Jazzy Butterfly Garden
Приєднався 24 жов 2019
Hello! My name is Margie, I live in New Castle County Delaware; zone 7. I have always had an interest in gardening since my high school gardening club. The passion was so great that I packed my plants to takeoff to college. I often had my college friends enter my dorm room in their Tarzan voice, but nevertheless my plants give me comfort. After college my journey was a married life and a mom still with a passion of gardening, but living on the 3rd floor of a apartment building became a challenge to garden. “Square foot gardening” Mel Bartholomew was the answer. We build a 8 x 8 raised bed on the patio and there I grew tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes and even squash. As my journey in life became more demanding my love for gardening was put on hold to raise my family and to pursue my career. Retired, my passion was back making up for all the lost time that I always thought of. Today I Garden daily and it gives me great joy.
In extreme heat wrap your grow bags to retain moisture
Water, water, water with the extreme heat you have to keep your plants hydrated. My best solution for your grow bags is to wrap them in clear plastic to help control the moisture. Add compost and a layer of straw or mulch to help control the moisture. Remember the more you water your containers, the more nutrients are depleted. Most plants will be under stress at this time so check for pest.

Growing Elephant Ears (Alocasia, Colocasia, and Xanthosoma)

Planting elephant ear bulbs is easy. Most of the plants prefer rich, moist soil. The tuber can be placed directly outdoors once the threat of frost or freezing temperatures have ceased in your area. Once the elephant ears are establish they require little attention. During a dry spell you may want to water the plant regularly, especially if you’re growing your elephant ears in containers. Growing Figs in Containers
Переглядів 2108 місяців тому
Figs are easy fruits you can grow. There are many varieties of figs, such as Miss Figgy, Brown Turkey and of course Chicago Hardy. Growing figs in zone 7 will require me to move the tree to a protective area during the winter months, but after a few years a well established fig tree can be planted in the garden. Pick a sunny location for your fig tree and don’t allow the fig tree to dry out. ...

