    Genuinely, thank you. I think mistake #8 can apply to every single life endeavor. I am a recent graduate so I have been feeling really scared about starting my career in general. Asking myself “What if I’m not good enough?” And I’ve always been interested in starting a home baking business as a side hustle but never got the ball rolling out of this fear. I really needed it hammered into my brain that this fear means that I care a lot about it, which means I must do it anyway. Growth is often uncomfortable, but we CAN and MUST do it. ❤️

    I’ve been a cook in a care home for 20 years and everyone has always said I should have a bakery but I never had the confidence. Three years ago I lost my husband to cancer and I was in a terrible place. I have since met a wonderful man and we have bought a house by the beach in Anglesey Wales and we plan to move there in 2 years when he retires. He supports my dream 100% I am finally going to start a home bakery business. I am 51 but it’s never too late to get started on your dreams. Watching this video has inspired me and I thank you 🙏 xx

    I just lost my job, laid, I finally bit the bullet and I advertised my cake sales. I just sold my 1st cake and I was so excited and nervous. Goal is to make cakes, until I finish nursing school and my husband is opening a food truck and I don’t want him to feel overwhelmed with financial issues.

    Love your cat!❤ He is so cute and he sounded like he said "hello." I do have some questions though. What are your thoughts of freezing chopped fruits for preparing the ingredients? Or do you think they will keep just fine in the fridge after chopping them? Also, I read that pets need to be kept out of the kitchen when making cottage food for sell. How do you keep your cat out? Just lock him in a cat room when you are baking?

      Hello Katelyn, thank you for your sweet comment. 😻 Doing as much prep work as possible will always be helpful for your home bakery, the only thing you should be careful about is some fruit when frozen absorb a lot of water which in turn will affect your recipes, so be mindful of that. Your public health department is a much better place to get the direct answer to your question about pets. Laws vary by state/localities. Luckily my cat stays clear of the kitchen when I would bake for clients. All the best!

      It might melt, since margarine should be refrigerated. You may want to do a test with it first.

    Im starting with sugar cookies because i love being creative. Im also going to have some other cookies for the market but the sugar cookie will allow me to express my creativity whether is rotal icing art or figurines with cookies. In canada we just have to make sure everything is labeled properly with ingredients and such for things like cookies.

    If i asked my mom she would say any price i put is too expensive. If i ask my aunt i never charge enough

    Baking and selling Wedding cakes got me through nursing school without steep student loans. It can be done. I don’t have a count on how many $12 hand mixers I burned out. (Yes, that’s how much they cost in the late ‘70’s.) I encourage everyone! Make connections in your local bridal business’. Make 2-4 dozen beautiful cupcakes and go give them away. Sales person’s in formal dresses department’s/wear and mens tuxedo shops. Bridal gown personnel, and florists. Everyone and anything you can think of, anywhere near the industry. Print up Inexpensive cards. Give them away, with the cupcakes! Wear a smile and your most appropriate outfit. I’d even suggest wearing a Sunday dress with a beautiful apron. Good luck to all. And don’t forget to thank the first one that recommends a cake that you book. (PS: there’s nothing wrong with having a calendar, with more than a few “booked dates.” Encouraging others to put a deposit before the dates are gone. We can’t do x amount of cakes a day.
