The beauty of winter amidst the stillness of the forest and swinging an axe, gives me a moment of solitude and peace as I forget life's challenges for a moment. Then... I'm rewarded with the warmth and crackle of a fire in a hot-tent stove where I cook sausages and bacon sandwiches.

KingCamp Stove - The GOOD and not soo good. It's the ONLY stove with THIS!

Why is the King Camp stove unique? Because it is one of the only stoves that i've found that has a window on both sides... allowing the fire to be viewed from different sides of the tent. It gives off more light. You can cook on it and it will heat you up. But are there any negatives... well... maybe a couple. Watch the video to find out. FireHiking 4-8 Person Hot Tent - Is this a good tent or not?
Should i get this or the kingcamp? They have the larger kingcamp for 200 dollars flat 😊
I like the features of this stove VS my Kni-co Trekker. What diameter would you say the stove pipe is? Is it a 4" pipe or smaller?? Thanks for sharing!!!
i just bought a onetigris used for $20.00... thanks
Wow... great deal!
I was enjoying your video until-------I noticed rust on your hatchet. That's a sin that can not be forgiven. 🤠 Nice job. I have a smaller version of this tent, and it has served me well for the past two years. Handles snow well, but just like any other tent, care has to be taken to keep heavy snow cleared. Personally, I believe FireHiking makes good gear. I hope you have been enjoying your set-up. Now, about that hatchet.😉
You got me! I have to do a better job taking care of my hatchet. I also need to quit misplacing it. I lose everything.
@@CampOUTLife Lol!! Don't feel bad. That's why I have about three of everything. I'm always looking for something. Take it easy!
@@rkf2746 3 of Everything???? Good advice... although I have about 6 or 7 tents.

gOOD point. Yeah I've been using poles on the corners and it works pretty well. Thanks for the sub... Love your username!
Interesting that they don't make it in a double view that isn't external air. They make the woodlander in a large double view for not too much more.
I have the large winnerwell nomad and this thing rocks! Excellent quality and craftsmanship. Customer service is top notch and that says alot to me.
That's great to hear... thanks for sharing!
I wonder how these would compare to the pomoly circle 6 which is in the same size and Money category but with the circle feature it keeps the inside walls farther away I think
Interesting point... might have to add this to my list to try out. Also noteworthy is the Circle6 also has a stove jack.
450 keep dreaming.
I have a cheap top lander tipi with single zippers. I've found that i can reach the zipper by striking a pose like spider man landing a jump with my arm parallel to the tent and one knee bent, one on the ground. Maybe my shoulder will encounter condensation but i don't have to lay down to unzip the tent. Two zipper pulls would be better and they should all have them but it's not so bad. Edit: i just checked and there's no need to have my knee hit the ground but there is a fair amount of body contact with the tent.
You don't want no tiger shit.Don't buy no tiger shit
Why.
What size logs put in I am getting that Stove For My Tent Great Video
12-14" logs are a good fit.
They don't hold heat well The glass just smokes up in 5 minutes So cut steel plates to line the inside. You don't need a welder. Place top plate over 2 side plates. Holds heat longer.
I check the official website from Onetiger is seems the Rock F has 70D silicone coated nylon fabric Is there version difference?
Do you have the mesh liner for it? What size air mattress do you think would fit on the one side where the mesh would go? TIA
I don't have the mesh liner. I think any adult sized camping mattress would fit on one side. I had an oversized cot and it fit pretty well.
I hate to say, but the onetigris tent was NOT set up correctly; which is why it looks so janky. The Rock Fortress has WAY more room when set up correctly. The guy lines create a ton of space; which as you can see in the video, did not work at all.
I'll have to retry it again and see if you're right and it creates more space.
Me and my brother 2 cots both our gear and my big wood stove plus wood inside the tent and had 0 problems with plenty of room
That's awesome. Yes... definitely a good bit of room in there!
Great. I tend to have a lot of gear and over crowd myself. Glad it worked for you.
Try this: stand a tp roll up on wax paper, fill it with sawdust, poor liquid bacon grease in it, stir it with a stick, shove half a paper towel in it with the stick so the just the top sticks out. Let it harden.
I'll definitely have to try that.
firehiking is top notch. picked one up on an internet sale for 199 and pitched it next to my friends one tigris. The fabric is much more sturdy, it pools less condensation and the stitching is neat.
It's definitely a good one!
hey buddy what's that seat you're sitting in
Guide Gear Club Camping Chair with Foot Rest, Oversized, Folding, Portable Chairs with Padded Seats, 500-lb. Capacity. Very comfy. amzn.to/4aFLrcz
Just purchased this tent as a dedicated hot tent. So far I do wish there was a dedicated vent in the top. For the price ($150 Cdn) I am happy that they did throw in quality steaks however, I will be buying additional ones like you said for the main guide wires as I do plan on using poles when I don’t have trees to make a ridge line.
Thanks for the comment. Be sure and get quality poles to hold up the tent. Was severely disappointed in the poles I bought... they weren't staying extended.
Which FireHiking 4-8 person hot tent are you showing. The Amazon add on here says Firehiking 4-8 large Teepee $299.00. Then later in the video it is written on the screen FireHiking Leva Plus 4-8 which is $239.99.
The price changes periodically... The one I have is currently $229. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09XM8FXRF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8
This one is $219 www.amazon.com/Onefire-Person-Waterproof-Teepee-Camping/dp/B0B9RTVN6Q?ref_=ast_sto_dp
⛺🔥sounds like a good stove. It also comes free with king camp khan Bell Tent. Im doun my research 😊
Thanks for the comment!
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING YOUR TENTS WITH TWO COTS!!!!!
Definitely helps to see how much room is available.
GREAT VIDEO comparison for the 2 tents I'm considering. I DO wish you had hooked up the stove pipe through the stove jack in the 2nd tent/Rock fortress because the placement of the stove IN the tent due to the stove jack IS OFTEN A FACTOR because you HAVE TO PLACE YOUR STOVE IN A CERTAIN PLACE. But thank youfor this video!!!
You're welcome