Very nice!
Wow!! What a beautiful job you did. I am 72 and appreciate you going slow. That was very helpful.
Many blessings to you.🦋 If only the world could slow down and really enjoy life. ✅
Have so many pine trees with these long pinecones- love this idea- so easy just found your channel
I hope you enjoy the other videos on my channel.🦋
Too long. Please speed up
Thank you for your comment. Did you make a pinecone wreath. How did it turnout?
Can it be any kind of hibiscus flower? I have a crimson red, pale pink & white petals.
How many days before April 20th did you start these? Thanks.
Beautiful project. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Pretty.
Why bother putting them in the oven the bleach bath will kill any bugs.
Very nice!
I gotta get a salad spinner now. That's handy!
Stunning. Well done.❤❤
Very pretty & natural
Thank you 🦋
U using wire. That's wire ring
I use a 18 inch wreath frame; no glue.
Metal vs. wire frame, ok it’s your call😂
Why not the stem of the hibiscus?
It's a great tea but did you know it is a natural botox. Wonderful on the skin.
So can I grow a hibiscus tree in the US. I live in the.Midwest and I would love to grow. One of these plants.🙆🏽♀️
How long did you dehydrate them for?
I really like this idea! Very nice!
Sure was a nice video! Genius. I have the same pump and sure enough it travels around. Probably for a swimming pool. Your idea makes it work for just what I want. Glad I found you.
What are those green tools you are using. I need those. :)
Very good. Thank you! 🥥🌴
Very informative. Thank you.
When is the best time to plant indoor
If your elephant ear is outside, you can bring it in doors and just keep it in the sunny location of the house as long as the temperature stays above 65-75°. It should be fine.
Thanks. Previous owner of my house planted hibiscus, and it just clicked the other day that I could dehydrate the flowers for tea.
I love your wreath. I thought you did such an amazing job. I love the way that no glue, or ties, or wire was needed. Could you please tell me what size your form is. If you said it I missed it it. Thank you. I want to try it!!!!
I used a 18 inch wreath frame. Dollar tree frame is not sturdy enough. I picked up the wreath frame I believe from Michael’s craft store.
beautiful
THANKS FOR TO INFO MANY BLESSINGS
Good luck with your garden. 🦋
Your welcome. Good luck with your garden. 🦋
I put recycled cardboard evenly in the bottom and on the sides inside the grow bags before adding the soil, plant, or seeds. I also add cedar wood chips to the top soil after the plants have established a strong root system. It keeps everything well hydrated throughout the hot southern summers. The cedar wood chips will also help with keeping bugs off your soil and prevent the soil from getting on your plant leaves when it rains which can cause diseases to spread. And I also cover my plants that are exposed to direct sun with 40% shade cloth when exposed to temperatures 90 degrees and above. Everything lives and looks great! 😊👍👍
Thank you for sharing, that sounds like a great idea; using cedar wood chips. I too use shade cloth for the containers that I cannot move in my backyard.🦋
needed this right now for my plants too. All of mine are in grow bags. Thanks for this!!
Good luck in your gardening. I’m already seeing results with my tomato plants.🦋
We managing here in southern AZ🥲monsoon season 🙌🏽
Great to hear. What zone are you in?
or maybe put up a shade cloth? I imagine if youre trying to keep the bottom hydrated, the above portion might need coverage as well.
Hello Margie. Just came across your video. I am a first time gardener here in zone 7b. I've always loved gardening since I was a kid, but that was from a consumer’s perspective. 😋Growing up I remember my grandfather creating gardens on about 2 acres of land. Having done it myself this year on a much smaller scale, I can only imagine the attention all of that required. I'm retired now and decided to give it a go, learning a lot as I go along. I'm growing in containers - grow bags and buckets. Tomatoes are challenging! It’s like having children! I'm loving it though. Thanks for sharing the tip on wrapping the grow bags to retain moisture. I’ve subscribed to your channel to receive more tips and watch your journey. Blessings to you and yours.
Welcome! Happy to have you; please share your comments to help our gardens grow. I love using my grow Oya’s in my containers that I cannot move in the backyard.
Can l dry it in the sun
That’s an interesting concept, but give it a try and let me know how it turns out. I have too much wildlife in my yard to sun dry.
All totally unnecessary, just push straws at intervals to centralise the unit so it stays in the middle and prevents the port emptying, many fountains come with them included and clips.
I like how there is no glue gun in the making of this beautiful wreath. 🌲 I hope that no Grinchy porch pirates pinch this. lol ❤ It turned out great ❤
2 1/2 years later and it still looks amazing. Let me know if you give this DIY a try. 🦋
Thanks you for sharing. 🦋
Facial scrubs helps to enhance new skin cell, which can lead to smoother, brighter skin. 🦋
Great informative video
Thank you so much.🦋
What does the plant tone do?
Great question. Plant tone is organic. Plant-Tone is a slow-release fertilizer, which means that nutrients are released into the soil over time, providing a steady supply for your plant. I like all of Espoma products because they are all natural ingredients. 🦋
Great video Miss Jazzy
Thank you so much; happy gardening 🦋
Great video. Can I harvest the blooms in the evening after they have bloomed and begin to wilt so I can enjoy the blooms during the day?
I usually pick my flowers early in the morning, there’s plenty of flowers for me to enjoy. You’ll have another flush of fresh blooms each day.🦋
I see no reason you couldn't as I was thinking the same. It would just be a little more work with them closed is all.
@petersdraggon My flowers are starting to bud up. I’m excited to create hibiscus ice cubes for my ginger beer.
@@petersdraggon great. Thanks
I didn't know you shouldn't wash right away. Appreciate knowing that, but don't understand why.
The process is called “Curing”. When you first harvest your potatoes, the skins are soft. Curing will further toughen up your skins and help extend the storage of your potatoes.
I love the chair that red color pops against the white Great job
Thank you so much! I wasn’t for sure how that would look with the other colors in the garden, but it’s proven to be aeye catcher.
I luv lemongrass & citronella best. That's very beautiful arrangement especially w Sphere 🌿🌿🌿🌾🪻🪻🪻
Thank you, I love the lemongrass too.
I just read that sprinkling CINNAMON in fountains and water collection buckets/barrels will stop mosquitoes from laying their larvae!
I like sprinkling cinnamon when I start my seedlings indoors. 🦋
Great idea ❤
Thank you! 😊
Very nice variety. I want to get several trays to make a fountain out of.
That sounds amazing. Let me know how it turns out. 🦋
@@jazzybutterflygarden My kids just bought me a solar bird fountain from Home Depot for my Birthday and surprised me with it. They had it delivered and it was exciting opening it lol. I still want to get some of these trays to make a solar fountain out of when I finish clearing an area I'm going to plant up and turn into a place just for wildlife.
Beautiful
@@kathleenwolf8624 Thank you. 🦋
That’s so sweet; enjoy your Birthday 🎉🎉🦋
Beautiful.. I made one last year but Ihave different shaped pine cones and I wired and glued them and they were a pain really. It was the hardest wreath I’ve ever done. It is beautiful but I never thought to put them on the wreath like you did? I’m not sure if the pine cones I have would get small enough to do it though, cause they are much fatter cones instead of elongated ones like yours.. I love it though I makes me want to try it. Thank. You
This was a Christmas project and it turn out so nice that a year later it still hangs on my front door; absolutely beautiful.🦋
Loving this idea, may become my next wee garden project. Thank you ❤
love it thank you
