The Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland is a national and international hub of Arctic information and centre of excellence which conducts multidisciplinary research in changes in the Arctic region. It is located in the Arktikum House, Rovaniemi, Finland. On this channel you will find videos e.g. from our conferences and seminars. You will also find presentations of the Arctic Centre and videos that are produced in our projects.

Lapinlehmä - arktinen lehmä
Lapinlehmä eli pohjoissuomenkarja on uhanalainen alkuperäinen nautarotu, joka on hyvin sopeutunut arktisiin olosuhteisiin ja jolla on pitkä yhteinen historia ihmisen kanssa pohjoisessa. Lapinlehmien erityisyys, ekologiset ominaisuudet ja kulttuuriperintö tarjoavat mahdollisuuksia kehittää maaseutuelinkeinoja, jotka tukevat kannan elpymistä maatiloilla.
Video on tuotettu osana hanketta "Lapinlehmään perustuvan erikoistumisen mahdollisuudet osana pohjoisia elinkeinoja". Hankkeessa saatiin uutta tutkimustietoa ja käytännön osaamista lapinlehmärotuisten eläinten kestävästä ja lisäarvoa tuottavasta hyödyntämisestä ja lapinlehmätuotteiden kuten maidon ja lihan ravintokoostumuksesta ja erityisominaisuuksista.
Hanketta rahoitti Euroopan aluekehitysrahaston (EAKR) rakennerahasto-ohjelma ”Kestävää kasvua ja työtä 2014-2020”.

Thank you for talking about your project. I think you are a good listener and hear people’s hearts, problems, stories, myths. Family stories may be hundred of years old but we only remember our grandfather telling a story. He may have heard it from his grandfather. What a wonderful project this is. Each person talking about their portion of the has proved to be very interesting though I like yours best. You approach your subject with thought, depth, and delicacy. Extraordinary.
No offense, but this is a poor experiment that proves nothing. Put the ice block on a level plane and allow evaporation to work like it does with our oceans. Instead of giant block, let the ice touch the water and melt. You'll get a different result entirely.
Not sure what you are trying to say here Boat. But I think that this experiment demonstrates a simple fact: when continental ice melts, the melt water runs off to the ocean and thereby contributes to sea level rise (by adding more water volume to the global ocean). Simple.