Great review, really helped 👍 👏
Glad it was helpful!
Good Video.
Thank you. I still have a lot of room for improvement when it comes to making videos.
Thank you
One tip I absolutely forgot to mention... and it was on my list... Have a good sleeping bag.... something that is rated for weather that is colder than what you are expecting.
Bacon is it's own food group
Absolutely.
Thunderstorm winds, 50 mph or so. Gave up on camping. Got tired of going down with the tent every year. How many acres is the property? Cuddle cat there.
Yep.. Walker is a great cat to cuddle with. This particular camping site in this video was only a few acres (5). Hope you give camping another try. Fun times!
Dont know anything about the firehiking tent but i have purschased 2 hot tents and a stove from one tigris. Had the "4" person tipi which i used twice a month, two nights each, and it held up very well for the past three yrs. I now have the rock fortress and haved used it a few times this past winter and am very happen with it. It did seep a little through the seams but i just used the seam sealer i have already and didnt have an issue with it since. Very roomy compared to the smaller tipi, obviously. Can comfortably fit two cots and a stove + dog.the stove i got was a round stove wich didnt really do great. -one tigris military wood stove- not enough front air i take on the door so they added another to the rear which would just mess up the flow and after a few uses it just didnt seal. Tents im very happy with. Beleive i paid $220 shipped. Stay away from their "military" round stove. Not good in my opinion.
Excellent comment.. .thanks for sharing. Been happy with Rock Fortress as well... just wished it was a little bigger.
I would recommend giving the onetigris gastropod a try 😀
I might do that. I've also been eyeballing the Conifer.
Nice little stove. How long will a burn last when packed with wood for the night? Obviously it will depend on the type of wood. Also... have you ever looked into the "Four Dog Stove Company" out of Minnesota? The only size he's making now in the steel version, is the "Three Dog." It's probably the best built wood stove for hot tent use I've ever seen, and compared to most of these stoves, the price is right. The only thing I don't like about it, is they don't offer a Three Dog with windows.
I would have to add wood every hour to keep it topped off. Normally I let it go out in the middle of the night and not worry about getting up every so often to fill it. I just looked at Four Dog Stove Company... a couple of those stoves are out of my price range... but they do look solid. The Little Dog has a gasket around the door. Would be nice to get my hands on one of these to try out. Can never have too much camping gear.
Also... nice to have hear from a fellow Texan.
@@CampOUTLife Likewise! I love Texas! Also... ALL of the steel stoves he offers - and perhaps he is selling more than just the Three Dog at this point - he has I believe a Two Dog through Five Dog, but I digress... they ALL have a gasket around the door. In addition, I believe they also have a sheet of steel a few inches below the stove pipe, which comes toward the front - this forces the heat/smoke to go basically to the front of the stove, then up and back to reach the stove pipe. (There's a name for that, but I can't think of it)
@@DeanFromTexas Isn't the word 'Baffle'? That is cool that they have that. Very unique. Would love to get my hands on one... I'm bookmarking the site and hopefully one day can gather a few pennies to pick one up.
@@CampOUTLife Bingo! Yes sir, a baffle. Best of luck to you... I'll be watching your videos. I subscribed to your channel.
The G-stove is far superior... my nomad warped on 1st burn. The top plate design doesnt allow stove to burn efficient..and it will smoke unless flue is mainly open
Yes.. the G-stove looks great and appears to be a good solid stove too. Would love to get my hands on one for a comparison. Wow...can't believe the Nomad warped on you. gstgearusa.com/shop/ols/products/g-stove-heat-view-xl
Sounds like expensive junk. @@CampOUTLife
Very well done video. Informative and forthright.
Thank you kindly!
I've compared the tents from FireHiking and OneTigris, but I have to recommend Hill Zero's. I'm being honest when I say Hill Zero is the most outstanding het tent on Amazon.
I'll have to check them out. What is it about it that you like?
That solar generator is incredible. You definitely should make a video on how you built it!
Thanks... I love it but it is HEAVY. I had it on a dolly (a cheap one) and it broke it.
Very informative and well done. How big is your stove? I just ordered the 4-8 Fire Hiking tent so Im hoping a Kni Co Alaskan Jr will fit a bit better than it did in the 2-4 person Fire Hiking tent I had up until this weekend. The wind decided to blow the tent onto the campfire as we were packing up. 😬
Thanks. I currently have two stoves for this type of tent. I have the large version of the King camp... And the large Winnerwell Nomad. Oh no.. is the tent a loss?
Subscribed to you.. by the way.
I fricken luv mine! I got the medium and have about the same amount of burn time as you. Only thing I did differently is instead of fiberglass pad I use the stainless steel table thing from my large Winnerwell fire pit. I like using that because I get a little more height, and I can slide a pot pie or pizza between the stove and table thing and bake anytime. Just make sure ya tighten everything down when you first get it and your golden.... I haven't had any issues with my carrying bag as of yet. Very nice stove for the money.
Nice! Thanks for your comment!
Awesome, thanks!
I'm so lucky I'm only 5.3😂
More room for you!

