's very exciting and visually stimulating to see these elaborate stitches being made. You don't have to understand the language if they happen to be speaking on the video just feast your eyes and do what you see. If you are interested to see what pops up, tell Google you want "English to Turkish", when you get there, type or speak "crochet marriage vest " or simply, a general " tig íşí modeli " on the UA-cam search line. That means "crochet model/pattern/stitch/sample.... it can even mean "direction" because it seems much of the language seems to be fluid to the context of the conversation in which you are speaking. Anyway, back to the thing at hand, copy and paste the Turkish translation on the search line in UA-cam. This can sometimes be like trying to find a needle in a haystack because many of the content creators show you a ball of yarn and a crochet hook in the thumbnail. They also do not always give an English translation in the title. Many times within a video they do not have good English translations and some of them are very funny. One told me to "make a three o'clock into the three tires on the highway and come to the dress". Don't worry though, These Ladies are excellent, and I mean excellent, demonstrators of their crafts, whether it be crochet or Tunisian or knitting, and speaking of those other crafts, they use the words knit and crochet interchangeably most of the time in their titles. Just turn down the volume and watch what they do. Many of them don't even speak, They just demonstrate, Slowing down and pointing and emphasizing with hand movements and gestures what is very important or what you need to look out for so that you don't make a mistake. They care very much that you do it right. They are dedicated and patient teachers and show you everything. Örgü, or simply Orgu, is the actual word for knitting for those of you who think you can handle two stix instead of one. It was the fact that they use the terms knit and crochet together in the same title that got me watching some very interesting knitting, and I picked up some sticks and was "monkey see, monkey do" all the way, and now I knit too!

      How very interesting! And certainly women have loved making my patterns for themselves as well! I just use men’s sizing and body shaping standards when writing my patterns, especially since I want to wear what I make, but I believe all clothing can be made for whoever wants to wear it! And fascinating advice about the Turkish patterns. I can imagine they design amazing things with crochet, and I’ve seen some beautiful colors and textures that make me swoon! Thank you for your kind comments!

      I’m so glad! I agree. I much prefer alternatives to have that clean edge.
