Hello, Still using the Coralife 65? I have found, after doing some vodka-dosing, that that filter box is a horrible nuisance and will clog up and increase the back pressure in the skimmer, causing the over flows that you mentioned. You can remove that outflow box completely and open the skimmer wide open and it will skim better and not overflow.

The 65’s should Come standard with a bubble diffuser for the water output. I just got my second one like this for the 65, if it does not have one you can rig your own water out Bubba diffuser tip and if you need my help let me know

Not overkill at all there is a rule about that is to take a filter or skimmer that is rated for about the double of your tank or tank+sump size this is just an adivce

Take the blue hose off the return line and the air line into the pump use a air valve to help fine tune the bubbles.

Are you able to run a return hose up to the tank or should there be an second pump in the sump for that? Thanks let us know what you have running or not.

sorry for the late response to answer your question i ended up selling the tank and all my corals with everything because i got sick of moving from apartment to apartment and having to lose money on that so i sold it all and will start back up once im settled in an actual house but thanks for your response to my video.

Yes I did you should always start with RODI water for fresh and salt to reduce nuisance algae. I did owned a cichlid tank when I first started but I just love salt water fish because of their great colors although they can be a little expensive that is totally worth it if you plan ahead and do things right I suggest doing lots of research before you get into it that way you will run into the last problem

hey i just bought the same tank! I actually have the exact skimmer as you originally bought it for my cichlids now debating on salt. Did you start with RODI water?

No prob. If the bubbles in the reaction chamber start to fade away u need to clean out the salt from the air vent connected to the power head connected to the clear air hose it tends to get clogged if ur salt level gets to high good luck :)

The water level in that sump looks way too low. Try raising it. Good luck

1st u need to have it run a few days on low not just the red dial... Adjust the dial on the motor its grey adjust as low as u can with the reaction chamber still producing bubbles after a few days u can boost it back up... Second... It looks like ur disposal tube is going back in the tank... U need to run that thin clear line from the collector cup in a gallon jug or something like that... If u have that skimmate going back into the tank ur not getting rid of any waste. Ps u really dont need that hose anyways u can just clean out the cup... It takes a while to fill up once the skimmers broken in... Its a goid skimmer no need for a different one... Good luck!!!

I would remove the blue tube from the top of the water return that is just a breather valve and if it is blocked or constricted in anyway it can and will create a back siphon dripping water from it. there is a valve on the the tubes connecting the powerhead that says it should be vertical. I would turn that a little bit till you see the foam in the cone reach a point of desirability. Then I use the red dial to fine tune the bubbles in the cone.

I would suggest getting a divider to separate the problem fish, or get another tank for the fish that get along with each other