I've never heard of that until now. I had to look this up and it looks really interesting... and sounds like it would be better than a propane heater. I'm going to check it out if I can get my hands on one.
The one thing none of these tents have is a water dam at the bottom to collect and drain into a collection bottle. You always need as much water as you can gan get. I have to sew in a collection dam around the circumference about 18 inches from the bottom. I seal it with silicone.
Good point. If a tent can also collect rain water .. even better!
That is a great review . I am looking forward to your next one when you compare the King Camp stove to The Winnerwell Nomad. I have been thinking about the Nomad for some time now but have not pulled the trigger yet, this might help. Thanks
I forgot to mention that I own a Winnerwell Fire Pit Large it is great quality, so that I why Am I’m Interested in your next review plus I appreciate your effort Thanks
Thanks for your comment. I'm looking forward to opening the box and checking it out. Should be coming in a couple of days.
I like your review. I have the small KingCamp stove. Only used it three times. It's good. I do wonder about which way to use the grate in the bottom. It can go in with the odd end toward front or back. It is shorter than the stove, so can be slid against the back, or up against the door. I guess I'll experiment to see which way works the best.
It seems to have a better fit in the large... but I tend to push it back all the way because that is where most of the fire would be.
Basic simple set-up without any thrills. Do some hiking, more campfire shots, and interesting locations. Get an awning and a hospital plastic urnal. Give it a whirl, brother. Nice truck.
Great advice
